My hamster RAge.......

Hi,
Does anyone out there have a hamster? I have one but i get bit every time i hold her. I finally got gloves she can't bite threw. Do you know why she's bitting me? Do you have and suggestions. I know it could be because i didn't pick her up enough when she was a baby. But what els?
She makes me feel bad because she just sits there and stares at me. But she's also old she's 2 1/2 and there only live for 2-3 years. Help me:confused: :eek: :(

It's been years and years since I've had a hamster, but I always had them when I was a kid. I remember them being mean if I didn't handle them often enough. But if this just started happening, maybe she's just getting grumpy and sore in her old age.

My sister (green_chameleon_girl) has a hamster. Hamsters will bite as a defence if they are scared.

Yep thats me! lol I have a hamster named buttons he has never bitten or anything but my brothers old hamster would do the same thing as yours. What we did was put the cage on the floor, opened the door and put some treats out, then let the hamster take time to leave the cage, and when she is out calmly pet her and then eventually she will start to trust you a bit more each time you do it. It worked for us!! :)

I had a hamster and she hated to be picked up by anyone! i gave her away because it was almost impossible to clean her cage because everytime I put my hand in there she'd try to bite me and apparantly she's the same way with her new family.

Our veery first hamster. Sara, was the sweetest big white baby in the world.. we had her for over 5 years, she got her yearly shots & thats what we thing prolonged her life. Our parents were trying to teach us about proper care of an animal.

wish my mom still thought like that because Max would still be here.
