This Darn dog of mine will NOT Stop peeing on the floor at night. I take him out to pee before bed and make sure he does and STILL PEES ON THE FLOOR. last night he pood as well. I am getting fed up. I don't know what to do. I took him to the vets a while ago and he had an infection but it went away (the infection) cuz his pee was clear and now it isn't.
WHAT DO I DO???

Take him back to the vet. And take him out a second time at night, he's your baby, so if you have to get up in the middle of the night to feed or change your baby, the same applies here.
I'm sure you'll figure something out, he's probably miserable having to go pee inside too.
Do you have a crate for him? If not perhaps you can try that, after he gets used to it, a dog won't want to eliminate that close to themselves unless there is something seriously wrong, perhaps kenneling at night will help.

I would take him back to the vet for another urine sample, sounds like he may still have an infection.
Also make sure you clean the area very very well with a product just for that purpose (natures miricle works great)

We use bleach to clean it. doesn't work

I would take him back to the vet first. And, what I did with my puppy was to set my alarm and take him out about two to four hours, depending. Is he only peeing once during the night? Maybe you could set your alarm to wake you up four hours into the night. See if that works. Crate training is a good idea. I've heard people use newspaper inside, or those pee pads, if you don't wanna crate. I don't think bleach actually gets the odor out, but, I could be wrong.

I'm just curious, how are you reacting when you find the mess in the morning?
I recommend crating after being certain that there are no infections. Dogs have instincts that tell them not to soil in their den. Their den being their crate in this case. Kai's first night in the crate, he soiled but from the second night on, he didn't.

Take him back to the vet.
Try crate training.
Install a doggie door.

I was yelling at him in the morning but i don't bother anymore. he doesn't respond. he just walks away.
I can't put a doggie door in cuz he will run away.. again.. (he's done it many times) we live on a farm and he like to walk away (even whe he is out for like 5 minutes he is gone)

Don't yell at him unless you actually catch you him in the act, they can't associate you yelling at them to something they did 2 minutes ago.
Also don't yell at him until you get his urine rechecked, it may not be his fault, he may still have an infection. Have you had it re-checked yet?
Also is he urinating in the same spots everytime or allover?
How old is he?
How long have you had him?
Is he neutered?
Monitoring him should help, like mentioned before take him out in the middle of the night, etc. As often as possible, especially if he still has an infection.
Does he give you any clues at all when he has to go or is it only when no one is home?

i have not been back to the vet yet, he pees in the same spot. every night same spot.
He is 3 years old next week, have had him since he was 8 weeks, yes he is neutered.
I take him out right before bed (usually 10pm) and take him out as soon as we get up (usually 4am)
I can't take him out at night because there is not enough time in the night to stay up for an hour or two to take him out.
he stays outside all day and when he IS in with us he doesn't go. only during the night

Why would you need an hour or two to take him out in the middle of the night? You could set your alarm and wake up two hours after you go to bed, and, see if he's peed yet. Take him out, five minutes max. Go back to sleep. Set your alarm and wake up two hours after that, see if he's peed. Just to see when he's going to the bathroom at night. If he's going about three or four hours after you go to bed, just set your alarm to catch him before he goes. And, what are your thoughts on crate training? You haven't acknowledged those suggestions. Or the pee pads?

If it's the same spot, you may want to try cleaning it again. If a dog smells the scent from the last time he peed there, he'll feel the need to do it again.. and again.. and again until you remove the odor. I don't know if bleach alone will do the job but I've heard that Nature's Miracle works great.

I would need and hour or two because i can not get up for 5 minutes and go right back to sleep. i am lucky if i can sleep an hour after i go to bed. (insomniac) but if i am still awake i do check on him once and a while.
How can i crate him when his "sister" goes free. isn't that mean?
wont pee pads encourage him to pee more?

I have one crate (no pillow), one plastic dog house (LOTS of blankets and pillows), one dog bed (blankets and pillows as well) and my bed in my room. Of all the things they can sleep on, the crate is their favorite. It's actually Kai's crate so he sleeps in there most of the time but the moment Kai gets out, Kaedyn rushes in and steals it. They prefer it over all their other options. If it were "mean", they wouldn't rush into it and try beating the other one in there would they? So to answer your question, no it's not mean.

no i mean isn't it mean putting him in a crate when she runs free and can do anything she wants?
I know crates are not mean. i know lots of dogs LOVE THEM! :)

I don't think it's mean. It's just during the night anyways so I'd imagine that she'd be sleeping most of the time anyways.

And, as far as pee pads go. I'm not really a fan of them myself. But, if you have no way of getting up to take him out in the night, and, he's peeing every night, wouldn't it just be better for him to be peeing on something like that then on the carpet? I'd only use them as a last resort, after trying the crate. But, if there's no other way to prevent him, I'd think it would be alright to use it. And, if he does pee more on the pee pad, after you've tried everything you can, I don't see how him peeing peeing three times on a pee pad instead of just once is going to be that major of a difference. it'd still be better than him peeing at all on the carpet.

Definitely a trip to the vet is in order. This is not normal, and not healthy.
Do, as was suggested, clean and deodorize that spot. Stick a piece of furniture there if you have to so he cannot get to that spot.
Are there any other changes - how long have you had his "sister"? Anything that might be stressing him out?

I would go back to the vet. Clean the area very very well with natures miricle or a similar product.
Also are you sure it is just him that urinating? If they are both free roam & only do it when you are asleep maybe they are both ding it? Maybe she smells his urine so she goes there, then he does the same, over & over again.
Also once you have gone back to the vet & you clean the area really well maybe to be on the safe side also place something in that spot, a piece of furniture or something.
Have you switched his food recently? What type fo food do you feed.

I know she wouldn't pee on the floor. i just know. she wont even pee near the house. the goes out in the AM and runs as far away from the house as possible.
He is peeing in the bathroom (but thank god there is no flooring down yet. it is just plain cement.
there is nothing new. Rikki (sister) is 13 and Falon is 3 so they have been together for 3 years. we always switch their food. he always has different stuff.
When i get money i will take hi m in to the vet.

Maybe he sees the cement as an ok place to go, because cement is also outside...I don't know, I'm groping! But, I know my friend's dog would pee on this green "grassy" welcome mat they had. It's a thought. I still think a crate would be a good idea. Could you get one big enough for both of them? I don't think it would be mean to have one in a crate and not the other, but, if you're concerned about that, could you put them together? And, with pee pads, once he's going on them, you could put them outdoors with you whenever you go outside to let them go to the bathroom. And, then, when he's consistently going on them, you could remove them to see if he'll hold it over night. Just a thought...

Jake had this spot on the carpet, on the stairs, where he would frequently urinate. He's completely housetrained, but one day he had an accident and after that he thought it was OK to use that spot. Somebody here suggested putting his food bowl on that spot for a while, so he would know it's a living area and not OK to pee there.
I did it, and it's been over a year since he peed there. It might be a coincidence but it can't hurt to give it a try. Can you feed your dog in a different spot for a few days?

i never thought about the food there, it coulkd work!
he has been good the last couple night because i take him out and when he pees he gets a "cookie" so i take him out at 7 and 8:30 (but he gets no water inbetween) and he usually pees twice.
so far so good.
i will see for a couple nights

Keep doing what your doing & good luck.
but the concret theory may be true. Also does anyone ever leave the door open when they potty, he may be watching the humans potty in there & think that is allright too.

the door is never shut to the bathroom, but i seriously do not think he is smart enought to put 2 and 2 together. (i'm not being mean. i am just stating the fact he is a moron...)
I'm still going to see about the vet wheni can get some money together.
thanks everyone

I just want to add that if you feed purina one or purina pro plan it MAY have something to do w/ urinary infections.
Long story but I used to feed it as well as many people I know & some I met along the way (talking to people in pet stores on the net etc...). For some odd reason a lot of dogs had urinary infections while on that food. It is not proven but quite weird that many many many dogs I have know & heard about had infections on & off while on that food then they all went away when their food was switched. Some dogs were on it for years & had uti's & the like ever since they were on it, some it was on & offf, some developed them later on. But everyone so far they have all stopped since they stopped feeding that food.
Not sure about now as I really have not discussed it in about a year but for about 6 years prior to that it was still happening!
My dog in particular Raustyk was on it for 3.5 years she had utis all the time, anal gland problems so bad the vets really wanted to remove them, ear infections & a weird rash on her belly. This lasted the entire 3.5 years wile on proplan . she had all sorts of meds some worked some didn't but everytime a med did work & she was done w/ the meds it would always come back and soon too. She was testd for allergies for her ear infections & rash & it came back as she was not allergic to anything. What is weird is that last year I ran out of dog food & could not get to the pet store so I picked up a bag of walmart max. nutrition (which has the same ingedients as proplan & purina one) and the uti came back in 5 days & her ears started to get infected & few red bumps popped back up on her tummy. I stopped that food right away & the symptoms were gone in a few days!! My other dog Nanook was also on it & he never had a problem.
Like I said it is not a proven fact & actually I found the ingredients to be semi decent (better than some foods for sure) but that is proof enough for me.

That sounds like a good start! Giving him a treat when he goes to the bathroom. And, putting his food where he was peeing sounds good, too! Or even just a water bowl. Or a bed or blanket he likes to sleep on. Anything that would make him think of that spot as a bad place to pee. Good luck! Keep us posted.
