Ok, hubby wants to give students an award for getting an A average for the year. Out of 120 students, he has about 30 with A's all 4 semesters, and a few more that had a high B once or twice, but the year still averages out to an A.
We can't decide which certificate we like better (OK, he likes one, I like the other, and the kids are split down the middle too)
So without further ado, here's Geography Certificate Option 1:

Geography Certificate Option 2:
http://img25.photobucket.com/albums/v74/kimmel101/misc%20nonsense/award2.jpg
Lastly, do you think we should put anything else on the certificate? It looks rather blank on the bottom left (hubby will sign on the line to make it all official ;) )

Here's my vote!
What a good idea....awards!

I like the first one's background but how the second one's text curves at the top.
Possibly put the school year on it? 2003-2004?

I like the first one best. I think the curved title makes the whole thing look fussy, and for some reason, the space between the two words being off-centre makes it look odd to me. And, if you go with the first one, the bottom left hand corner has a little box in it, so doesn't look empty!
I hope you will let us know what you decide on.

I like the first one as well. I like the corners better and the design. I also agree with Kay that putting the school year on somewhere might be a good idea too :)

#2 only make the Geography Award straight like #1 and add a line at the bottom left for the principal's signature:D (the map is more authentic)

I like the first one.....it looks "fuller" the second one I like to but it looks like it is missing something with the space at the bottom.

I like the first one better.
Just a note, though--It's hard to tell because they're so small, but I think there may be a typo on both. It looks like the last line says "Mr. Skiles' Geogrpahy Class."

I didn't even notice that. :o

I like the second one best because it shows the whole world, not just the North/South American half, and I think it's so important for kids these days to have that "global perspective" -- even if they don't realize they're getting it. ;)
As for the bottom left, I think the school year and the name of the school would be a nice touch, and also, under the signature line, I think you should type in your husband's name and title, i.e. Mr. Skiles, Geography Professor, and if you could get one of those imprinting stamps like a seal, that would be a fantastic touch! I think you might be able to get them at a stationary store or hobby shop type place.
Great idea to recognize the outstanding students! :D

Thanks guys! I am so :o :o embarassed :o :o about my little misspelling. :o I honestly typed them up in a hurry last night and them just copied and pasted the same error onto both! :o
I like the map on the first, but in person, you can't really read what the little square at the bottom says... its too grainy and that bothered me, hence the second map that doesn't have that. I tried a different color combo. I liked the curved wording better until it was pointed out about the spacing being off center (LOL!) Amazing how much you don't notice until someone else points it out! :D
I will add the name of the school and the school year. I was thinking about it, but didn't know eactly how to word it. I litterally spent ten minutes making these last night because hubby wanted to take them into school today for approval to give them out to the kids. Then we had a quick debate on which one was best... and we came to a draw. I like one, he liked another, both kids who were up liked a different one too.
Thanks folks! Keep the suggestions coming!! :D :)

I like the first one. I'm in agreement about putting the school year, semester/term or graduation date on it AND the name of the school (perhaps in the box on the left).

I really like the first one. :)
If you want any other suggestions for filling up that lower left hand space, I would maybe put a little blue ribbon or gold medal clip art thingy in that spot. :)

I like the second one, but with the straight lettering of the title of the first one.
I also like the idea of including the name of the school and the school year.

I like the second one, but I'd make the type a slight smaller pointsze, so it doesn't look so squished. On the bottom left side, put another line, matching the one on the right, where he will handwrite the date (spelled out June 2, 2004)- that's the traditional thing on award certificates. (I've done a million of ’em - okay, maybe not that many, but ...).
The school name, city/state should also be on the certificate, it can be somewhere small - who knows where these kids will be 10 years from now, 20, 30 - and they might want to keep it for their kids to see some day!

Wow, you are so super talented. I wish I knew how to do this kind of stuff.

I like the first one best. :) I think the top text is too close to the edge on the second, and squished. The student name is perhaps a little too big on both - if you put it one size down, the leading would also be better. Just my opinion. ;)
The student is gonna love getting it! :D
