My vet has a pit. Her last dog was a pit, too. She just absolutely adores them, and her dog comes to work with her every day and meets all the clients. Very, very sweet and obedient dog. Georgous, too.

I'm not sure where you are located, but a great site on pitties is

http://www.badrap.org they are a rescue group running out of san fransisco, but even if you are not in the area they have a lot of great information. there are so many misconceptions about pitties these days, it is important to read some facts! good luck!

well.....

you have a golden retriever puppy..?don't get a full grown pittie! orr do you have a small child??? at the spca...they don't adopt out chows or pitts or matiffs to homes with children under the age 12 i think 12...they are the most unpredictable breeds..in my vet, mine, spca,a few owners i know, and lotttts of animal cruelty police!

the pitt owners i mentiond...
say...
they are the most wonderful pets...but are not for kids..or puppies unless raised together...to many terrible tragities..

i have nothing against them...there gorges! just be caucious!!!!!!!

Yes i know. I have an e-book that has a section just for pit bulls and how and why they have a bad rap. Just seems to be the low lifes that attracted to them. Because of the fact the pit bull cant be with other dogs i would not get one. A bull boxer is also a fighter but there good with other dogs. Im hoping my future dog will the that part of the boxer. Also boxers are said to be one of the best guard dogs in the world (WHAT A BONUS) I dont want to combine these 2 because they are fighters i want to conbine them because there parents are amazingly loyal, sweet and extremely intelligent dogs.

Am I the only one who sometimes can't tell the difference between a pit bull and a boxer? To me, they look alike, though I've often wondered if I'd feel differently if I could just see two perfect specimens side by side.

I love them both, though. My neighbors who had a boxer recently moved, and I miss the dog Lola's grumpy face.

not always, the 'unpredictable' breeds (which is ALL breeds/mutts) can be around kids. our neighbors got a 6-year old chow for their kids and there were tragities.
also a friend of my dad, has 4 bullmastiffs-great with her kids.
her sister has 2 mastiffs which are great with the neighbors kids.

APBT ==== American Pit bull terrier I believe is what she means. and that is one gorgous little boy . Hope he's home and doing better. (update us please)
As said many times here on PT No bad breedsjust bad owners and rotten training (or lack of) I know springers and cockers who have been more damaging than any "aggressive" breed.

well the boxer is taller, bigger ears (if cropped correctly), more slender and has a smaller, smushier face. also it can only come in brindle, fawn and white.
http://www.cani.net/razza/foto/boxer.gif

the pit bull is smaller, more bulky and can come in many colors. solids, patterns, shades, etc.

Labman, if your looking for a pitty, I recommend you joining this forum:
www.pitbullforum.com/index.php

There is a lot of knowledgeable people there, and a lot of people that do rescue who can point you in the right direction for locating a pit... :)

http://www.pbrc.net/home.html
This is also a good site.... You can find many pit bulls (puppies and adults) that need new homes in your area.

Good luck with your search.. :)

Seriously!!!

Not just big dogs can be dangerous. I've seen more small breeds growl and attack than I've ever seen a Pit Bull attack. In fact, i've NEVER seen a Pit Bull attack or met an aggressive Pit Bull.

Would you just LOOK at this horrible, unpredictable dog?

Please, i'm so sick of all of this crap about Pit Bulls. If you honestly don't know what you're talking about, it';s best not to say anything at all.

Kfmr is right if you don't know barely anything about a breed then don't bother giving any advice and if your going to say that about pitbulls then you probably think the same thing of Rotti's which I happen to own one.

I have see what they can do. I do know what they can do. Have you seen the ignoramous "people" who have "owned" these animals, and how they treated them causing them to be this way?

I wouldn't trust any dog alone with babies or small children. Heck, I wouldn't trust some people with children!

Some what dumb?? Have you read your own posts?
Honestly, don't say anything unless you can back yourself up because you're proving to be nothing but such. I have not done or said anything rude to you so don't go calling my posts "some what dumb"

I didn't quite understand the entire post but I think I get the jist. I have also NEVER met an aggressive Pit Bull. I actively volunteer at the Vancouver Animal Shelter which consists of 90% Pit Bull (crosses) and Rottweiler (crosses). There were a few dog aggressive Pit Bulls but I've never evvvvvvver met a human aggressive Pit Bull. Yes, there are some but for every 1 pit bull attack, there are how many more Pit Bulls with stable temperments? The media focuses on the Pit Bulls that were raised by idiots, not the nice, friendly Pit Bulls.

They were originally bred to fight in the ring but they were immediately disposed of if they showed aggression to the referee. They're great family dogs and were never intended to be human aggressive, only dog aggressive (but now responsible breeders are trying to breed it out of them). Anyways..that's probably longer than it should be but I just had to add that. I hate to see people misinterpret what Pit Bulls are really like.

And my final two cents, please don't take this personal and call posts "dumb". Friendly debates are great but calling each other dumb doesn't get you anywhere.

If you made your words clear and less confusing it wouldn't seem that way.

how in the heck did me posting a picture of a child and a Pittie make you look dumb?

And how is me not trusting a dog with a baby getting you steamed?

fuzzbuttbuddy
07-17-2004, 12:22 AM
confusing????????

it made me look dumb cause ...well..because your acting like(just how i see it) i'm wrong for saying i don't trust pitties and kids.."hey lok at this unpridictable dog" and i got steamed cause after you said that you say" i wouldn't trust a dog with a baby!"

thats why

Eh, I guess you're only how you make yourself seem. I, nor anyone else, can make you seem dumb.

and I said

I wouldn't trust any dog alone with babies or small children.

ALONE. While supervised, yes. But never ever alone.
