70's? Well I remember quite a few fragments of that decade. Did you have generic BEER in your area? I don't want any, just asking if you remember. ;)
If I bring a note from Epstein's mother, can I have a whisky sour?

I think this is the first time I've ever come to Thursday's.
Could I get an amaretto sour? It's been rough with packing for the move to the new house, stupid city shut the gas off 4 days before we move (their mistake, now no hot showers and no cooking till new house), and we just developed a huge fast moving leak in our living room cause of the thunderstorm.
Wow, cherry root beer? I've never heard of that either. I'd bet my husband would love to try that, he loves all kinds of root beer.:)

I would like to propose a toast in memory of Mayor Karen's "sister", Bruni, who passed away yesterday. Karen has posted in Dog Memorial about this special pup who belonged to her parents.

And yet another picture goes up on our Memorial wall - this time of Bruni.
Here is to you Bruni - you are well loved.

Good morning everyone! Sorry I could not join the partee yesterday; it was a busy day for me. I just hate it when work interferes with my social life. :D
Yes Logan, I just read about dear Buni. A toast to Bruni and all of the RB kitties and dogs that have made the journey recently.
Don't know how much time I'll have today so I think I'll start off with a Spanish Coffee.
Richard, problems with authority? I hear ya. Sometimes I wish I could go back to the 60's; back to the time of student unrest and we could once again feel free to protest. How about we have a "sit-in" today. Down with corrupted government! Down with war! All together now....
All we are saaaayyyinnngg, is give peace a chance.
Edit: You know who's been missing from Thursdays? Ann and Andy. Anyone heard from them?

05-27-2004, 10:05 AM
Slick, anyone who says they remember the 60's is lying ;) :o Do you mean Ann & Andy or Ann & Pandy? How about it Willie, everything OK with them?
I was thinking the exact same thing about Ann and Pandy.
Are they alright? I was going to check out the Dawg side of things to look for them.

I think Ann has been so busy in her garden, she don't get on much, and Andy has been having trouble with his computer. Last I talk to Andy, he was having some sort of problem. Ann, gets online and comes in every once in awhile of a night or early morning.
Pandy is doing great, but they do need to get their butts back here. I'll send them a quick e-mail and tell them to get over here and check in with us!
Now a cup of coffee would be great, need it....:D
Willie, thanks for letting us know..........
Sit down, I will have some coffee with you -

Yeap, the wedding is on again! I told them I was going to rub their nose together really hard. Hard enough to break their noses. I suppose they are in training?!? Hopefully they will get all the crap worked out before the wedding and they will have a good marriage.
Funny, Lindsey told me that here in Tennessee, they make a couple go through 8 hours of marriage counceling before they get married! Must be something new, because that is the first I have heard this! Be nice if it was true, have to go to school before they get married and have to pass a written test. LOL, thats what they should do!
Thanks Gini for the coffee and the company. I have been trying to clean my house and get rid of junk for the past two weeks. You just would not believe what I have sacked up, and thrown away! I swear I think my husband is some sort of pack rat!! LOL, I got rid of so much of his junk, hehehe, hope he don't kill me when he finds it missing!:D :D
Come on over Lynne, there is always room for one more!

Could I have one of Richard's red slushy thingys? And make it a double, please. The cats need extra strength cat nip tea too, please.
At 1 am, I got up to go to the bathroom. I had just made my self comfy on the commode when the tornado sirens went off.
Good thing I was sitting where I was!!!!!!!!!!!
Luckily, the tornado went south of us!!!!
(some property damage in another county and in Missouri, but no deaths and only two injuries! Thank God!)
I sure have a headache today from all the excitement and lack of sleep!
Oh, could I have a double helping of hot onion rings too? I need comfort food!!!
Oh Moff - thank goodness you are alright.
Your comments made me laugh out loud!
Richard's red slushie thingys are excellent............

Oh Onion Rings - Yes please - I can overdose an them!
Good grief Moff - that sounds very scary - I'm so glad we don't get that sort of weather here. Well we did once in 1987 and the country came to a standstill - our garden shed ended up upside down in the middle of the lawn - looked very funny though!

He is all excited because my seven year old granddaughter is here for the week, and so he is just staring at her. He loves Cheyenne. I don't blame him, she is a cute little blonde, she is just adorable.
I think Mario could use a beer, and so could I. A nice cold beer!
Oh that sounds so scary, Moff! You live right in tornado alley don't you? I'm glad your okay!
I am really scared of them, we had one here, and it killed about 3 people in 98, I think it was in 1998. I had never seen such destruction before, they say it was and f4. My daughter used to want to chase tornados until that happened. Now she is just terrified of storms!

Hi all! I'll take a double of anything.
We spent part of last Saturday night in our basement. BF is not one to go downstairs and hide in any kind of storm, but he woke me up and said "LET'S GO!" I was awake instantly and grabbed a robe. We went downstairs after many minutes of trying to hustle the puppies down. They were pretty scared too.
We lost power at 12:05 a.m. Sunday morning and got it back 4:39 a.m. Monday morning. Heard there was an unconfirmed sighting (in other words, a person not trained as a weather spotter saw it) down the road of a tornado. Must have been something because it took out between 10 and 15 power poles. Took a couple of trees down in our yard, but no other damage. Some of our neighbors lost old trees. It pulled them right out of the ground. Pretty scary stuff it being that close!

Have you ever tried onion rings with mustard? Its actually quite good.
Mo-Mo - yikes - well at least you weren't far from the bathtub, isn't that one of the safer places in a tornado?
As for myself, I think I'll have a red slushie thingy and enjoy this nice weather just before the holiday - oh wait, our weather forecast calls for showers, followed by rain, followed by more rain, followed by possible thunderstorms, followed by more rain. sigh. On second thought, that Spanish Coffee sounds better and better. I'll make up a plate of nachos and enjoy the fire instead.

I haven't tried mustard. I did have a friend in high school that ate mustard on potato chips. I couldn't quite get brave enough to try it.
As to the bath tub... not in my house. It has windows right in front of it and it's over the basement. I don't go to the basement because it's usually full of water during rain storms plus my gas hot water tank and electical box are there. I'd rather take my chances with the cats in the house (under the bed). I wish I had kept my motorcycle helmet!
Looks like storms are firing up again. Right now they are in Missouri up near Kansas city. This has been such an active spring and we still have June before it calms down. YIKES!

Hey, folks. I got to come home from work early today because a wall of Hail came through the town. Pulled my van in the garage as Tornado sirens wailed.
Fortunately, the farm is 10 miles from town and most of the hail missed us. Ann put the car and truck in the carport, poor Pandy is still cowering in the bathroom!
How about a pina colada to go with our first ripe apricots? I'll pass the bowl around.

Oh brother, I did it again. How did I get here? I wasn't drinking last night and yet here I am.
Mimosas? Sure, why not. It's Friday and it's casual day and best of all, it's not raining. :) We've had torrential downpours here all week.
Welcome to Thursday's Randi. Hi Lynne. It's nice to have some "international" company.
Andy, nice to have you back, but where's Ann?
Laurie: good news about Jenny. Yes, PT prayers really do work. Please keep us in the loop. Does she know about Pet Talk?
Mornin' everyone.........well for once it wasn't me under the pool table with you Slick............
Friends of mine had relatives here from Guam. Unfortunately the husband has spent a better part of their vacation in the hospital. We tried to cheer him up last evening.
Randi, Lynne, good to see you here.........I think Laurie said something about Mimosa's - I would love to have one.
Randi, ANYTHING having to do with dentists ruins a perfectly good day. Hope you are feeling better now.
Ann, why do you look so angry? Willie - why do you look so sheepish? Andy, why are you hiding this morning?
Good grief, leave you alone for just a few short hours..........and why is everyone humming that song?

Once upon a time there was a female brain cell which by mistake happened to end up in a man's head. She looked around nervously but it was all empty and quiet.
"Hello?" she cried, but no answer. "Is there anyone here?" she cried a little louder, but still no answer.
Now the female brain cell started to feel alone and scared and yelled at the top of her
voice "HELLO, IS THERE ANYONE HERE?"
Then she heard a faint voice from far, far away.......................................

I'm starving. What's to eat?
Richard must be having a rough couple of days. Anytime he's not joining Thursday's usually means work is getting in the way.
Hang in there Richard, there's a good stiff drink waiting for you when you can make it.
Hey David: sorry to hear the knee is still giving you trouble. Would someone please get this man a double? That should take care of the pain (for now that is).

This sounds like here , Roger likes to help the neighbor lady a devoicee with 3 little kids . Clarissa gets a little ticked off, but is getting use to it. Roger is getting to learn not to be in her trailer but to work on only the outside of it.
Clarissa has a point the gal can fix it herself, Clarissa did it before she met Roger. If not got her dad to do it. The ex is there enough to see kids he could fix it.

One funny detail from my past is that I was a subscriber to the "free love" philosophy back in the 60's. Even when people are honest and open about fooling around, the consequences are often bad. Jealousy is a strong emotion, no matter what you think about it. One of the reasons that friendships between men and women are so hard to maintain is this subtext thing.
Marriage where partners really trust and support each other is a rarity and a gift. Good luck to you all (I mean that kindly).

Well I'm old fashison so is my husband of 25 years .We dated for 3 years ,so all this living to gether is a little hard to take for us. But we know Clarissa has a mind of her own and thank goodness we now don't have to help her undo stupid things she does Roger does.;)

Sadly, our culture is "monogamy challenged", more marriages fail than stay together, I think sociologists call it serial monogamy. Some people learn to be good to their partner after several failures. Sad for the kids, too.
I think it's best the way you did. I lived with my first wife 5 years, then we were married 7 years before she found someone new. Ann and I have been married 18 years now, but scars from our first marriages are still there. You might get C & R a copy of "Don't Sweat The Small Stuff In Love" or other self-counselling books. Best they don't marry now, it sure won't cure their problems!

Is the bar still open?
I'll grab a triple appletini, hold the apple
My parents-in-law are staying and I've been so good, but last night I was about to murder them. I know visitors and fish go off after four days, but my absolute tolerance is 1.5 days. Thank goodness it's a work day today and they don't have my phone number :)

Sorry - could not resist changing the music in the bar!!! Hope ya'll don't mind some redneck Bocephus for a bit...you can always turn it off :D
This crime in the city streets
Always trouble in the middle east
How’d they let things get so out of hand
Just watchin’ the evening news
that would give anybody the blues
The more I know, I think the less I understand
Chorus:
Oh Why can’t we all just get a long (neck)
And make a toast to peace and harmony
Why, Why can’t we all just get a long (neck)
And see how good getting a long might be
I’d like buy the world around
In the honky tonk neutral ground
So we can see that on the inside we’re all the same
Pop a top and let the good times pour
Til we forget what we was fightin for
I’ll ask again can someone please explain
CHORUS
As different as we may be
We’re all one big family
Cuz if we just agree we’re gunna disagree

Guess Hank Jr hasn't heard that alcohol is not allowed over there. Glad he'd "like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony" anyway, a lot of us are really tired and stressed over the never-ending crisis and conflict.
I'm sure ready for peace on earth, goodwill toward men. I'd drink (or abstain) to that!

Nothing worse than a dour old pacifist, regretting the waste of war on Memorial day. My apologies for that. This day is always hard, my Dad died on Memorial Day in 1994, guess I'm feeling blue.

05-31-2004, 11:29 AM
((((((mahayana))))))) sorry about that!!! You have reason to be blue. Today is a bittersweet day for all of us I think. Even patriotism is hurting my heart, I have to admit. But, I am very sorry for your blues!! :( I just spoke with my own dad, who still lives in Texas ( San Angelo is my birth home) and just had come home from mom's gravesite. She died in 2001, and was a WWII veteran. Guess we all choke back the sadness and just try to go on, yes?

I'll visit his grave later today. We live between Sweetwater and Abilene, so we're a short drive fron San Angelo. I used to go there for beekeeper meetings. My mom has been in a nursing home since 1999, thinking of her today, too.
You're right about keeping on. It doesn't help make the world a happier place to think sad thoughts. At least I got the day off from work, where there's life there's hope, all that.

Barbara, if you love animals and don't watch football 24 hours a day, I'd love to have you stay as long as you like :D ;)
Mahayana, I'm sorry about your father.
