After Ricky was neutered, he started gaining weight. We have taken away all treats, minimized his food (we use a weight reduction dog food product) intake a great deal and he is still heavy and miserable as he thinks we are punishing him.
Any advice. Ricky now weighs 8lbs.

Food reduction alone ill not really help too much with weight loss, he needs to be excersized more.
Take him for a couple walks a day.
They now make diet treats so he could still get a treat once in a while. Or if her likes carrots you can give him them as treats. Is he on a good quality weight loss dog food?
How old is he? What breed?

Ricky is a 4 year long haired chihuahua and he gets short walks 3 times a day and one long one. He won't eat carrots or as someone at the Vets suggested green beans. His little sister Desi Lu who is too thin loves carrots and green beans and the diet dog food so I have to keep them separate.
Figures.

How long has he been on his weight reduction diet? Given time, he'll shed those pounds...or in Ricky's case, maybe ounces;) Hope the little guy's doing well!:) Stick to it and continue the walks. The weight will come off:) Hugs to Ricky and Desi Lu!
