During the initial days of the war in Iraq I watched the news reports with interest.
CNN hired a doctor who traveled with the troops as a reporter, reporting on some of the conditions the army medics had to endure. During one report, Dr. Sanjay Gupta commented that he volunteered to operate on a soldier who had a rather severe head wound-since there we no other doctors available to do a risky surgery....
It was a great story and I wondered what had happened to that soldier. It turns out that he lives in the next town from mine.

It's pretty amazing-considering the type of wound, the conditions that the Gupta had to operate in, and the use of drill to get to the clot...
