Max - again

Took him see the dermatologist at the Veterinary Hospital in Ames yesterday. The head of the department wasn't supposed to be in, but Max needed to be seen so we went ahead and went in to see another doctor. Walked in the room and surprise - he was there. He remembered Max (from 1999) and made a point to be there. Did some scrapings and found that Max has a really bad case of staph infection. He prescribed $74 worth of antibiotics and a $16 bottle of new medicated shampoo. We have to give him antibiotics for a month and bathe him every week.

But, Dr. Noxon does want us to come back after this and have Max retested. He's just as puzzled as we are about this allergy problem. Really wants to get to the bottom of it. YEAH!!

Poor Max, he was so tired after all that - he slept on his dad's lap all the way home - UPSIDE down! I wish I'd had a camera - it was priceless.

Good luck getting ot the bottom of Max's allergies. We are still struggling with Cincy too. She is on allergy food, but stillhas to be on anitbiotics to control her skin issues. We have tried to suggest something other than allergies (like immune), but the vet doesn't think that is the case. So we pursue this for awhile and hope it gets better!!!

Poor Max. :( I do hope that the medication and the shampoo will give him some relief! I'm so glad you got to see the doctor you wanted too, Robin!
