View Full Version : My niece's pit bull is very ill
I am usually not in the dog forum because Rascal, Annie and Emma won't allow it.
But I wanted to ask you all to say a prayer for my niece's pit bull, Bella.
My niece lives in Northern Calif. and when she went to the Humane Society to adopt, she spotted Bella, an eight week old pit bull mix. It was love at first sight. My niece was the eighth person to apply for adoption. Happily they were very particular about who was going to get Bella. The prior seven applicants had questionable intentions and were turned down.
Bella has proven to me what amazing and loving animals pits can be. I fell in love with her too and played so much tug the rope with her that my arms ached for days.
Bella is now three years old and has just had her third tumor removed. It is stage 3 cancer. My niece is going to an oncologist this week with Bella to have a full evaluation.
Please, keep Bella and my niece in your thoughts and prayers.
This dog is so loved, if anything happens, my niece will be so distraught.
Thanks to all of you dog lovers......................

Oh Gini:(:(:( Poor Bella. She's just a youngster:( Your niece must be beside herself. Finally a deserving Pitty finds the perfect home and then, this. But don't give up yet. I will be hoping for the best and will say a very special prayer for Bella. Hopefully the oncologist will have more encouraging news. If you see Bella, please, give her a hug. And please tell your niece we're all pulling for her. Please keep us updated. Love, Sandra

Positive thoughts on the way. Bella is still needed here, so I hope the oncologist and Pet Talk prayers can give her a lot more time on this earth.
The update on "Bella" - my niece's pit, is that she had her first chemotherapy last Friday.
She has two tumors, the size of apples that are inoperable.
She will have her blood tested in a week.
The oncologist said she has never seen such an aggressive cancer in a dog so young (3).
You can imagine how upset my niece is over this - all we can do is pray.
Thanks to all of you for your kind thoughts and prayers.

Gini, don't lose hope. I know of a Golden Retriever years ago that developed cancer (I think it was a lump on his leg). The vet didn't hold out much hope but after all the chemotherapy treatments he pulled through like you wouldn't believe. I saw him a year after the treatment and he was completely in remission.
Bella, you and your niece are in my prayers.

How's Bella doing, Gini? Hoping for a little good news. Update us when you can:)
Sandra, thanks for asking about Bella, and thanks to everyone for your prayers.
The update on Bella is that her blood tests were good. They didn't show any deterioration of white cells.
The bad part is that Bella has two tumors hanging from her side that are the size of apples - and cannot be removed.
Her next treatment is April 9th.
My niece is realistic about Bella's condition which is so sad. But she wants to do everything that she can to help her.

Oh, Gini, I am glad her white cell count is better, but so sad about those two tumors that they can't operate on!!! :( Bella is still in my prayers.

Thanks for the update Gini. I'm glad to hear about the imorved cell count. But as Logan has said, sad to hear about the inoperable tumors. Your niece is an angel Gini; such devotion. What a very special pair she and Bella make. I'll thinking of them both and still hoping for a miracle for dear Bella. I wish her all best on her April 9th appt. Love , Sandra
It is with great sadness that I share with you that my niece's pit bull, Bella, lost her fight today.
It is exactly six months since the first tumor was discovered.
The oncologist said that she had never seen a case like this one, in so young a dog.
Over the three years of Bella's life she had several unexplained infections and antibiotics seemed to cure her - but they reoccured.
The oncologist thinks that perhaps Bella was born with cancer.
Rest in peace, sweet Bella, free of any pain and discomfort.
You made a young couple extremely happy in your very short three years. You will always be dearly loved.
