Ok...Im living with three maine coon mixes and have noticed that they are rather...um interesting cats. Most cats Ive encountered dont follow you around constantly and try to push themselves under your hand to get attention. These cats do. it IS incredibly cute and adorable. I thought this was odd but cool at the same time. Any of your kitties do this? Tell me about it!

Yes, I have 4 male cats and they are my shadows with fur.:) Storm is a Maine Coon mix, Sunny is an Aby mix, Sky is a Ragdoll mix, and Cirrus is a Bengal mix. They're all mama's boys and love to hang out with their meowmie. Most of the time they're in the same room that I'm in and if not it's because they're sleeping.:)

LOL ... yes my Maine Coon (main goon?) , Mishi, is "interesting" :D He's my insane, cute, cuckoo kitty who has his own way of showing affection - usually running bonkers around the apartment, occasionally running into me. I love the big Goon. Mitzi is a bit more aloof, but when she wants to show affection, she'll crawl into my lap and start kneading or put one of her big white mitts on my arm and meow the cutest little squeaky meow letting me know that she loves me.

I wouldn't say Don Juan is a shadow with fur. He's more of a permanent "laptop." Indeed, if I try to put my LAPTOP on my lap, he will squeeze himself between the computer and me, until he has shoved the interloper off "his spot." :D

Oh yes,:) Sash is definitley an affecionate little guy. He's always, with us myself, boyfriend and Sash can always be found in the same room together everynight. Then when it's bed time, Sash is right cradled in my arm. Very close me and my boy are. Lisa & Sash

Lamoni INSISTS on being petted wile he eats his dry food at the bowl. He also loves getting a back rub and enjoys when I come by him and put down a hand. He rubs my hand with his head.

Fifi follows meowmie around EVERYWHERE. Now she likes having Fifi around, but what do you do with a cat that demands setting in you lap when you are on the pot?

We have a pet door between the house and garage and you have to go out into the garage to go down into the basement. When Cindy (meowmie) goes down stairs Fifi will set by the pet door and bellow until Cindy either comes back up or somebody (me) lets Fifi out. I said bellow, not meow. Well it starts as meow but goes lower and louder each time. She gets down near middle C. Same thing if Cindy is in the bathtub with the door shut. Fifi will set in the hall and start in!

If I let Fifi into my lap whilst at the computer (and I never deny her) she will reach for my hands if I don't pet her.

My little Siberian probably shares some of your Maine Coon caracter. She is definitely very affectionate... but... with a pinch of self respect, which I haven't seen in any of my other cats (not siberians). She will make her demands of attention on her own terms... whenever and however she wants. She faithfully follows me around the house, just to make sure she doesn't miss something important, like the weekly litter cleaning... hence that she actually inspects it to see if I really did a good job. :D
Generally, I think Maines and Siberians share a bit of that dog-like caracter. They are loyal, joyful companions, yet, they have a certain independence and dignity. They are also a a tiny bit possesive, as many cats are, which might explain why they all fight for your attention.

I miss our male burmese cat as he demanded affection daily. He would hunt me down and come to me yelling and demand I pick him up and cuddle him and he was such a snuggler and purr when I did. I loved that alot.
Our new male burmese isn't like that and besides he's my mom's cat. He does follow me a bit but only when my mom isn't there. I pat him and talk to him but its not the same as our old male burmese.

:D :D :D My cats are very affectionate!!All 4 of the cats and I pile on to my bed and snuggle while we watch t.v. They always sleep with me at night. It is especially nice in the winter because they are like little heated pillows!!:D :D :

:) Hi. My 2 cats do that all of the time. It's normal for those kind of cats. I have a Maine coon cat and a tortice shell cat. They are always under my feet. They trip me, push their heads up againsed me, and meow constantly for attention.:)

My little siberian is quite affectionate but in a quiet sort of way. She does get very emotional when I bring her favorite food and does a lot of "happy dance" around my feet on the way. She doesn't meow much, only when strickly necessary. She usually does so when she wants me to play "tag" with her. I think the most affectionate thing she does is to lick my finger and to actually manicure them whenever she finds a little bit of skin or nail that shouldn't be there. :D

It would not let me vote for all of the above.

While I was reading about your poll, my little Maine Coon mix was demanding kisses! This little darling follows me around so much she answers to the name of Puppy.

Lexie by far is the most affectionate, she loves to follow me around, and is my little companion, she also likes time alone, just like me, Ash can be when it suits him, and suprise suprise he has just become a lap cat after five years.

Hello:

We have had eight cats in our house. Some have died or had terminal illnesses and had to go.

Yes, I have had cats push their head under my hand and they usually want to be petted.

I have had Siamese. In the past, we had a blue pt. and a seal pt. Now we have another blue pt. living. The Siamese are great with kids. More tolerant than domestics.

Our newest is a stray and he is gorgeous. And he is very sweet and follows me or walks beside me, walks across the keyboard and jumps in my lap.

Bye for now and hope to hear from you

It's funny. I have 4 cats and they are all four of the choices in the poll. Trinity is my shadow with fur - I swear she's a dog that looks like a cat. Mila wants affection sometimes - she'll climb on me whenever and wherever she wants and then walk off when she's done. NokBin is tricky. She'll run all over my freshly folded laundry because she knows it makes mommy frustrated. KutingStrings is stuck up because she knows she's just gorgeous.

When my husband first brought a kitty home, I just hated her because she's so dark fur. I grew to love her so much and this incident supprised me.
During the weekend, I went to my cousin wedding for 4 days and I left my kitty with my husband. When I called home to check on them, I asked my husband to put me on speaker phone. When she heard me call her name she came to the phone and reply ("meow meow" of course), beside that she also licked the phone and rubbing it.
My husband said after the following days, she came to the phone and meowing searching for my voice and why i'm not home.
When I came home, she heard my key as I open the door and there she was, meowing, licking, running around my feet. I just love her so much.
:) :o :D ;) :p

I am remembering the first day I brought Missy home -- she was 3 months old. I showed her her food, and her water and her litter box, and then I needed to lie down, as I was suffering from a chronic pain condition at the time. So I left her to explore the apt. while I watched from the sofa. She sniffed around the dining room and living room and everything seemed to meet with her approval. And then she spied me lying down, and immediately she leapt up on me and stretched out on top of me looking down into my face with such a look of love. She nestled her face close to my ear and started to purr loudly as if to say "I'm home, mom"! It had taken no time at all for us to bond. It was immediate.
From that moment on, every time she saw me sitting or lying, she took it as an open invitation to stretch herself out on top of me. Some nights she would be forced to move several times while I changed position, but she would climb right back up, or else nestle in beside me so that I could feel her warmth through the blankets. She loved being close to me and was very possessive -- absolutely hated it when I was on the computer or the phone, and would do anything she could think of to distract me, including stretching out on the keyboard, or sitting between me and the screen. Trying to read a newspaper was a challenge with a 12 lb. cat lying on top of it. And while I would be busy doing my Christmas baking, she would perch herself up on the top of the folding kitchen door and peer down at me meowing until I acknowledged her. Anything to distract me and remind me that I belonged to her, and I needed to pay her more attention. She loved for me to hold her like a baby on her back with her body stretched right out full length -- a yard long -- she was a very long cat. She would lie like that in my arms for the longest time, totally content. She had the cutest little habit of looking at me and then bowing her head down and looking at me sideways until she turned herself over and plopped on her back. It was a playful little gesture, which she used to ask forgiveness if she had been naughty, or to just invite play or a tickle to her tummy. And it is one of the most endearing things I remember about her.

It makes me so angry that cats have such a bad reputation!! -- for being aloof, tempermental, and agressive.

My cat, Leon, is the most loving, lap-friendly, gregarious little kitty -- he loves to be cradled in my arms and he loves to have his stomach pet. He is the exact opposite of how cats are "supposed" to be . . .

Maybe I shouldn't use "catty" so often to describe the divas in my life !?!? ;)

Glad to see that so many cats out there are as affectionate as mine!

I have 4 cats and only one of them is aloof and even she will come up and jump in your lap at least 5 times a night.

They follow me into the bathroom, kitchen, laundry room and one of them even insists on sitting on the edge of my tub when i take a bath! 2 won't let me out of their site and I often get out of the shower and step on a couple cats before i can reach the bathmat.

I wake up in the morning with a cat under each arm, one under my legs and one either on my head or on my stomache.

Cat hair has become a part of my diet- as i can't eat dinner without a cat jumping on the table.

I have an audience when I pee, a broadway musical would have less attention than i get during those times...LOL

Oh- and there are other inconvenient moments when one would prefer not to have company... Anyway...

Yes- I have 4 furry shadows.

Hello:

Presently I own a domestic female and a Siamese male. The domestic when we got her was always in my lap. She likes to lay down on top of the keyboard when I'm on my computer.

I had a another domestic, which sadly had to be put to sleep.

During his first six months with us, he used to lick me on the face every day. I have also had cats double park on my lap. I thought only dogs licked you, but I was in for a surprise.

Have a nice day.

I must admit I have shadows. I have one who loves kissing. I have one who pats my face while looking in my eyes. I have many who want lap time. Some move room to room with me. Right now there are 7 asleep will I am at the computer and one is in my lap napping. I have kitchen cats, bathroom cats, TV cats, computer cats. Cats how watch to make sure I am using the sewing machine right or wash dishes right. As for cleaning out the litter boxes that duty is always passed to the youngest cat in the house. But one is always there to make sure I do it right. I have cats that sleep beside me, on me, near, or at the foot of the bed. Specail ones who voleenter to test all of my food for poision. Test the water in my glass. Decorate my clothes for work with fur. I know without them I would not be able to make it on my own because they have to test and try out everything. Plus, my heart would break and stop without the love they give.
What an empty life and home I would have.

Stella

What was the question are they affectionate??? YOU BET THEY ARE!!!!!
