View Full Version : Now both my girls needed medical care today! :(

Noticed this morning that Lily had diarrhea during the night, and I agreed with my vet to get some diet food for both her and Luna (because she also seems to have had an upset tummy lately. She's eating again, but has thrown up last night).
And now today, Luna's bladder infection got really really bad! :( She went to her box a couple of times per hour and there were only a few drops coming out. So off to the vet we went!
It's a bit weird because Luna is already on antibiotics to cure her bladder infection, and now it has gotten so bad! The vet thinks she might have gotten some draft which could be because I have removed the draft protection things from my front door last week, but is has gotten so cold again that my floor was really ice cold yesterday.
However, Luna got two shots, one of them was an anti spasm injection (or whatever this is called) and the vet told me it often causes drooling in cats. Well, needless to say, of course it happened to Luna. And since she panicked and walked around, the floor of my entire place was wet with saliva!
BTW, the vet doesn't think that anything's blocked or that there are kidney stones, but if she's showing no improvement the next days, she'll need further tests.
May I ask for a few more positive thoughts for Luna?
Thanks,
Kirsten

Oh Kirsten, you have so much going on right now. Don't the girls remember they were going to be good and help nurse you along? ;)
I sure hope everybody, including you, is doing better soon.

Thanks!
Little Lily seems to be back to normal. At least there's no diarrhea anymore, and she hasn't pooped at all since yesterday morning.
But poor Luna isn't well. You could see she was really miserable last night, she did not eat, and she did not play. She was seeking a warm spot on my computer table, so I left the lamp on for her.
During the night, she used her box 5 or 6 times, and the pee biscuits had the size of a table tennis ball, so this at least was an improvement.
In the morning, she started eating and I was relieved to see that, but half an hour ago she threw it all up. :( I called the vet and she told me there's probably nothing to worry about. Luna had probably eaten too much on an empty stomach, and she suggested to only give her small doses of Hill's I/D.
Since Luna was begging for new food after she has thrown up, I gave her some i/d food and so far, she has kept it down. She's in my lap right now, purring and in a very cuddly mood.
I hate to leave her alone today but I have to leave here within in hour, for my MRI in Göttingen. I don't think I'll be back before 6 or 7 pm. :(

Kirsten,
First prayers for you and the MRI you will be undergoing. May it not be too terribly long, and may the results be positive.
Second, prayers for both the girls that Luna's tummy is just not used to the extra food, and that her peeing continues without blockage. And, that Lily has no more diarrhea.
Hang in there, and hope tomorrow hurries up and gets here!

Oh my goodness, such sympathy for you in a numbers of ways, first dealing with your own ailments, which I'm terribly sorry to hear about and now poor Luna with an infection and Lily with diarrhea (which I'm glad to hear is doing better).
Lots of positivity and healing power coming your way. Good luck with the MRI today. And I hope your girls are feeling better upon your return.

Thanks everyone! :)
Lily seems to be fine again, she has just pooped and it looked all normal.
Luna is still very exhausted, but the pee biscuits are getting bigger and she just wanted to eat again (and kept it down).
Nor the MRI... They found out it's a herniated disc, ;( the thread about it is here (http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=50065) .

I just saw this thread. I hadn't realised that Luna and Lily were not well either! Be good girls and get well soon - you were supposed to be nursing meowmie!

I'm sorry that I'm late to offer my concerns and sympathies but I'm so glad to hear that Luna and Lily seem to be doing better. You certainly have had your plate full lately. I wish there was more I could do to help. I just want you to know that we are thinking about you and we are saying prayers for you all.

Thanks! :)
Yes, it looks like they're doing better, both of them!
However, they're still on diet food, so I have to wait and see what happens when they're back on their "normal" food, but at this point, there's no diarrhea - and Luna's bladder infection seems to be much better! Her litter box behavior is back to normal now, she's eating and was playing with Lily today. She hasn't done that during the last couple of days, I figure running around was too uncomfortable with that bladder infection. But she was running around a lot today, so I guess she's feeling much better! :)
