I have a 2 year old himalayan/siamese mix, I have recently moved to another state - in the middle of that, I took my cat to my friend's house (who has 3 cats of her own). My cat (Macy), LOVED her new playmates - she was there for 3 months during this transition. I brought her to my new apartment yesterday, and now she seems VERy upset, meowing all day, all night long, she won't eat her food, she is going to the bathroom though in her litter box. Will she get over this?? Or will I have to adopt another cat? I have heard that cats do not have a sense of time, I'm not sure if that is true? I love her dearly but it pains me to see her so upset.

Please give me some advice on this....

Hey aprilynn,

Your kitty is lonely without her new found playkitties.
I would suggest definately thinking about adopting another, if you are able. I find cats are more happier if they have another playmate.
When I first got my boy,Thor, he was a small kitten and the people that lived above me ,at the time, said he would meow while I was at work. So, I decided that it would be good for him if I got another kitten to give him some company. This worked great....since then, I did loose my girl(who was Thor's playmate/sister), but adopted another little girl soon after. My husband and I knew that it would be best for Thor if we got another sister b/c we knew he would start to miss Nova.
I hope this helps. If you are unable to get another kitty, she may not get over the attachment/bond dhe had with the others.

thank you for the quick response.... unfortunately, I don't think my husband will allow me to have another cat. Maybe I could just happen to "find" one on petfinder ;)

Here is our newest little girl we got last year after we lost Nova (Thor's other sister). Isn't she precious! She has an evil kitten streak in her but she is so cute and lovable when she wants to be. She awaits at my door every morning and accompainies me into the bathroom where she sits on my lap when I use the toilet and watches me run the water for the shower :)

I would definately agree that your kitty is lonely!! I hope your hubbie will give in and let you adopt another. If not I would suggest leaving the TV on during the day when you aren't there and maybe it will comfort her some. Good Luck!!:)

It does sound as if your kitty is lonely. Jack became a terror after we adopted him from the world of the outside. He was young and wanted to play. My other cats were older and not up to such young shinanigans. The vet suggested hanging a bird feeder outside or getting some fish or some other caged pet to "entertain" Jack all day while we were at work. We did the birdfeeder thing and that seemed to help him, although we did have to rearrange the furniture a bit so Jack could sit on a little table to see out the window. Later my SO got gerbils. Now we have fish too. Jack prefers the fish. So if you can't get another cat, perhaps some other pet?

Yes I know how hard it is to see your little one so upset; my cat Katie went through that, but one day my mom brought home a kitten named Simba... at first my father was not impressed, but he loves Simba so much now. Simba is his little buddy. Katie and Simba are inseparable. Well... I think it's best to have two cat's. :)

That may be a short time to us hoomans, but to a kitty it is furrever. Of course you have to show us more pictures too! Welcome to PT!
