Hi Kiddies!

It's been a real trying week...

Tears have been shed, prayers have been said,
patience is tried and brains have been fried.
some news is good, some is bad,
time to get happy, no time for sad.
Let take some time to forget all our fears
let's share some laughter and let's drink some beers!
------------------------------

Something fun for this thursday!!

Koala Bear

1 oz. Creme de Banana, 1 oz. Dark Creme de Cacao, 1-2 scoops Vanilla ice cream

Blend with ice, Garnish with Whipped cream & Sprinkle nutmeg

I was trying to open up the bar at the same time as you! But life would be way too confusing with two Thursday threads so I defer to yours. :)

I was going to recommend a Coffee Nudge, but your Koala Bear sounds just as good.

I Corrina - that cheesecake is wonderful!

Mario, you are one handsome monkey!

Now that I'm taking over parts of two other people's jobs, I'm much busier than before - I just have to keep my sanity in all this - good thing I can sneak into Thursdays to unwind.

Yes, another sad week for PT. Rest in peace, Butterscotch and Hoodoo, and safe trip to the Bridge for Bob :(

I'm not a cream in my drink kinda gal, so an appletini might fill the gap :)

Catland, why is it that restructures always involve downsizing, instead of expanding? ;) :)

Hey gang:
It's not only been one H of a week here but at my work as well. Thanks for opening the bar Richard. I'm parched so I think I'll start off with one of them-there ice-cold Nikked beers.

To the folks who've lost their pets to the angels, there but for you go I. Let's all try to slap smiles on our faces and talk about the good times.

Richard: I haven't been called a kiddie since I was a kiddie. What the heck, I'm still a kiddie, for now that is.:D

That Koala bear sounds great!

In addition to the losses here on PT, I'd like to toast to Katie, a 9 yr old golden retriever in our therapy dog group. She was PTS on Monday, after a battle with cancer, and to one of the local dogs in Findlay, who is a regular at the dog park, who was hit by and car and killed. :(

First of all I need one of those DOTD's please.

Thanks.

Here's to all the sweet critters out there this week that have found their way to the RB. They are all romping and playing freely now - no pain, no suffering, no sadness, just lots of purrs, head bumpies, tail wags and slurpy kisses (from the doggies).

Seeing as how Bob is a Tubby look alike - except for the tail - his story hit me hard this week too. Poor guy. To have to so much love to give....:(

Mmmm....this DOTD is yummy! I'm craving sugar these days since I gave up Coke and I'm trying to "watch my carbs." So seeing as I can have anything I want at Dick's Place, bring on the coke and the more sugary the drinks the better!!! :D

Morning all, DOTD for me as well please. Re-org at my job too. I'll be moving to "the other side" of the building that is... tomorrow. Same department but not working for BOSS LADY which is the good news I guess. I believe it's called a Lateral Move. Oh well. I need some comfort food today. It's early so how about if I start up some bacon (Slick, toss me some of your Canadian bacon please) and maybe some French toast, haven't had that for awhile. Just to freak some of you Northerners out I'm going to fix up some scrapple too :D hahaha... that should be interesting. Ever seen a recipe about how to make homemade scrapple? * don't even go there Laurie, you'll gross these fine folks out * oops, here comes the boss. Later

Scrabble???? I love the game of scrabble........:D :D

Oh, you said scrapple........I used to get into scrapples at school :D with someone with no scruples.....

Watch out below.......**throws Canadian Bacon**

Going to be another busy day for me. In the wake of the office move there's alot of grumbling about "your space is bigger than my space...." That's one time I can throw up my hands and say "that's not my department!"

I think I'll start off with a Spanish Coffee and I'll be adventurous and try some scrapple, whatever the heck it is.

Downsizing, outsourcing, whatever! Things are hard when you don't have a job too:( Seems to have been a sad week for a lot of us out here.(Although lack of job is not new)

My condolences to all who have had losses this week. There have been tears shed in North Carolina after reading your stories.

I'll have a DOTD please.

Hope next week is better

Hello to everybody, or should I say good morning?

I am tired this morning, I woke up with a big lump at my back. Of course it was easy to remove, so I just removed it myself. No doctor needed. Just move over a little and Grover isn't a lump anymore. ;)

I'll have the DOTD, and go ahead and give Mario the same. He really loves that drink! This is the look he had after that drink yesterday!

Happy Thursday to you all! :) It has been a sad week at PT, for sure. Let's drink to the memory of those that left us this week!

Richard, I'm just drinking ice tea with lemon for now. But I may want something else a bit later!! ;)
And by the way, I may live in the South, where "sweet" tea is the thing, I prefer mine unsweetened!!!

Tubby & Peanut's Mom
03-04-2004, 11:12 AM
Gee, Willie, glad to hear your lump was so easily removed. I tend to get one of those too, but it's always on my legs. Sometimes I just spread my legs apart a little and the lump falls right down. Let me tell ya, if you're going to have a lump, that's the kind of lump to have! :D

Catland, maybe we should get together because I've got 4 e's, an a and an i.....and you guessed it, the q! So you make h-u-n-k and I'll try and come up with something to get rid of this sucker! ;) :D

I'm not really sure, but scrapple is one of those things that is really yummy...until you find out what's in it - right? I'll try a little and I'll have a Spanish Coffee - and can you please remind me what's in a Spanish Coffee?

Boss is on his way in, so it'll probably be "one of those days" for me, but I won't complain because there's no downsizing, re-orging or anything like that going on here. Just plain ol' boring work.

I want to stop here at Thursdays and offer a minute of silence in honor of all of our very special pets that have crossed to the Rainbow Bridge recently.

I want to think of them all as happy, pain free, romping around, tails held high and meeting our other pets that have gone before them.

My heart goes out to all who have lost a beloved pet.

I walk in the door of Thursdays and you guys are eating SCRAPPLE! Washing it down with Kahlua? What ever has gotten into you?

It's that Laurie - and Slick's probably in on it too.

Richard, put a stop to this!

I think I will just plop down here on one of these comfy chairs
and invite Mario over for some loving.

MARIO - QUIT THROWING THE SCRAPPLE ALL OVER THE BAR!

Oh, Lord, it is going to be ONE OF THOSE THURSDAYS isn't it?

Miss Meow ordered appletinis - are there any left? I will join her.
Yeah, I know it is early, but this is THURSDAYS and you can drink anything you want - anytime of the day.

I need to parteeee!

Since Slick is busy today, I can sneak this in here.

Has anyone noticed Slick actually submitted her picture to Kirsten's website? Click here (www.pettalkers.de.vu ) to get to the website then scroll down until you see Slick. And it's actually a very nice picture, not where she's hiding behind a Halloween costume or anything like that. ;)

So we finally get a pic of Slick. I think that deserves a toast! :D

Betty Crocker showed up one day in her 50's poodle skirt and attitude and I had to ask her to leave. Heard she had lunch with Mrs. Fields and there was a scene at the restaurant.

I took a quick glance at that WD-40 web site and it's amazing! Why you can "keep missile silo doors swinging freely" You can also "spray on Twister game for more fun". And this next one is for Mario... It "frees stuck hands from narrow bars". Not that there's anything narrow about Dicks Place but Mario does have a way of getting his little hands stuck in the most unlikely places ;)

Etymology: diminutive of scrap

Catland... e-i-e-i-o. Scrapple comes in a brick shape and is sliced and fried. I dust a little bit of flour over it so it's a bit crispy on the outside but still a wee bit soft on the inside. The trick is to slice it juuuuuust the right width. It's a pork product rather like sausage but not as spicy as some sausage. Don't confuse it with nasty stuff like "Treat" or "Spam" that are mostly pork "by-products" like pig lips and eyelids. ewwww, I'm grossing mySELF out talking about that yechy stuff. Scrapple is DELISH!

I'm about to hit the road and the daily commute....and it's raining - ugh! So since this is all cyber anyway, Richard, I'll have a DOTD for the road, please. :D

A jug of whatever's going, please!

Buffy and Schnaggles are at the vet today for their neutering. I know it's for the best, but I feel so bad :(

Got home to the computer and found a Worm Bagel J virus thingy happily destroying the computer. Got rid of it, but if this internet connection crashes once more, I swear this computer is going to end up in the nearest river

OK, I see STUD going across the top to the right and I can use my BLANK as an "M". T&P's mom has the two f's and an "N". Can we borrow the I from STINK? These are Calvin Rules right? Anything goes at Dick's Place :D We wouldn't even have STINK if Richard didn't marinate himself in WD-40  (only I thought that had to do with his pool game) I'm confuzzed about the rules here

Hello, people.

I need an apricot brandy, neat. I have a cold, first in several years, (cough! cough!)

As fate would have it, Scrabble is the only board game I play, and I work as a mechanic and use WD-40 every day. I even know all the words to "Jimmy Crack Corn." This is another Thursday I can relate to, hah!

First off, you can't play "muffin" on the i in stink, it makes "fque" going down, so let's put it on the u in stud. OK?

I've always suspected that they put vanilla in WD-40; it smells much better than any other penetrating oil, and I've used them all!

"They laid him 'neath a 'simmon tree. His epitaph is there to see. Beneath This Stone I'm Forced To Lie. Victim Of The Blue-tailed Fly."

Thanks, Richard. That brandy slid down easy! Another?

As for the philosophical meaning of "Jimmy Crack Corn", I think it's up there with David Allen Coe's perfect country song "You Never Even Call Me By My Name" and "Margaritaville."

My son Carl (when he was 3 or 4 years old) would laugh uncontollably every time I got to the "I don't care" part. He loved "Old Dan Tucker" too, as I recall.

I learned to play guitar with a Pete Seeger book of folk songs.

While we're at it, do you remember the NYPD Blue show where Sippoweitz kept asking everyone what "pop goes the weasel" meant?

I recall something about "macaronies" being young English playboys. Must be a reference to that???

I can only sing Rod Stewart songs when my voice is like this. Maybe Louis Armstrong...

" you lookin' good...swayin'...while the band's playin'...one a them old familiar songs from way back when..." (voice cracks)

So, I should be on the stage...there's one leaving in an hour?

Or...you should be on the radio...so we can change stations?

I always liked "can you sing Far, Far Away?"

I'll do one more, anyway..Thank you...Thank you very much.

"Scotch and soda, mud in your eye...baby, do I feel high...oh, me...oh, my...do I feel high.

"Dry martini...jigger of gin...oh, what a spell you got me in. Oh, my...do I feel high."

All I remember about ol' Dan Tucker was that he combed his hair with a wagon wheel and died with a toothache in his heal. My late husband used to know all the words but occasionally would add his own "dirty" verses :o I also remember that the reason nobody cared about whether Jimmy cracked corn was because his master had gone away.... amazing what the mind collects and yet I can't always remember to take out the trash on trash days  Moving day at the office for me so I'll be drinking and driving my stuff to "the other side" most of the day. Set 'em up Mr/Ms bartender. WOWZERS, that tall white Russian sounds perfect!

(still singing "Scotch and Soda")

"People won't believe me...they'll think that I'm just braggin'...but I could feel...the way I do...and still be on the wagon.

"All I need is...one of your smiles...sunshine of your eye...oh, me...oh, my...do I feel...higher than a kite can fly...give me lovin'...baby, I feel high."

Willie, I just noticed you on my lap. Are you part Cheshire cat?

Morning to you. It looks nasty over here on the east coast, as well. Yep, I watched Survivor. Wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be, though. Sue just lost it. Also, they were supposed to be on the early show on CBS. Wish I could have seen that!

sorry, didn't watch Survivor - I'm currently working through my season-5 DVD's of Stargate-SG1.

and just who is in the kitchen with Dinah - and why are they strumming on their banjo?

coffee and kahlua sound good - its raining here too. But the crocuses are blooming and so are some of the early daffodils so spring is on the way:)

Yeah! It's spring here too! I noticed a few green things sprouting up too. Terry says "what are they?" I say "I have no idea. Don't you remember what we planted last fall?" :D

Then as I was leaving this morning, I noticed that some of the neighbor's daffodils are about ready to pop open!!! I was happy with little green stubs and they have flowers about to bloom! How do they do that?

Anyway, I'll have a DOTD. I've really been feeling crappy lately (sinuses - ugh) so I think I'm going to need the sugar buzz to get me through the day.

Good morning everyone - it's Friday and that makes me happy.

You all are talking about spring and new growth. I have a large old maple tree in my backyard. It has some problems that I have been paying a fortune to have treated. Yesterday I saw tiny new shoots and leaves on the branches. I had been holding my breath because I had it cut back and treated in January.

When I saw the tiny new leaves I wanted to cry. I love this tree and gave it a big hug (can't get my arms around the trunk). If anyone had seen me they would have thought I was a tad daft - but the tree knows how I feel.

Too early for apple tinies - but coffee with Bailey's sounds pretty good right now.

Gini I remember that tree very well and I don't blame you a bit! The tree that came down in my front yard during Hurricane Is-a-bitch was a huge old male oak that was six ft in circumference easily. I cried when that tree fell. The female oak in the back yard (would that make it his wife  ) is even bigger and I pat it and hug it and talk to it all the time. No sign of my tulips or daffs yet but it's supposed to get up to 75 today. YIPEEEE. Today's the last day I work directly for boss lady YIPEEEEEEEE. It's Friday and payday YIPEEEEEEEE Drinks are on me!

Speaking of Spring and trees and the weather has inspired me to notice the letters in my Scrabble hand- "tornado." We had some of those in the area on Thursday, and I even got to come home from work early.

Have any of you ever seen the black clouds that have "cow's udders" underneath? Scary stuff!!

Anyway, we have "hunk" on the starter space in the middle, going left to right, "que" on the u, "stink" down to the k, "stud" off the s, and "muffin" on the u in "stud" (stud muffin?), going up and down, so I will put "tornado" to the bottom right side of "muffin", tying the t to the i ("it"), and the o to the n ("no"), and I played all seven tiles!!!

That's a big score (50 extra points) in real Scrabble, guess in cyber-scrabble you earn an extra drink, hah!

Spring is my favorite season, the greenhouse is full of baby seedlings!:)
