View Full Version : Home needed for injured cat

My crackhead neighbor (literally) just moved out of her home yesterday. My boyfriend and I went walking over there and found her outside cat that she left behind. It is in desperate need of some tender loving care. I have been feeding it and trying to put ointment on it's ear, but I can't bring it inside like I would like to do. I have two other cats, plus our lease says "No pets" so we're pushing it as it is. I would love to find a home for it....perferably inside. It's missing her/his left ear, is skinny, and has scratches all over her/his face. Needless to say, my neighbor wasn't treating it good while she lived there.

These are horrible to look at, but I took some pictures:

This poor thing needs some medical attention! Do you have any no kill shelters in your area that you could get him/her to?

Poor thing, but thank you for caring for the kitty and trying to find a good home for it!

Oh, poor kitty. :( While you're looking for a home for her/him, perhaps you can build a temporary house just outside of yours - in a quiet place, or in the garage. Put some old - but clean blankets and food bowls there. She/he will soon feel secure with you around. If you have time, sit and talk and let her/ him come to you. Oh, I hope you can get her/him to a vet for a much needed treatment.

You can see here how we did it: http://67.15.70.205/talk/showthread.php?threadid=7761

Best of luck - and thank you so much for caring! :)

OMG, poor thing! If you can't take it to the vet please do call a no kill shelter or rescue group for help.

That is so sad. I'm glad you are helping.

I have PMed AngelEyez1982 about a no-kill shelter near her. I think she is about 50 miles away.

I gave her the phone number to the shelter. If they can't/won't help, I will! I work with this shelter. (www.petsinc.org)

Thank you so much Mary! Please keep us updated. This poor kitty looks like he/she could be a real lover if given half a chance, and now hopefully she/he will have that half a chance. :)

I called and they said they didn't have the space right now, so I could bring him on Thursday. She wanted me to get the shots, but I don't have the extra cash...so she asked for a $20 donation. I can handle that, but now I'm hestitate about taking him there, cuz she said if he's sick (I explained to her how I found him) then they would need $30 to put him down.

Oh that poor cat! I hope somehow help can be found ASAP before a serious infection sets in. I'd take mruffruff up on the offer of help. If you each drive 25 miles that's not bad. Keep us posted on the poor kitty. Scumbags that left her/him...well they'll get theirs.

I have just talked to the vice president of Pets. She wants to be kept advised of the situation. I think we are "in like Flynn" since she is in charge. Her name is Pat.

Unless this cat tests positive, any other health issues can be handled. I'm sure that is their major concern. It would be mine also.

If you can bring him on Wednesday evening (between 5 & 8) I can meet you and see that he gets tested right away. Then I can ask my vet to slip him into her schedule on Thursday for any other work.

Mary

P.S. Don't worry about the $$$. We'll figure it out later.

OMG those pitiful pictures were hard to see.
That poor, poor, defenseless cat. My heart is just aching for him.

Mary, I hope you and AngelEyes are able to get together to get this poor cat the help he needs. I hope any tests he has is negative, so that just once in his life he will know what love and proper care is.

Please keep us updated.

OMG! How sad!!! I'm praying that he tests negative and he will get the medical treatment that he so desperately needs! Bless his heart!!
I'm so glad you two are working together to help this poor baby.
Please let him be ok and finally get the love and care that he needs so much. Please keep us posted on this poor little guy.

Uppydate:

Angeleyez1982 couldn't get the cat to the shelter on Wednesday night. The vet isn't going to be able to help on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. We are planning on Monday.

Since the cat seems to be touchable, the shelter will take it. I will see that it gets to the vet immediately. All we have to do is get the cat to the shelter for the Test.

I've named the cat Sumter until we know it's sex.

I'll let you know what happens Monday.

OMG I just about felt sick when I saw those pics, not only is its ear in real bad shape, and risk of severe infection, it is so scrawny , that person ought to be had up for cruelty to animals, poor kitty, I am so pleased you are there and willing to help this poor suffering animal, and to the others as well, fantastic, keep us posted, I really hope this kitty is not to sick and needs to be PTS, hopefully with vet treatment, and love and care it will blossom to a beautiful cat that it is, You should report that B$@$h , and you have the pics as well, if you can do it please., she should not get away with such terrible cruelty.

Good luck, I sure hope kitty will be treated soon, and not have to suffer anymore.

*crosses fingers* pweeeeez!!!! I hope this kitty has found it's furrever home.....just a little worried though...with that ear it looks like he could use antibiotics!

Hopefully he'll pull thru ok! :D I hope we can see new pics soon!

Sorry I have kept everyone waiting on an update. I've been so busy with work and other things. Tigger did very well with his bath. It was like he wanted one, cuz he was so filthy. I was hoping to make his home here, but my boyfriend isn't convinced on letting me have another cat. I know the shelter would give him a very nice home. I just keeping fearing the worst would happen to him if I gave him away meaning him being put down. I'm know I have no worries, cuz I've already been told the only way that would happen is if he had AIDS or Lukemia. I just get attached to animals so quick that it breaks my heart to have to give him away. I'll be sure to let you know what I plan on doing. Thanks for everyone's concern and support. It really does mean a lot.

Has Tigger been to a vet yet? I really do hope that he is ok and his ear gets better!

Hopefully he has found his furrever home!

I think you should work on that boyfriend of yours, use whatever feminine wiles you have to, and maybe just maybe Tigger will be yours.

How about that ear,? it looks nasty beyond nasty, has Tigger had it seen to,? could be a nasty infection just waiting to catch a ride .

I really hope you can keep Tigger, poor kitty has had such a rough life, it would be great for Tigger to now have the care and love he so deserves, please keep us updated, I really want this story to have a happy ending.

I haven't taken him to the vet, but I do have medication from a vet that I have been putting on Tigger's ear. I don't have the extra cash to take him there personally. Plus my boyfriend won't let me, cuz he claims it's not our cat.

well it's good that the ear is looking better- if you bring him to the shelter- he'll get a physical there. sorry your boyfriend won't let you use the car for a vet visit- cost is not the issue as lots of people have offered to help so it must be use of the car? Oh well. Keep us posted! You can't keep him I guess but you can see him through to his next forever home. And take heart, even if he is positive, there are nation wide rescue orgs, that if you are willing to hold on to him and do the work finding him a placement, it IS possible!
Hang in there- you are doing your best and that's what counts! He loves you for it for sure!

I would just like to say Thank you for taking such good care of Tigger and opening your heart to his plight, Do you think some ointment will really help the ear though, ? it looked real bad to me, please take the offer of financial assistance to help Tigger, and I am sure maybe someone closer might beable to offer help to getting Tigger there., just a thought, PT is a place where everyone pulls together to help animals like Tigger.

Does your boyfriend make the final decision on Tigger, or do you get a say in it?

Keep us posted and new pics would be great , especially to show us Tigger's improvement, we are all concerned for him, and hope that indeed a happy ending is ahead.

You are a great person to have taken on this responsibility, and everyone on PT will thank you for that, and I bet Tigger is too.!!:)

I know a vet would give me something much better than what I'm using, but the ointment has helped a lot.

My boyfriend and I would have to come to a mutual agreement about Tigger, so I'm not sure what will come of that. Hopefully something positive.
