His grandma got to hold him for the first time and he did great! He has only been around her maybe once or twice while he was caged. He seems to be comfortable around strangers which is great!

When she put him down he layed on the floor and showed her his tummy.

Here he heard a big crack of thunder. This boy is scared to death of thunder and firecrackers!

Here he is sleeping on my chair. He loves to have his little butt hanging off.

Here we are having our love/play session. He loves neck scratches and when he's happy and relaxed he always lets his mouth hang open. I think that is so cute!

If you look close you will notice he is missing most of his small bottom teeth. I'm not sure about the rest of his mouth except the fangs! They work great!!

No I'm not smashing his head! I was giving him face rubs and he loves it!

Here he was licking my hand but I missed the tongue in the picture.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid127/p4e2cfc59e90b5be929bea38fd4c48da2/f7e7ad00.jpg

Whenever I'm scratching his neck he holds on to my arm really tight but with no claws. He doesn't want me to quit!
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid127/p296b2acd711d8877fa16c2bf88b00424/f7e7ad1d.jpg

When he is done he's ready to play and he gives me "Love Bites"! No pain and they are very gentle play bites. Thank God! http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid127/p565f78542a64bd0a34484f1776d11177/f7e7ad19.jpg

Then he takes a bath. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid127/pcc7c3371debb1e9eca945d2a1eadedb9/f7e7ad24.jpg

Then he takes a nap and we do it all over again! http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid127/pacef284359252cf14a8f712bda62851f/f7e7acf5.jpg

......................AND SO ARE WE....................................

Oh, oh, oh, what sweet, adorable, lovely, to die for, pictures.
His paws wrapped around your arm is just so priceless.
I still can't believe how he has made a 100% turn around.
I can actually read about him and see his pictures now without getting all choked up. Still get a little teary-eyed, but that's expected.

Thank you, thank you, thank YOU CCL, for making my night and showing us such wonderful pictures of our Magoo and letting us know how well he is doing...

Big time kisses to you Magoo.

Oh Mr. Magoo, have I told you lately how much I love you???? We are so proud of you and I know that most of the credit goes to your Meowmie! She and has worked so hard to make you feel comfortable and now she's basking in trust and love that you show her.

Thank you CCL for continuing to show us all what love and patience can accomplish.

As for that belly....RUB RUB RUB RUB RUB RUB

Oh Magoo updates are the best! That little kitty boy has a huge fan base. I can even get my husband to look at pictures and follow his story. By the way, he agrees that Magoo is Ripley's Mini Me. I need to find a similar posed picture of Ripley and do a comparison.

Big hugs and scritchies to sweet Magoo!

CCL, such great photos. I, too, feel so pleased that Mr. M has gotten with the program and done such a wonderful turn around in behavior. He must be so, so happy now. I hope that you feel the wait and pain was worth it. We didn't have the visit to the ER and have our homes sectioned off etc. - you did, so we only got to view and read about the stress and strain and PAIN. I have a funny feeling that Mr. M is paying you back in warm, fuzzy, good behavior now. What a love bug. And what wonderful mommy and daddy people you two are.......He is so forturnate.

Thanks for sharing this guy with us.

Love,
SAS and her girls

I couldn't have said it any better Slick! This little sweetheart is certainly thriving and has made huge strides. I don't think there is a question in anyone's mind that he landed up with the most perfect meowmie in all of the world. I love it when kitties show their tummies and allow tummy rubs. To me that says so much about trust. My Andy will only allow that for very short periods of time. The fact that Mr. M feels comfortable doing it at all amazes me. CCL you are one special meowmie! :)

Can someone direct me to the thread where Magoo entered the picture?

I don't really know his story.:)

Awwe! You guys make his Mommy cry with all the compliments! You all think I did it and I think you all did it because you got me through it! I guess he really does belong to all of us!
Sas- I now feel the pain was worth it! It's funny because the hurting me never really was my biggest concern. It was the fear that he would do one of the other kitties the way he did me.
Yes, I'm so glad the house is back to one home and all the kitties, and hubby and I can now stop tripping over barricades! I didn't tell you all but five minutes before I took the last barricade down hubby tripped over it and broke his little toe!! So we both have shared our pain with Magoo! It has been a ride that I never want to repeat but the payoff has been worth it!!

Rose-If you do a search for Ocky and Magoo you will find many many threads about him. Ocular was his name at the shelter and I posted about him as Ocky several times. It is interesting reading! We all have been down a very long road and PT was my salvation!!! There were a lot of people who went way above the call of duty for me, tons of wonderful advice, easing of guilt, linking wonderful helpful sights, and even a phone call from PT's favorite nurse! It's been an incredible adventure! I'm glad you have been here to share part of it with us. Just do those searches and you will be all caught up.

How funny! I had forgotten all about Magoo's original name! :D That really sounds odd to hear now - like that was another cat!!
What a dumb name:p "Here kitty, kitty, here, OCULAR!"

catcrazylady
07-11-2004, 08:39 AM
Debbie it was hard for me to remember too! We all thought that was such a stupid name! I can't remember now who came up with Mr. Magoo. I'll have to do a search myself to find out who it was.
I have gone back and read some things before and it feels like a different life time. I was pretty much hysterical, guilt ridden, confused, and sick about the whole situation. I really can see/read my border line hysteria! It's a wonder you all put up with me!!!

Lisa - I did search and believe it was rkidrcats that first came up with the name. I think it is Pippin's middle name, too.

Was this all back in THIS April?? SHEESH - seems longer than THAT!!! More like last YEAR!

This is a really good thread though - all about your first impression and meeting of Magoo:)

Yes, I DO remember those roller coaster days! I remember the phone call too:rolleyes: I wasn't on the same ride with you, but I was feeling some of the nausea. I really gave up on him, too CCL. I was ready to ease your guilt because I did not think you were gonna be able to hold out:eek: I underestimated your stubborness. I mean, I WANTED you to keep him - but I also wanted to be ready and supportive if you did NOT - and I know *I* would NOT have been able to hold out - after the bite especially. I was trying to be a cheerleader, but I was not really feeling it:rolleyes: I remember asking you to go to bed one more night and pray yourself to sleep and that I would do the same and ask that you would wake up peaceful!

Everyone was so wonderful and supportive no matter which way I went. I remember a lot of "confessions" came from that situation. People told me things that were very hard for them to talk about and I learned so much about so many PT people. All of it was wonderful!!! I think Magoo made most of us reach down inside and wonder where the limits were. How much is one expected to do before giving up. I have to agree that "stubborness" had a lot to do with it. I think once I realized that life in a cage at our house was better than that tiny cage in the shelter was better than nothing then I relaxed some and let things take their course. I have to give tons of credit to the hubby because I was teetering on the edge of confusion and he could have easily pushed me over to the "take him back to the shelter" side.
Once I knew he was staying I allowed my heart to open up to him and the long winding road began!

Yes, it does seem so long ago! You were a great cheerleader and my wonderful nurse! I couldn't have gone through all of this without all of you!!!
I say it all the time but I MEAN IT!!!!

Mr. Magoo! Oh I love you so! When I visit PT the first thing I look for are new Magoo threads, hopefully with pics! What a sweet boy who has come SUCH a long way. BTW my Mitzi grabs my hand like that when I'm petting her. Definitely a little kitty love-lock! We are so blessed to have cats that love us back so much that they don't want to let go.

Was it only THIS this past April?? Gee, it seemed like a longer road than that but it just shows what a LONG way he has come in a short time!

For everything and everyone, that comes into our life, there is a purpose. Magoo came into our lives to show what love and patience can accomplish..

Now...I recall seeing only ONE photo of our little love with his Daddy. The one where Dad was laying on the floor acting as a barrier to keep him confined to a certain area.. What about some of some sweet moments, or curled up in Dads lap? Show that wonderful man to his fan club with our sweetheart!

If I recall, it was he that said "HE STAYS HERE!"

Lisa, as usual, I just want to cry when I see how far you and Magoo have come! I know he is one special boy, and my favorite boy of all. He is so derseving to have a wonderful home with you, and the love you are giving him.

Funny, everytime I see a picture of him, I know anything is possible!

Oh, what a great way to start a Monday!! What sweet pictures of wonderful Magoo!

CCL, I’ll confess. When Magoo was having all of those problems at first, this is what I thought would happen: I thought that you would probably keep him, b/c you don’t seem the type to go back on a commitment to a kitty, even when you would be perfectly justified in doing so. But I thought that he would always be more of a duty to you than anything. I thought he’d live in his cage, and be a constant source of stress because of his biteyness. I certainly didn’t think he’d turn into a love muffin! And so soon, too! Hearing how much you love him, and seeing how much he loves you, just makes me want to hug you both. :) So, here ya go. ((((((((((HUGS))))))))))

Yay, Magoo!!! :D :D :D

(((((HUGS))))) back at ya Twink!
I remember the turning point for me. When I knew for certain that Magoo wasn't going to become a constant stress between hubby and I, and when he made the statement that Magoo was not going back to the shelter that is when I opened up my heart. I think I was so afraid to before that because I didn't want to get hurt if I had to give him up. Once I let go and took down the heart wall...Magoo didn't have chance!!!http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/wink.gif

I also thought he would live his life in the cage during the day while we were at work. I'm still amazed daily at his progress. Lets not forget that the meds have helped him stay calm through all this. Thank God for them!!!
