This may have been done before, but not while I have been here. I tried to go back and search and see if it had been done before, but I couldn't find anything, so here goes.
Just wondering how many people here wear or own real fur? I am not judging anyone, just asking for curiosity sake.

I think it looks so much nicer on the proper owner! I would never wear fur...it is such a brutal way for animals to die just for fashion sake. I don't eat meat either, and haven't for 27 years!

Do you mean beside the golden brown bunny fur that seems to end up on any dark clothing I wear? No. I doubt anyone on this site wears fur that's not discarded from their own pets.

Good grief, no! I agree that the fur looks much better on the animal it was intended for. I wear enough cat/dog fur on my clothes to possibly qualify, tho. :)
Here's an interesting question though. I've got this seal fur coat that was handed down from my great-great grandmother to my mom. I've had the dang thing since I was 15 or so and it hangs guiltily and hidden in the back reaches of my closet. I'd never dream of wearing it. It's black and I have to idea what type of seal it's from and I don't care to know. My question is, what do I do with it?? Do I just throw it away? Do I give it to a cold homeless person who could use it? Will they get beat up for wearing it? Do I donate it to an anti-fur association for whatever purpose??
Please, I'd welcome all your opinions as I just can't bear to have it hanging in my house any longer.

No I don't wear real fur, but I do have a pair of foe-fur mittens. I also use to have a foe-fur jacket, but I gave it to my sister. I do have a suede jacket though.

I don't wear fur, but I do wear leather and eat meat. So I guess I'm not any better than those who do wear fur.
It's wierd. My dad was a butcher, and I was practically raised in a slaughter house. My family was butchers going back seven generations. It was just normal to eat meat, and working there never bothered me.
Now I'm starting to realize how barbaric we are, eating meat and wearing leather. We're - like - putting the dead animal's skin over ours. Isn't that gross?
You know what really got me thinking about this? We bought a farm and I was considering getting a nice little family milk cow. A small Dexter. They're sweet and they live 20 years or so and milking would be so relaxing etc. Then I found out you have to get them pregnant every year. I guess if the calf was a male you'd have it cut up for meat. So - we'd be out petting and milking our sweet little milk cow and eating her baby! How barbaric is that? It's really just plain evil.

Hell no. The idea of breeding mink, rabbit, fox, etc for the sole purpose of shocking it in the butt and skinning it, along with living its short life in a crowded smelly small cage is not at all appealing. And besides, I think fur coats are the ugliest things on the planet!

of course not! I don't eat meat either. I love animals too much! I couldn't have them be killed for my food or clothing.

You let me know when Cows go cluck, chickens bark, pigs moo, cats neigh and horses quack and then I just might wear fur....NOT
Why should I wear it when all I have to do is drop my hand down to my side and feel on the top of my dogs head?

The only fur I wear is the fur that my cat's shed on me!

We probably won't hear their side, but, I'd be interested in hearing the sides of the people who voted yes. I eat meat and wear leather, though, and, I don't see that that's any better than wearing fur. Seems kind of like a double standard to say it's ok to wear leather but not fur. I don't know, but, no, I don't have fur. I did have rabbit's feet keychains as a kid, and, I think I had a rabbit fur coat, too. Not sure, though, if it was real or not. I want to say it was.

Leather:
Not all the animals that it comes from went thorough a horrible life. It could be from a deer- which lived a natural life in the wild then was killed QUICKLY from an arrow/bullet. It could be a cow that died of old age on the farm and was skinned to make use of its carcass. Of course, I am sure there is some leather that came from cows/animals that lived a horrible life- that's typical.
Fur:
Every single piece of fur that came from a fur-farm means the animal was skinned alive- so the body stays warm, making it easier to skin off the fur. The animal also lived the crappiest life every imaginable in a cage WAY too small, hardly any food or water, chewing limbs off from bordem, mentalness, and hunger. It's horrible!
The fur that comes from trappers in the wild isn't any better-except for the animal got to live a normal live until it stepped into the trap. That animal had to suffer in a leg hold trap with it's leg/s mangled and throbbing in pain. Many animals gnaw at their limbs off in desperate attempts to get away- or fall victim to predators that make an easy meal out of the trapped animal.
I am a hunter and I am dead against trapping- it is horrible! Way, way, way, way worse than hunting!

No! The only time I ever wear leather is when I wear my riding boots. I'm trying to find pleather ones, though...But I don't eat or wear animals. The only fur I've ever worn is whatever Taffy sheds on my shirt.

No, I don't wear fur. Something about the thought of having a dead animals fur on seems so sad, and kind of creepy, and I agree it looks MUCH better on the natural owners! Cause they are so cute with their fuzzy little fur "coats"! :D

I don't wear fur but I do wear leather. My grandmother has thousands of dollar in fur coats that my grandfather bought her. She's got them all in storage because she doesn't have the heart to get rid of them. (She's an animal lover and it always embarrassed her to wear them.) She told me that they are all willed to me. Lord knows what I'll do with them.

I can't wear fur because I know that animals have to die for me to wear fur and I can't bear to see an animal die!:(
