Hi cloverfdx
I was told by someone that my kennel was being mentioned on this board so I came to have a look.
Thank you so much for the lovely compliments!
I see you really like Duke, he is a very special boy. Did you know he was born in Wales, and I imported him to Australia. He is in training for sheep work and is really coming along. He is so easy to work with and so talented. I just love him and could not ask for a nicer dog.
I really thought your dream dog was great.....LOL and one day Duke may have a merle pup... and then it really will be your dream dog..and I think mine too!
Don't be afraid to say hello or to come by and meet the dogs if you are in our area, and thanks again for the lovely compliments.
Deb
pS I see you have FDX in your name, I used to play flyball too.

I prefer dogs in shelters or other living arangements that are desperatly in need of a home. I love to rescue dogs.
But purbreds I would have to say:
Breed: Border Collie (Looks like lots of people choose this breed)
Sex: Male
Color: Red/White or red merle or tri red
Name: I'd have to actually see & be with the pup before I could name it
edited:
to change the color
I love odd coloring
this pup is awesome:http://MerleMatisse3.jpg

Yeah.. which is usually the reason those wonderful dogs end up in shelters.. :( which is where I got my Border Collie... BC's are NOT meant for anyone.. They're like a big version of Parson/Jack Russell Terriers - FULL of energy!! Plus many have a great (but people that get a BC and are not familiar with the breed don't think so) herding instinct...which is what they were bred for.. I have a lot of experience with herding dogs... grew up with and still have a Sheltie, my cousin has a BC, I used to have a deaf Aussie/BC mix, and now I have a pure BC myself. They're great dogs (for the right owner).. and I hope to run a BC and Aussie rescue one day and do Agility, Herding, and Obedience with 'em. :D I can't see myself now without one of these great dogs! ^_^

I know, it is terrible. I can not even attempt to count the number of people I have talked out of getting a BC, JRT, husky &/or Aussie, they are some of the main breeds that are strongly not reccomended for beginers.
My next dog will most likely be a bc or a bc mix but it will come from a shelter or rescue, thats for sure!
My whole life there have only been 3 animals that came from breeders, they were all rats, (I did buy a few from pet stores too) but every rat & every other animal that I have ever owned, cared for or fostered has always been a rescued animal, weather from the shelter, organization or me or a friend finding the animal etc...

Di that was very well said. I know someone at the moment who "Needs" a Border for Flyball and they are to most unsuitable dogs for this person and i know what will happen to the dog. The poeple get dogs then dont train then and then the poor things get put outside in dog pens and that is where they stay. :(
BlueMoon that is great you have joined Pet Talk. :D
Yes indeed your Duke is lovely.
Don't be afraid to say hello or to come by and meet the dogs if you are in our area, and thanks again for the lovely compliments.

pS I see you have FDX in your name, I used to play flyball too.
I will actualy be coming up to Batemanns Bay in September for a Flyball competition and then will be travelling around for a week or so, I would love to come by and meet you and your dogs.
Yes i am competiting with my Rotti X in Flyball still but she is slowly going into retirement, we need 200 more points for AFCh and then she will go as an emergency dog. I also have an 8 Month old Border Collie in training for Flyball, Obedience and we will start Herding quite soon. My BC keeps me quite busy. :D
Once again your dogs are beautiful.

Got one more LOL
This pretty cutie reminds me of our past dog Honetta. She was brown doberman girl, with uncroped ears! She was so great dog, and she LOVED to run. Sometimes when we were playing ball and she was catching it, I thought she'll die from running, because she was tired but she ran anyway!it's hard to tell, LOL but she was my sweetie girl...(that pic I found in the ineternet).
Breed - Doberman Pinscher
Color - brown (and that doggy need to be with natural ears!)
Gender - possibly girl
Name - dont know :D

Hmmm...my dream dog's easy--I have him! :D
He looks like the Border Collies on "Babe" as he is a Border Collie.
Color: Black with white marking
Gender: Male
Name: Blazer
That's my dog of course. If I had to exclude him, I'd say:
Breed: Pembroke Welsh Corgi
Color: tan and white
Gender: Male
Name: Butterscotch
He would be a super smart herding dog, a best friend for "Blaze" and would look like a perfect show dog! :)

heh sorry but I cant help myslef here
He would be a super smart herding dog, a best friend for "Blaze" and would look like a perfect show dog!
hate to disapoint you but that will never happen. show dogs are bred for looks alone, and herding instict is NOT harwired into a herding breed, to keep the instinct you have to breed for herding ability and that alone. basicly its like saying you want the perfect baseketball player but he must be bewteen 5'6 and 6', blond hair, blue eyes, between 100-150 lbs.. well you get the picture lol

hey, I know I could never have a perfect showdog, but heck, what's wrong with dreaming anyway?? :) My dog has a great herding instinct even though he's never been trained...he's been herding our family members since he was 7 weeks old, lol!! I know what you mean by a "perfect show dog" though--I know I've never seen one, nor will I ever get one for that matter, still, I like to think about it! :D

Yeah.. which is usually the reason those wonderful dogs end up in shelters.. which is where I got my Border Collie... I can't see myself now without one of these great dogs! ^_^
I completely agree, with cloverfdx also. we rescued an 8 month old aussie/border from the Sacramento Shelter in March.. he was the most adorable puppy I think I've ever seen, really lanky and sweet and mostly white with black on his face and really big, light brown eyes. He was on the website and overdue to be PTS, so my dad went and got him. we found out his former family turned him in because he was "hyper" and "knocked the kids over", which is pretty unusual for a BC puppy! he wasnt adopted because the shelter put him in sick bay, and listed him as deaf.. although he was not at all! we found the most awesum home for him in East Bay, with a BC-experienced family that we met at a flyball tourny. they named him Danger and he's already in advanced flyball classes ^.^
Border Collies are totally one of the cutest and most recognizable breeds, but you're so right about their intellegence and energy.. they aren't a dog you can leave in the backyard all day, or that will sit around the house. Atleast a lot more BC rescues are forming and people are actually becoming a lot more educated on the breed. what really kills me is when I see ads for Border Collie pups from puppy mills and pet stores... its the worst. anyway, I noticed the first pic you used was from Border Collie Rescue of Northern California! thats the cutest dog ;P

Firstly I agree with the last post, Border Collies can be brill great dogs, the are ssoooo intelligent etc BUT in the wrong hands they can end up nervous wrecks, especially dogs like where I live (the Derbyshire countryside England) which are bred for herding sheep, many have a long line of working dogs in the parentage, they are bred to work and that is all they want to do. I would always say to someone wanting a BC, NOT to get one from a farmer, they don't always make good pets unless you have the time to devote to them, they where bred to work day after day on the hills with sheep, being the constant companion of the farmer.......not to live in a house, left on their own for hours etc.
OOPS I have gone on far to long ....sorry
My dream dog is the one I have now........Sasha a GSD + Mal.....whom I luv dearly

An Otterhound, Komondor, Kuvasz, or other large flock guardian breed. I'd like to have one of these breeds mixed with Foxhound. I think it would be adorable not to mention a good watchdog/working dog/companion on my dream farm.
Here's a close pic to what I would want: http://tinypic.com/4rvtbk

I think my dream dog would be a big black and tan dog from the pound who is the sweetest most loving dog in the world...oOh wait a minute, I already have my dream dog!! I guess my "second" choice would be any offspring of my sweet wonderful black and tan dog...Oh, UM, he's neutered...so I guess, I don't know...the next dog that grabs my heart I guess!!! ;)
Although I do love Bernese's, Pyrenes, Akitas, Leonbergers, GSDs....I could go on and on....:)

I assume we are talking show dogs here, because I could never have a perfect rescue picked out, they have to pick you and you have to form a bond with them. I have many sepecific qualities for a dream dog!

From the JLS kennels, by BIS BISS Ch. JLS Just A Fig Newton (L) out of a nice Givens bitch
How does your dream dog look like?LIKE NEWT EXACTLY! big, Uniform spots in liver, with a smooth, arched neck that fades beautifully into the neck. I do not care what eye color, as long as any brown eyes are very dark, I like blue and odd eyed a lot but that would be a slight fault.
What breed is it?Dalmatian
Color?Liver spotted
Gender?Male
Nameeither- Mezzo Mix "Mixxer, No Touchy "Kuzco", or Oceans Apart"Oshey".
2.
How does your dream dog look like?Like this in shape and with the same ammount of white or more, I call it the "classic blanket white" although it is called piebald, but I mean the place the white is, oh enough talking here is the pic!:

How does your dream dog look like?
What breed is it?Catahoula Leopard Dog
Color?one or both or crack blue eye- hmm.. yellow brindle or grey leopard with patchwork with tan trim probably, or blue and tan, full tailed for sure though, I love happy smacking wagging tails, the fact that the bob is natural would be ok though.
Gender?Male
Name??

I am strongly against [buying any dog you are not showing or competeing in performance events, I mean, if a patch puppy shows up in a litter (yes, even the very best get patches) he still needs a great home.
There are way TOO many dogs in need of a home to do that!
