Be My Baby
A Unique Look Inside the Intense Competition of the Open Adoption Process

April 26 — In a unique television event, Barbara Walters documents a young birth mother's journey as she selects who, among five anxious couples vying for a child of their own, will become parents to her child.

Really cool idea!!

You get the the rose!
or
You are voted off the island,
the tribe has spoken!

I can already see the couples..

"we have been trying",
"It's put a strain on our relationship", "If we don't get this baby we are going to divorce" Watch the cliches fly and wait for the tearful loser interviews...

Why does it have to be 'hot out of the oven'? What is the matter with adopting a foster child?

And what about the 16 year old having the kid?
What a wonderful message to young women. Get pregnant and watch the attention come your way.

You know, we saw this advertised and couldn't believe it. This is taking "reality TV" waaaaayyy too far, and we just couldn't believe that someone of Barbara Walters' caliber was a part of this. I think reality TV is ridiculous to begin with, but this is pushing it just way too far.

In my opinion of course. ;) :p

And what about all the kids in the custody of the state waiting for adoption? Why not do a story on all the people waiting to adopt them? Oh, that's right, no one wants to adopt those kids......

Once again.... confirmation that this country has such messed up priorities.

I love the commercial they show here with a chick that looks like she's all of 16 talking about how drinking while you're pregnant can cause problems....... anyone else see problems with this??

Actually I saw Barbara Wa-Wa on "The View" this morning. I guess she caught alot of flack about the original advertisement for the program. When people heard the words "5 couples will compete for the adoption of a baby" or something to that effect, they were flooded with phone calls. People were appalled that they would come out with yet ANOTHER reality show, only this time playing on the couples inability to have children.

They have since changed the advertisement.

Not amused. People will exploit anything they can for publicity and money now.

I spent some time a few days ago looking through the kids available for adoption in CA, and it makes me so sad that people will wait for years on a wait list to get a baby when there are thousands of kids available for adoption who NEED homes NOW. There are a lot of toddlers and kids aged 5-9, and a few pre-teens and teens there, and it made me really sad. :(

People want to adopt babies and kittens, not adolescents or grown up cats. There are so many kids out there who are on the fast track to being criminals.
