View Full Version : My Odd Eddie
Edwina's Secretary

Every night he brings the two sticks you see in the photo, one at a time, upstairs and puts them beside the bed. He also brings one to three other toys. I return everything downstairs each day. I put the sticks in all different places. He finds them and brings them back.

I had thought it was an offering of some sort to me, but now I am wondering....is it a gift for Edwina so she will let him get on the bed????
I have pondered other possible meanings....Is he spelling something out to me? Are they arrows pointing to something...or is he just...well...odd???
(We won't even talk about his love affair with his binkie!)

Heee. Eddie and Rizzo must be long-lost cousins. Sounds like Rizzo’s seal fetish…except Rizzo brings his “catches” downstairs to us instead of upstairs! Last night we found FOUR stuffed animals downstairs. A new record. Three seals and a bunny! No wonder we got no sleep last night. He WAAAIILLLLSS the whole time he’s carrying one of his critters.
Eddie, I always knew you were a bright boy. You’re just trying to tell Blondie that if she REALLY loved you, she’d figure out a way to play with you in her sleep, aren’t you? :D

Remus must have some relation too, he insists upon bringing his bell mousie into bed at night and chews on it in his sleep! hearing ding ding ding at 3 am kind of is unerving!
*Guess thats why MIL didn't take that toy with her lol*

:D
I think you've hit on something with the idea that he's making offerings to Edwina. Now, if he could just learn to open the refrigerator door and get at the Honey Roast Turkey....;) :D

All I can say is, that is just too darn cute, but I would love to get into his little kitty head to find out the meaning of all this.

Oh Eddie, you're not odd... just determined. Please be patient with us and we'll eventually figure out what it is you're trying to tell us!

How cute! I guess he is just like an infant ... has to have his "routine" and toys before settling down for the night!!!
Just precious!:)

Maybe he thinks you guys are playing a daily game of hide and seek and he's bringing you his findings everday :).

It might be an offering to Edwina, or he may just want treats.:)
You can add Joey to the list of related kitties. She brings us socks and towels and sometimes her toys. She used to only do it at night. Accompanied by the the same wail that Rizzo does. Now she will do it in the evening and drag them to where ever we are, normally she wants treats. She still does it at night and every morning we put her towels and socks back.:)
I am glad to hear that she is in such good company.:D

Aw, Eddie's not odd, just wants to bring up a few toys to
wile away the hours waiting for Miss Edwina to come down
off the big bed and join him.:)
Believe it or not, my kitties play with the stick ends as much
as they play with the feathers.:D

What a cutie! :)
I think kitties have thier own place they like to put things. Sami and Phoebe love to put toys, paper, even our clothes and towel under the small cat tree in our living room. Its amazing what we find when we get home.
The other cats like to put things on our bed, the couch or under things like the fridge or oven.

Can I add my Kunan to the list? He has his "string". He brings it upstairs, or wherever we might be, wailing the entire time. ANd it is really funny to hear as he hasn't figured out it is easier to wil without something in your mouth. He will also lay down, drop it from his mouth...and then "talk" to it. The first few times brought wither hubby or myself running becuase it almost sounds as if he is pain or something, but we finally figured out he is just having a conversation with his string...talk about odd....

I don't know why dear Eddie does such a thing but I know it is darn cute! How neat that he does the same thing every night. Maybe he remembers his street "toyless" days and wants to make sure that he is never without toys again!:D http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/biggrin.gif

I dont think that Eddie,is Odd,its just that sometimes Cats, that were Strays, will form an attachment ,to things,as it makes them feel secure, that thier toys, are laways there for them, and The Found Cats,do this all the time!

Last night one stick was on the floor and one was one the bed. How I would love to see him jump up on the bed with that in his mouth! But he only does it under cover of dark....:D :D

Aww, that is SO sweet. :) I think he's bringing you presents for being such a good mom. ;)
Isn't it funny how they develop habits, Fister likes to do everything at the same time too.

I think it is just a cute and sweet little "quirk". My Dylan, who freely shares all toys and never shows any possessiveness that I have seen...at some time during the night...gather HIS toys and plunks them in HIS food dish:rolleyes:
I sometimes wonder it is because he too was a stray and a shelter kitty, had a home and was given up again...

I was wondering.....what do you think he'd do if you just left everything where he left it? Do you suppose he'd drag it all back downstairs again? ;) :D

I think Eddy is just amusing himself. At least he doesn't sit in the bath tub and "talk" to the water faucet! That's Chester's idea of a fun time!:D

I know what he says: He says: these wands came from auntie Barbara and Uncle Siegmar. Why can't the two of them be here:D

He-he, this reminds me of those birds that bring special gifts to their females (I especially like the one that brings blue things :) ).
I am sure he's bringing more than one because he's bringing them to you AND Edwina :)
I noticed the mouse :) I'm glad they're still playing with them.

Perhaps since he chose toys from some of his European friends he is asking for a trip to Europe! Of course...I would have to travel with him as he is a minor....:D :D

Whatever the meaning is behind all of this, I think it's very cute.:)
When I first adopted Sunny his foster mom gave me a cat dancer which was his favorite toy. He loved it so much that he'd sleep with it every night. I also received a brown catnip mouse with Sky and he used to do the same thing.:)
