I remember reading somewhere that whiskers grow in proportion to the cat... ie. the whiskers are as long as the widest part of the cat. Dunno if that's true or not, but it seems to be. :)

This thread is so neat! I'm noticing how many have such unique whiskers. Some are straight out, some are hanging down, some are going this way and that way. It is really fun to look this closely at whiskers! Great thread Lori!

Pete finally got a title!!! The whisker king! We better hold off on that though because we may still have some big whiskered entries. Pete's happy to hold the title for the moment though! He is proud of his giant whiskers and eyebrows.

I can't believe it! Tubby has a whisker sticking out of the side of his face, just like Mystic! I've never seen any other kitty that had this and not only is here another kitty, but a blackie too! :D

I love Dudley's whiskers the most. They are two colors and very long! :D Sammy's are always getting broken off during fights with his brother. :rolleyes:

OMG! At first, I was thinking this was Pouncer, then I realized its not my boy!!! They're TWINS - except for the green eyes! He's a handsome boy, if I do say so myself! ;) Pouncer's whiskers are also two-toned, but not very long... yet. He's still got some growing to do and I've noticed them starting to fill out a bit more lately.

CCL: I don't think that Pete has anything to worry about concerning his title. It'll be hard to find a cat with more impressive whiskers than that! :D

Mitzi's whiskers are VERY short. I know cats use them like the old curb-finder "whiskers" on cars to navigate through spaces, although I don't think Mitzi would be able to squeeze her round little body through a space the width of her short whiskers.

I think Mishi and Noah look SO much alike... I think they look alike too. Mishi gives absolutely WONDERFUL foot massages (head rubbies and bumpies all over my feet)! I encourage him to do it and he willingly obliges me. It feels SOOOO good! :)

You'll start finding them as they grow older. I guess they don't really shed them as much as kittens or else they're so small you don't notice.
