My baby Tabitha just wasn't as energetic this morning, and the most frightening part, she wouldn't Purr or Suck on my earlobe!!! :( :( I packed her up in her "sack" and took her to the vet. She has roundworms and Coccidia!!! They gave her dewormer for the roundworms, Albon for the Coccidia, and Clavamox for some bacteria in her stool. The vet said that her heart sounded good, and she was not really dehydrated (thank GOD) but I asked them to give her a bit of fluids anyway, so she got a tiny bit on her back.
The vet seems to think that she will do fine now .... since the Albon works quickly on the Coccidia. I asked about the possiblity of Feline Leukemia, etc .... and she said it was most important to treat the Coccidia FIRST and then test later for that. They don't usually test for Felv or FIV at this young age.
Although the "rescuer" I got Tabitha from claims she had her for 2 weeks, my vet thinkgs she is only about 2 to 3 weeks NOW!!! Would you believe she only weighs .3 lbs!! That's right people, not even half a pound!!!
Please continue to pray for Tabitha!!!
THANK YOU

Oh no! She's so tiny to be having such problems! I'm sooo glad you noticed right away that she wasn't as active though. She's in the best hands - God's and Kim's - what more could a tiny kitten ask for?
C'mon little sweetie, you can do it, you've got people from all over the world pulling for you and we all want to see you grow up to be a big kitty suckling on your meowmie's ear. ;) :D

I am trying to be hopeful. i am glad the vet said that Tabitha's heart was good and that she was given some fluid. I hope the worms will be quickly taken care of and that Tabitha will be able to thrive. Kim, with you helping her, I just know dear little Tabitha can make it.

My vet at the Feline Hospital once warned me that Albon can cause dehydration- is Tabitha taking to the bottle yet? I'm sure she must be doing fine with nursing or you would have said something! Keep up the good work- it's clearly paying off! I'll think of you two tonight!

Leslie .... no, my vet has never mentioned that about Albon. She just said to be sure that Tabitha is fed every two hours. She really doesn't want to nurse right now, but I am forcing it on her. :( I sure am hoping to see her more energetic again soon, I miss her nursing on my earlobe and purring!!!:(

Kim, how's our little Tabitha doing today?

Tabitha is still pretty much the same today .... no worse at least ... and hanging in there for me. Her poop is still extremely runny ... but hopefully the Albon is starting to do its "thing". The vet said that it usually starts working pretty quickly!!! Paws crossed tightly here!!!
She sleeps all of the time, I have to wake her to potty, take her bottle and grab a few kissies and cuddles. Still no purring from her, which I really miss! :(
As long as she is no worse, and I can still get her to take her bottle every two hours ... I am hopeful. Needless to say, I'm not getting much sleep, as I am setting my alarm to be sure to feed her every 2 hours.
Please continue to pray for my tiny girl, she is just so tiny and frail right now. :(
