Has anyone heard or seen this new toy called Dress Up Jesus? It's totally disgusting to me. Regardless of what you believe, this is just disturbing.
If it were an image of Martin Luther King, Jr. lying on the floor in a pool of blood and dressed in underwear with the option of putting all different kinds of clothes on him, I'd be offended.
If it were JFK sitting in the car with half his head blown off and having the option to dress him up, I'd be offended.
If it were Buddha or Confucious or the Great Spirit or Mohammed, I'd still be offended. It takes all dignity away from that person (or Spirit, as it were) both in their life and in their death.
There's a devil costume, a t shirt with a skull, a tutu and more. :(

There's also an interactive website:http://www.jesusdressup.com/

That is foul. I've seen the dress up statue of David, though, and, thought it was funny. I get the premise of it, sortof. And, I personally know several decent, intelligent people who not only wouldn't be offended by the dress up Jesus doll, but, that would probably buy it. More as a gag gift, but, regardless. I don't know. It's offensive to me, and, I'm not religious in the slightest, but, to each his own. :(

I've heard of the "pope on a rope". (it's a soap figure), but
this is really stupid & bound to offend a lot of people. But to
quote the MSNBC article, "In an e-mail response to Gerry, the company said it doesn't sell the dress-up Jesus to provoke or offend people, but rather sells it to reflect a diversity of opinion among its customer base "
Right, any lame brained idea is protected by freedom of speech.
 I personaly thing it's a really lame idea.

I think its incredibly wrong, to make something as worthless as a *doll* representing someone as pious and great as Jesus. :(:(:( I find it very disrespectful.

I honestly don't know what kid would want to buy that.
I find it disturbing, also.

It isn't necessarily aimed towards kids, as far as I know. I've seen those kinds of things in spencers, and, I know several adults that have similar magnets.
I find that disgusting and disturbing. Like Julie siad, I don't see what kid would want to buy that.

I really don't think they sell the magnets at kid's stores. I know for sure that Urban Outfitters is a young adult clothing store. I don't think it's a product marketed towards children. I'm thinking more young adult and up.

Not a problem for me, but then I'm not a religious person. *shrug*
And I can definately see this as more of 'adult' merchandise.

If it was just a regular Jesus I'd have no problem with it. Actually I'd find it kind of funny. But the fact that he's on the cross is kind of disturbing... but then again I always was kind of creeped out at the fact that people have crosses with crucifixed Jesus on them like in their house and stuff too. But then again I'm not religious at all... :o

I don't find it that disturbing or offensive but then again I am not religious. I could see how this might be rude to some people since it kinda makes fun at jesus and he being killed. But I think if you look at what the church has done to people for not believein in jesus, etc Its far worse then a funny gimic.

I find it sad that someone is going to make millions on a person's demise. It's sick.

Same here, but, it's still disrespectful.

Yep, it is disrespectful. But that seems to be everywhere.

It is disrepectful, and it is everywhere. People should have more respect for what other people believe, who they want to love, who they want to marry! It is just wrong.

Okie, I guess I'm the only person who is amused by this, but hey...It's not hurting anyone by existing! Not the type of thing I would buy, but amusing.

Now, see. Richard, I find that cute. I don't find it disrespectful, though others may. But to hang him on across and put a Dr. Suess hat on him? That's bad.
Like I said, I would be equally offended if it as JFK with his head blown off dressed in a Dr. Suess hat.
I guess to me, it's just plain tacky.

I agree with that - I think that this toy is in very poor taste and would offend many people, even those who aren't rabidly religious (like me)

I understand you point of view!
About the hat, you mean a "Cat in the Hat" hat...I think Dr Seuss would never be caught wearing a hat like that....;)
