How wonderful to be greeted this morning by the face of Marley. All the Dogs of the Day are beautiful creatures, but I don't think I have ever seen a more revealing picture than the one of Marley. His personality comes through and reaches out to the point I want to cry.
I wanted so desparately to have the honor of being the first to congratulate this very special dear heart, that I used the trick of putting in one sentence, then coming back to *edit* and add more.
Marley, you are a gem! To think that anyone who had the opportunity to see and love you wasted that and could disregard the precious treasure who had come their way boggles the mind. Yet this story has a happy ending, because I can look at your picture and read your bio and rest assured that you are now in the hands and hearts of those who recognize and appreciate the wonder of a soul such as yours.
Marley, you are the Dog of the Day and you will be celebrated and admired all over the world. Now go play!

deserving DOG OF THE DAY. Hugs to you Marley.:)
What a surprise I had, to see the handsome Marley this morning! I thought I was looking at my Sweetie!!! Marley and Sweetie could be sister and brother, and they both had unhappy beginnings in their lives! To explain, see her story below (copied from when I submitted it to DOTD). You can see her on her website (sweetiedog.homestead.com). Congratulations, Marley, our DOTD!
>>>>Hi! My name is Sweetie. Until this year, though, I didn't have a name or even a home. For more than two years, I lived in the parking lot of a trucking company. The truckers would leave me food, but I was afraid of people and wouldn't let anyone get near. One nice man brought me food every day on his way to work. When it rained, I would hide under the trailers to try to stay dry. Winters were the worst, though, with no dog house. Many nights it was below zero and windy, but I survived, somehow!
One bitterly cold, snowy day last January turned out to be the luckiest day of my life! A trap was set for me, with fried liver inside -- my favorite! I was taken to a strange house, and was sure something terrible was going to happen to me! Instead, I was given a bath, all the food I wanted and a nice, WARM bed to sleep on!
Today I live in a real home, with a Mom and Dad who think I am very special and give me lots of hugs. There are three other dogs living here, and we have a great time playing together and chasing squirrels. The man who fed me in the parking lot for two years now comes to visit me here, and often brings yummy treats for all us dogs! Mom even made a website for me at http://sweetiedog.homestead.com so my trucker friends can see how happy I am in my new home.
My life is good now! I have a job (guarding the house), and other dog friends to run and play with in a big yard. We get treats first thing every morning and last thing every night. Whenever it gets cold and windy outside, Mom reminds me how I used to have to sleep out on the bare pavement in bad weather. Now, I have my own soft, warm bed, but during the day I like to get up on Mom and Dad's big bed and rearrange their covers. Mom just laughs about it, because she loves me!

Now that's one proud, happy pupper:D Marely, I can't say it any better than my dear friend Rachel, who posted earlier. (Lucky lady, she got to be first!) I can't imagine anyone abandoning such a handsome, smart, loving dog such as you. Just look at that incredible smile:) I took one look at that beautiful face of yours and broke out in goose bumps. I thought to myself, now here's one very special doggie:) I'm so happy to know that you are now in the loving home you were destined for. Your family is rightfully proud of their beautiful Marley and we are so proud to have YOU as our extra special, most deserving Saturday Dog of the Day! I wish you all the best in life and many, many happy and healthy years in the loving arms of your wonderful family! Congratulations to you sweetheart. Have fun day celebrating your "top dog" honors! Hugs and happy tail wags to you Marely from Sandra, Cody and Star:)
And a warm welcome to Dot and precious Sweetie:) What a heartwarming story of survival and rescue. You're one amazing pup, Sweetie! I visitied your terrific website and was so happy to see how very loved you are! You too are so deserving of the title Dog of the Day:) Hugs to you dear Sweetie! I hope you and Marely will both come visit us in the "Dog" section!

Marley's "Spanish markings" (I think that is what the typical markings with brown eyebrows, etc. are called) certainly make for a beautiful dog. Bernese Mt. dogs, rottis, and dobies have them, and so does Marley! She is absolutely gorgeous. Thank god for rescuers.
Years ago my mother adopted a cocker-probably long haired dachshund mix, Lucy, who looked a lot like Marley, especially in the face and ears. The hair was long and silky like Marley's, but she was all black except for four white feet. When my mother died Lucy was 12. We inherited her, and she joined our family of two Bernese Mt. dogs. They all got along wonderfully. Lucy lived till she was 18, with only annual check ups! I wish the same for Marley.

I had the same reaction when I pulled Marley's picture up this morning (sorry I'm late sweetie). Tears came to my eyes before even reading your story baby doll.
I am so happy that you have a wonderful home with people who appreciate you for the treasure you are.
Belated congratulations to the very special Marley--DOTD!!
Marley, you are so very handsome! What a love and spirit shines through your moving eyes - it was so nice to meet you and hear about how you found your forever home! Marley Rocks!
