Here we go again ... I received an urgent plea today to take in 4 tiny kittens. They are only barely 3 weeks old, if that much. Well, the person who brought them to me had been trying to get another mom cat to nurse them. Apparently this mom cat wasn't feeding them like she thought. I asked her how long ago had it been since they had eaten, to which she replied "probably last night"!!! Well, I have fed them twice now by syringe, and one just passed away. He was the tiniest one, and I was concerned for it from the moment I saw it. :( :( :(
This just utterly disgusts me .... and this person who brought them runs a 'rescue'!!!! But you see, she doesn't want to fool with kitties who need handfeeding! She knew these kittens didn't have a momcat when she took them in ... but out of greed, she attempted to hook them up with an almost dryed up mother cat of another litter. Now, because of her greed, they are very weak, and I am the one who gets to try and salvage what is left of them!!!! :( :( :(

Oh Kim, I am so sorry you lost one, but you know how hard it is at such a young age to care for them if they weren't brought to you in time. I cannot believe this woman runs a rescue. People who do things out of greed sicken me. They should be prepared with syringes and formula for times like this.
I hope and pray that the others make it. You will be in my thoughts and prayers tonight Kim. Bless you for even taking on these babies.

Kim, I saw your thread in Cat Memorial. I am sorry you lost the little black kitten and hope you are able to love and nourish the others back to health.

Is this the same "rescue" person you were working with before? I really wonder how she can call herself a "rescuer" when she doesn't know - or care about - the proper care of such tiny kittens.
At least the kittens are now in your hands and I'm sure they will thrive - except for sweet little Blackie. :( But at least he knew your love before he left for RB. :(
Please keep us updated on the progress of the other three. :)

How sad that you lost one! I hope the other three make it! I know that you'll do everything in your power to make sure they grow big and strong!

If they made it through the night, I would have my hopes up so high!! Raising babies on a bottle is so sweet and you get SO attached to them when you do that. Please get pictures and post before I have to go back to work (Wednesday)...

I'm sorry the black one didn't make it, but I'm sure you're doing a great job with the others! :) You certainly have your hands full!
How can that woman who runs the rescue be so irresponsible!!

I went here after I had seen the other 3 in General. Now I'm sorry to hear their little sibling passed away. However I am so glad that the others met you- the luckiest thing that could happen for them- and hope they make it! Poor kitties:(

I'm sure you will do a wonderful job Kim. I have no doubt that they will get the best imaginable care. Prayers on the way for the little ones and for you too. Thank you for trying to save them.

Yes Debbie, this is the same "rescuer" that I have spoken of before. She never fails to call me when she has a "problem" kitty!!!  My hubby gets upset with her (as I do) but what choice do I have but to try and salvage her negligence? There really are no other options for these babies, so whatever I can do, is their best hope. "No pressure there"!!! :(

I know what you mean, Kim, and I agree, what choice do you have? It's sad though that she knows that too, and that's why she keeps your number handy.

Do you still have the 2? Are they on a bottle yet? Are you making formula? (Watch out!! the big cats love the stuff!!) Are they healthy? Fat? Sing operas at you every 3 hours or so? I guess jan's new litter are ok- aside from bad conjunctivitis, I've heard nothing from her- mom is doing well considering...
Keep us posted!!

I'm very glad that you have the other two now. If anyone can pull them through and make them healthy again it's you.:) Please keep us updated when you can and hang in there.;)

she has only one left. So far so good but I can't keep up with the posts! Check "cat general" for updates! I think that's where she's posting now! Waaaaaaaaaa 3 babies gone! But at least Kim loved them for what time they had left in our realm. Kim, they would have "gone" anyway. they are with mom now and we will see them when we get there! You did your best and the best is all God asks! (and I'm not religious but it's a matter of (or "God" equals= right, moral, love, etc- I still believe in some kind of higher power that helps us all to be together again!- Energy never dies- just goes somewhere else! Those sweet babies and the love you gave them are still energy in our universe!).
And there will be others looking for you to help them! You can count on it!
