I'll admit it. I am in LOVE with my vet, "Dr. Paul." Sweet, gentle, patient, calm and reassuring. Never too busy to give you 100% of his attention, and as MUCH time as you need, to discuss your fur kids' issues, no matter how small. He "treats" the human as much as the fur patient! Oh, did I mention how incredibly knowledgeable and skilled he is? And, he will call you back on the phone, anytime, day or night, no matter how minor the question! Once he called me back at 10pm about a diet question, and apologized profusely for making ME wait so long for a reply!!! He was in emergency surgery!! But, I stray.
Today all of the above qualities and more were re-enforced in spades. I was at the office to pick up a prescription for Cody. I was talking with the office assistants and mentioned my fear of perhaps someday having to board the "kids." They have a boarding kennel there, and offered to show me around to reassure me how lovely the accomodations are!! :) I mentioned that my kitty Mr. B has asthma and wondered if he would be watched closely enough. Well, they have a special section in the kitty kennel for those with "special needs" where they are observed very closely. I looked around, and in the far corner crate lay the MOST adorable, tiny little kitten named Pidge all curled up in ball!! :)
White and grey and salmon colored. SO tiny!! They let me pick him up and I noticed his little front paws were "pigeon" toed!! Seems he has a congential joint deformity!! :( But that doesn't keep Pidge from being frisky and playful! I asked whose kitty he was. They told me he was the "office" kitty. No known guardian! Seems Dr. Paul found little Pidge, only weeks old, wandering on the roadside by the hospital. He took little Pidge in and examined him. Seems that, besides his joint problems, he also has an esophageal deformity that prevents him from eating most solid foods. They are feeding him special formula and blended solids. And when he is old enough, Dr. Paul is going to perform corrective surgery on his esophagus and put him up for adoption to one of the many hospital clients and workers who are standing in line to adopt him. But the kennel assist. says that is if Dr. Paul doesn't adopt Pidge himself! I am so lucky to have Dr. Paul as my vet!"
