Hi everyone. I just wanted to let you know that Sky isn't feeling very well.:( He's been sneezing since yesterday and today he didn't eat all of his breakfast like he usually does. He's also been sleeping most of the day. I groomed all of the cats today and he didn't put up as much of a fight like he usually does. His nose also feels slightly warm and he just looks like he's feeling miserable.:(
He went to the vet last Sat. for his annual checkup and shots and has been fine until yesterday. He hasn't been any where since the vets. I'm trying not to worry too much because Sunny also caught the sneezies and didn't feel very good for a few days after he went to the vets and got his shots.
If he's a lot worse tomorrow, I'm going to have to take him to the vet to see if it's a URI. I sure hope not because then all of my cats will get it and Cirrus will be very hard to medicate. Please send some prayers and positive thoughts his way. Thanks in advance.

I hope it's "just" a slight cold and that he'll be fine in few days! :)
We're sending kisses and positive thoughts to Sky!

Oh Sky, your Meowmie is very worried about you and so are we. Please get better because you know how awful it is to get those terrible tasting pills shoved down your throat.
Prayers on the way KAK.

Prayers being said and fingers and paws crossed here that it's just a 'touch of a bug' due to the weather fluxuations... Poor Sky! Poor you!

Thanks for all of the well wishes.:) Sky took a very long nap today. He then came over to me and seemed like he was hungry so I fed all of my furkids early tonight. Sky ate very well and finished almost all of his food.:) Later on I gave all of them some cat milk and Sky came out to have some too. He even drank the rest of Sunny's and Storm's. He seems to be doing a little bit better except he's still getting sneezing attacks. I sure hope it all goes away in a couple days. Thanks again.:)

The shots themselves will make the cat feel badly a lot of the times. It usually passes quickly. Kitty hugs to Sky.

I may need to take Sky to the vet tomorrow morning. He ate well this morning but not this evening. His left eye is also tearing. He still gets sneezing attacks and sounds like he has the sniffles.:( I tried to take his temp. but he got very upset and growled at me and wouldn't hold still long enough for an accurate temp. Cirrus became very concerned and started crying because he was worried about his brother.
Please continue to send prayers and positive thoughts Sky's way. I sure hope that none of my other furkids get sick. Thanks again everyone.

Wow, Sky doesn't sound at all like himself. :eek: :( So sorry.
~~~ Healthy vibes at you, sweet boy! ~~~
Tracey, I sure hope that you have better news about Sky.
Rascal had a few days of sneezing, but he is better now. The weather here has been so overcast until late in the day (June Gloom), that I wondered if that had anything to do with it.
Give all of your babies a hug from me.
Poor Sky. It does sound like a URI. I hope he gets better soon and that your other kitties don't catch it.
Of course I know you have no way of knowing but I wonder if he had one as a kitten. Jazz had a severe URI as a kitten and she has had a couple of flares of it since (she just turned 2 years old last month). My vet told me this is very common if they had one as a kitten. He said the older she gets the less flares she will have and then when she gets to be a senior she may have trouble with it again. Maybe that is the case for Sky too.
Get better sweet Sky!
I'm taking Sky to the vet this morning at 10:45am. I'm hoping that it's only a bad case of allergies. I've noticed that Sky and Sunny both tend to have sneezing attacks at times so I try not to worry too much. This time it's lingering and he sounds so stuffy. I hope the vet can give me something to make him more comfortable. Thanks again for all of your concerns.:)
Jazzcat, Sky did have a bad URI before I adopted him so I don't know if it's another flare up or not.
Well Sky is sick with either a bacterial or a viral infection. His temperature is 102.8 which is quite high.:( I told my vet that he hadn't been any where since his last vet visit which was on Sat. the 12th. My vet didn't know how he caught this bug but said he wouldn't charge me for the office visit since he may have caught something from another cat that day.
Since we found out that he hadn't been tested for FIV yet only FELV, we tested him and luckily it was negative. He had to be poked 3 times before the vet could get any blood because his veins are so small.He wasn't a happy camper either and growled, hissed, and tried to bite the whole time. He was also given some subcutaneous fluids to help his temperature go down. He fought the whole time and had to be held down by 2 people while I squeezed the bag to make it drip faster.
He's on 1cc of interferron once a day until better, 2.5cc of amoxidrops 2 times a day until gone, and terramycin 3 times a day as needed for his weepy eyes. I thought he might be a very difficult patient since he was today at the vets but I got lucky and he was very easy to medicate. Hopefully he'll continue to be as easy when he starts feeling better.
Since it took much longer than I thought, I called into work and found out that we are slow today so I decided to take the day off. Now I can monitor my sick baby Sky today. Please send more prayers and positive thoughts to him. I sure hope that these meds do the trick and that none of my other furkids get sick. Thanks in advance.
Hope he is feeling better soon.
Oh no KAK, i'm so sorry to hear that Sky is more sick than you thought. Poor baby. I hope and pray that the medications kick in fast and Sky will be on the road to recovery before you know it.
Did you ask the vet what the chances on the others getting it?
Are you keeping Sky isolated from them?
(((((HUGS))))) to you KAK and headbumpies to sweet Sky.
(((((HUGS))))) to you KAK and headbumpies to sweet Sky. No,I didn't and I really can't separate my cats. It's probably too late any way because he's had this since Sat. and they've been sharing the same water bowls.
I'm sorry to hear that Sky is feeling so poorly, but he will get better soon, Tracey!!! I know it is difficult to see them so ill, but kitties bounce back from these nasty infections really well!
(((Hugs))) to you both!;)
Tracey - what a day you and Sky have had. The only good part of your story is that it was easier to give him the meds than you thought, once you got home.
He may already be feeling a mite better......and knows that all of this is for his own good - so he is cooperating.
I sure hope you see improvement soon. I bet he loved having Mom with him this afternoon!
I'm sorry that Sky caught something. I was hoping it was just a URI flare which might not be too severe. Poor little guy!!!!
I'll say some prayers and send some for the rest of your boys that they don't catch it.
I'm so glad that I was home all day yesterday because at about 3:30pm I saw Sky throw up.:( He didn't throw up liquid but the food he had eaten that morning. I called my vet and he had already left for the day so I paged him and also left a message on his cell phone. He finally called me back around 6pm and told me to give him 1/2 of a pepcid to help calm his tummy or I could mix the meds in with some wet food.
I decided to give him 1/2 of a pepcid and then feed him his dry food and this time it worked.:) He didn't eat very well last night but was very hungry this morning and ate all of his food. He was still begging for more so I gave him a little extra. That's the Sky I like to see.:) He was a little bit harder to medicate this morning so I know he's starting to feel a bit better.:) Thanks again for all of your concerns.:)
So far Sky seems to be feeling a little better each day. He's still sneezing though. He has a hearty appetite but he's also starting to get some diarrhea from the antibiotics. I bought some plain yogurt today and gave him some this evening. Luckily he seems to love it. I'll give him some more before I go to bed. So far all of his brothers are fine too. Hopefully he'll be back to his old self in a few more days. Thanks again everyone for all of your concerns.:)
Tracey, sorry I didn't see this sooner. I have been so busy working around the house, I guess I just overlooked your post.
Forgive me for being so late with well wishes.
Sky seems to be feeling a lot better today but one thing does concern me. He's still getting sneezing attacks. Sometimes he sneezes 6-8 times in a row.:( I think he may also have allergies because before he got sick he'd sometimes sneeze.
Thanks again for all of the well wishes, concerns, and nice comments.:)
I notice you posted the last update at midnight your time, how is he and the sneezies today?
06-27-2004, 06:04 PM
Since Sky was still having some major sneezing attacks, I called my vet yesterday. He said that he could do some tests to try to find out what's causing this since we think it's a bacterial infection or he could put him on another type of antibiotic for 1 more week. I decided to try the antibiotic for 1 more week and see how he is after that. This time it's clavamox in pill form. Luckily he's very easy to medicate.
He seems less sneezy today but is still quite stuffy. I think I'll also buy some nose drops called "Little Noses" for him today. He also started playing a little bit which is a very good sign. It's just taking longer than expected for him to get over this bug. Thanks again for all of your concerns.:)
