Happy Thursday and Welcome.
First of all I want to thank all the posters, lurkers, pet owners and everyone else that has stopped in over the past 52 weeks.....I really look forward to Thursdays....Actually, it's because I know that Friday is the next day...:eek:
No drink of the day this week, it should be what you want, when you want it!!!!!
p.s. Just one thing.....Please let someone know if Mario soils the diaper......
Let the games begin!:eek: :cool: :D :)

The bar is completely stocked with beer, wine, liquor and all mixers, juice, softdrinks and of course catnip tea! In honor of the day I think I'll make myself a B-52 I risked the L&F to pull out the party hats and noise makers and Mario is setting things up on the buffet table. Let's have at it...

Hi, all. How is everybody doing? Me? I was sick last week, had bronchitis, and laryngitis. Still have them, LOL, my husband thought it was nice that I couldn't talk.
I think he has changed his mind, he is now making ME go to the doctor. I am sitting here trying to figure out a way to get out of going.
A beer sounds really, and make it a cold one.
So was Mario good? I can't believe he is actually doing something useful around here. How did you get him to set that table up for you Laurie?
I think he should have a beer for being so good!

I can't believe our little ol' Thursdays is a year old. This is the best virtual bar that I've ever had the honor of visiting (ok, so its the only virtual bar that I've ever had the honor of visiting).
Richard - the next round is on me - thanks for all your hard work in keeping this bar up and running. and thanks to all the Thursdays visitors this past year - its been much more fun than real life sometimes.;)

Well, I'm so happy I wandered in at this point. Make me something wonderful - don't care what!
No two fisted drinking for me this week - not with this darned cast. I can't type, brushing my teeth is difficult - nothing is easy anymore! I hate this stupid cast! OK I'm done whining!
I love Thursdays! Even if they do start on Wednesdays. Best day of the week. Get to come, meet a few friends and have a beverage. Makes the week worthwhile. And the sidewhow isn't bad either! You just never know what's going to happen.

I love this bar. I come and drink every week, and have never paid a cent. Oops, come see me if your books don't balance ;)
My car stopped going last night, so I came in with Shane at 6.30 this morning. There should be a law against working in the dark. A drink, please!

So Richard, let go of Mario for a minute and let me dance with him.
Oh, and all of the drinks are on me - have whatever you want.
I would like to request a double chocolate cake with chocolate fudge icing, please - skip the candles or we would burn the place down!
Oh, and Davidp said he might stop by - let's make him feel welcome - but no dancing for him - his knee isn't up to it.

Mario, sweetie, I'll dance with you - YOU might be nimble enough to escape without injury (unlike humans who, well, as I am a klutz, might regard it as hazardous duty!)!
After our dance, I'll treat you to a lemonade - your choice, pink or yellow!

Confusion is the order of the day :) Start at the start, or step in whenever you like. There are always drinks, a joke or two and a discussion about something weird and wonderful.
PS Mario is a monkey who hangs out and generally does strange things :)

Yes you read right it was snowing . We can get it through July and it can start again in Sept. I really need a green house to garden ( the only other thing besides whale watching I miss about the pacific northwest) .
Mario you tratior I'm late and you take up with the Mayor . Willie how are we going to teach him loyalty?

04-29-2004, 12:00 AM
Corinna, I just don't know how to teach him to be loyal! He's a guy. Maybe we could let Richard take him aside and talk to him about that kind of thing!
Sounds like you have snow most of the year! I was watching the weather tonight and see them talking about snow in your part of the country. It just seem funny hearing about snow at this time of year. We are have some warmer weather now, and a little bit of rain. We have started feeding the fish in our ponds. Seen some really nice catfish come up to eat.
I love this time of year best of all, the dogwood trees are in full bloom, and very beautiful.

Catfish I'll be over for a fish fry.! I miss that too I have ot go to the east side to catch them here. In Washington we lived on a lake it had the best catfish. It was nice and queit at night in the canoe fishing for them. The only time (at that point) I could get away from kids alone with hubby.
I said we can get we don't always some times it just feels like it . Hubby says we have 2 seasons winter and tourist. I ask if they are in season what is the bag limit.:D I'm sooooo bad. I guess i'd better put my self to bed. nighty night all see you tomorrow evening. so don't burn down the place.

Ok, ok, so you brought in chocolate chip, but it made me think of molasses - molasses cookies are my favorite. Which reminds me, what's or lunch everybody? I'm starving! I found a really yummy salad dressing, Ceasar....how in the world do you spell parmisian? I can't even come close so spell checker gives me the right spelling. :rolleyes: Anyway, this dressing is caesar parmi something or other with basil and boy is it good! So I can grill up a couple of chickens and we'll have grilled chicken salad - any takers? Or, we could put the grilled chicken in a wrap and have a grilled chicken wrap, or we could have grilled chicked quesadillas....I have to go to lunch...I'll be back. :rolleyes: ;)
I'll have another slushie Richard - what's in these things anyway, they sure are good!
I think I've posted this before, but I love it so here goes again....

Richard could I have one of those red slushy thingies? and one of the chocolate chip cookies before Mario gets an eye on them? He would knock over his own grandmother to get to a chocolate chip cookie!:D
Just remember
PARME - SAN
or Parmesan Cheese.
That recipe sounds so good.........I would love one any 'ol way you want to serve it.
Oh alright, so I had to go to the fridge and look at the container to see how you spell parmesan............now you know!:D

gosh, I can't believe I'm so late getting here on such a momentous occasion. We're actually going to have a weekend with nice July-like weather in the low 80's. (~29C).
So a cold slushie sounds good bartender.
I love all the links this week. We may not be a gay bar, but we are happy.:rolleyes:
Happy birthday Gini:D :D

Sorry I haven't been around for awhile. I have been pretty busy. I'd just like a nice cold Raspberry Ice Tea and a chicken ceasar salad. :)

So whoever is bartender today:

Yes, thanks Ms Gini. :) Richard's spelling got me the correct option through spell checker, but it still didn't look right, seems there should be more to it - oh well. I decided to add some spices to my chicken and put it on a bun (oh the horror of all those carbs!) so I had a spicy chicken samich instead of a salad, so there's lots of lettuce and chicken and p-a-r-m-e-s-a-n dressing for whoever wants. Thanks for lighting the grill, Richard. For some reason that is one skill that eludes me. :rolleyes:
Happy Birthday Robin!!!
And now that I know what's in those slushies, sure I'll have another!

Actually I think it was the foot massage I gave Mario earlier today. It seemed to put him in a trance (does for me ;) ) We'll have to remember that. Richard's Slushies gained a certain notoriety at Gini's BBQ bash last July and seem to get better with every batch. Oh what the hell, just let me set up another blender because now that my work day is just about over, I want a HUGE slushie - any color will do :D

OK, here's my joke... I hope it'll tickle your funny bone, yet not offend.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A cowboy walks into a bar and two steps in, he realizes it's a gay bar. "What the heck," he says to himself, I really want a drink."
When the gay waiter approaches, he says to the cowboy, "What's the name of your manhood?"
The cowboy says, "Look, I'm not into any of that. All I want is a drink."
The gay waiter says, "I'm sorry but I can't serve you until you tell me the name. Mine for instance is called Nike, for the slogan 'Just Do It.' That guy down at the end of the bar calls his Snickers, because 'It really satisfies.'"
The cowboy looks dumbfounded so the bartender tells him he will give him a second to think it over. So the cowboy asks the man sitting to his left, who is sipping on a beer, "Hey bud, what's the name of yours?"
The man looks back and says with a smile, "Timex."
The thirsty cowboy asks, "Why Timex?"
The fella proudly replies, "Cause it takes a lickin' and keeps
on tickin'!"
A little shaken, the cowboy turns to two fellas on his right,
who happen to be sharing a fruity Margarita and says, "So, what do you guys call yours?"
The first man turns to him and proudly exclaims, "Ford, because
Quality is Job One." Then he adds, "Have you driven a Ford lately?"
The guy next to him then says, "I call mine Chevy... Like a Rock!" and gives a wink.
Even more shaken, the Cowboy has to think for a moment before he comes up with a name for his manhood. Finally, he turns to the bartender and exclaims, "The name is 'Secret.' Now give me a beer."
The bartender begins to pour the cowboy a beer, but with a puzzled look asks, "Why Secret?"
The cowboy says, because it's STRONG ENOUGH FOR A MAN, BUT MADE FOR A WOMAN!
Hi David, Hi Jan. Gee it sure is nice to have some newcomers here. Don't want to get into details but work is not going well at all. We are just too short-staffed and working my butt off is making me miserable and that's being passed on to the staff. No good at all, I know that. Enough shop talk.
:eek: :eek: OMG you are right. Gini, get down from those rafters. You'll fall and break you neck. **sigh** what are you gonna do??? As my late Daddy used to say "What's the good of a birthday if you can't have any fun??" RIP Daddy.
David, since Richard is not around (a round....get it....not a square....groan) perhaps you could whizz up a pitcher of BM's?? It's so nice that you've joined us. :)
Jan, have I ever told you how much I admire you and your rescue work???
I think I'll drink a special toast to all rescuers. You will get your reward in heaven. First of all enough PUNishment!! Second of all BMs all around! Third of all, I LOVE my two rescue kitties!
It can be so taxing, and I often feel dumped on (being an out of pocket, and a bit too well known rescuer). Grimace.....so many cats, so little time, so little $$$, but Always a sucker for a stray in need. I'll drink to it all right now! *hic* Jan P.S. YES..Hicupping non-stop now...YIKES!:rolleyes:
Yup, Gini is still swinging.
I think I'll just go and put a blankie on Zippie. She's sleeping so soundly under the pool table. What a sweetie she is.
Thanks for the drink David. Now a feel better. I just gotta keep telling myself "14 years to retirement". **sigh**
I have some STRONG coffee going (something makes me think Gini may need some) and will start to sweep up the confetti and such. Last day of a wet rather gloomy April in the Mid-Atlantic, although today is lovely - so I think I'll sign off with a few words from Chaucer:
Whan that Aprill, with his shoures soote
The droghte of March hath perced to the roote
And bathed every veyne is swich licour
Of which vertu engendred is the flour :cool:
Hooray hooray the first of May
Outside &*^%ing starts that day!
uh no, that last part wasn't Chaucer ;)
I don't have a clue what you just said Laurie, but it sounds good.. Strong coffee coming up. I think we'd better leave Gini the way she is to sleep in. It took us awhile to get her down from the rafters last night. Boy, can that girl parteeee!!!!:D :D
Geeze o man what a mess in here this morning!!! :eek:
Must have been quite the party! I see Gini finally came down and curled up with Zippy under the pool table. I'm not so sure she's going to want to be woken up anytime soon.
So if Richard is not a round, which means he's square....so does that meant that Slick is calling Richard square? Oh, oh....;)
Laurie, I've heard the First of May rhyme too. The first time I said it to Terry he was like "What?!? What are you talking about?" Talk about not being a round. ;) :rolleyes: :D :D
Slick, hows about a double BM? Hopefully that'll start your day off on the right foot and the rest of it will go much better than the last few weeks have. Is it so hectic because everyone is still getting settle in from your big move?
Happy Friday everybody!! My last day of work until May 10th! Wooo hooo!
Gini, I don't think Excedrin is going to work on the sort of headache I think you're talking about. ;)
I've heard that a little "hair of the dog" works wonders though. How 'bout a slushie to ease that headache? :D
I kind of like Laurie's idea, but I think you should have a slushie in hand while the other one is on your forehead. :D
Boy Slick, I sure hope you're getting some decent overtime for all this.... great googly moogly :eek:
Gini, whether you feel like it or not you should get something in your stomach, even if it's just some toast or something. Can I fix you some cinnamon toast? It's just about coming out of the oven and smells reallllllly good. MARIO!! put those noise-makers away... that was yesterday :eek: Leave poor Gini alone for awhile.
O.K. - so what if I bought the dress and tried it on. The really big question is - is there some occasion in my future where I could wear it? Oh, I didn't accept a marriage proposal last night did I?
Oh Mario, did you propose to me?
Why are you all looking at me so funny?
Excedrin - orange juice - champagne...............oohhhhhh, I don't feel so good.
I have an idea - since this is a cyber bar - and the drinks aren't real - could I have a wedding - that isn't real?
and where is everyone? Am I up too late? It's only quarter till 12 midnight here! Thanks for responding Richard! Me and Jan were thrilled with the kitten bands- if you go ahead onto the website- it gets pretty gross and strange- Well, you might enjoy it (Madonna, etc.) Personally, I like the Paul McCartney song- no kittens included just dumb funny! Anyway, "Where's the Party" ? as the song goes... Did everyone poop out? Leave it to me to be last... I been sitting on my front porch watching my neighbors cats beat the oncoming traffic as they criss-cross. And stomping out the fire of dead leaves and branches they made in the little bit of woods we have between our house and the bar next door - everytime the wind picked up, flames came up (even thought they doused it with water at about 10pm tonight...go figure). And re: the bar next door- well that's a whole other thread for me!- but let's just say, my ex's car has been sitting there all evening. And if he has too much to drink, there's a chance he'll come over to make nicey-nice let's pretend blah blah blah. Yeah, Gini is awake and in good spirit - I have proof! :D
Richard, I'll let you know whether I like cesar salad the moment I taste it. ;( I'm sure I will! I'll eat anything apart from beetroot and a traditional danish dish called "Øllebrød" - you'll undestand once you see it. I tried to find a picture, but no wonder I couldn't! It's made from rye bread, water, sweet dark beer and lemon I think. Old people in hospitals are crazy about it and tend to pour cream on it. ..... I don't have a statistic whether they survive.
Slick, thanks for reminding me of a great song, it gives me the shivers - the Bar where I met John in the "old days" used to always play it before closing time. ;) It fits perfectly here, so I'll put a dime .... or whatever it takes, in the jukebox - please sing along very loud everybody! :D
"Stay" by Jackson Browne
People stay just a little bit longer
We want to play -- just a little bit longer
Now the promoter don't mind
And the union don't mind
If we take a little time
And we leave it all behind and sing
One more song--
..... what do we drink to that. :confused:
My poor garden out back has been demolished by one 75lb. four legged wrecking crew named Spencer. *sigh* it's veggies in containers this summer. Can't wait for the tomato plants.....and cukes. Tasting fresh summer sun warmed vegetables straight off the vine! Oh...and my favorite, sugar snap peas! I can plant them today....going out to plant...later! Have a beer on me Mario..one for you too Willie. :cool: :cool: :cool:
Thanks Jan. When those sugar snap peas come in, you are going to have to share. I love them raw, they are soooo good!
Where do you find the time to plant a garden anyway? Tomatoes, I love tomatoes, and canning tomato juice, yummy! I canned around 40 quarts of tomato juice one year. It is just the best.
i'm allergic to raw fruits and vegetables sometimes
I just had to drop by for a minute.....to say Hi and watch Laurie on her trampoline. Are the haz mat guys also paramedics?
I hope so!!
Yes, my eyes are focusing much better now and finally the excedrin did their trick. Would someone remind me next year that I am getting too old to be quite so stupid?
Although later I hear that my friends ganged up on me and made sure that I had a bottomless apple martini...........I wondered what happened!
It has to be that darn Slick and Laurie and yeah, you too Randi, sitting over there looking so innocent. And Willie...........you were up to some "monkey business" too weren't you? I thought that Mario was just a little too frisky.
Gotta go, my nine year old niece is with me today - and since she and her family are moving to Boston in a couple of months, each minute with her is precious to me. Of course, at nine she is glued to the Disney channel while I wait on her!!
How's the knee feeling?? Not too good! It's so stiff and sore that any way I move it, there's pain. I'm getting closer to knee replacement.
HEY where's the bartender? (I almost typed bratender) geesh....not even drinking yet! Dyslexic fingers I guess. :rolleyes: Doesn't sound like any fun getting a knee replaced David. But it sure beats being in chronic pain! BTW what are slushies? They sound good...:)
But I have every reason to look innocent, I'm really behaving today! ;) I was down feeding Pjevs again and do you know what I saw!!! :eek: That other cat, Ib, was out again, I had to guard Pjevs' foodbowl and reassure him nothing bad happened - he kept running back and forth to be cuddled and to eat his dinner. Oh, I love him!! :)
Still, all is now in good order, so lets sing it again ....
People stay just a little bit longer
We want to play -- just a little bit longer
Now the promoter don't mind
And the union don't mind
If we take a little time
And we leave it all behind and sing
One more song--
Slushies are GOOD, they almost make forget about my stupid knee!! lol;)
jan, you really should post a photo and story about Spencer Wrecker sometime! Why are you bothering to plant anything? Did you buy steel mesh fencing for the garden????!!! He'll eat THAT too! You didn't mention growing catnip this year? Is that a no-go?
PS - do you have Clinton St. kittens? I know I keep asking you and they are haunting me....
What a good (bad) boy!! For those who can't tell from the photo- Spencer has one blue eye and one brown eye! He was supposed to be a foster but ended up being a keeper! He's good to all the cats, turtles, (and the Iguana?- I dunno about that one!). Anyway, his poor mother was just reproducing repeatedly and now- right jan? It's stopped- right jan? Remind me- the mother is spayed now, right? The owners supposedly had no money to spay the mother dog....
