Has anyone ever participated in the annual weinerdog race?? I thought about entering Drake last year and didn't get the opportunity. This year I definatly plan too.
If you have particpated in it before I'd love to hear about it and see and pics you may have.
Oh and we are going to get him a little hotdog costume to wear to the race also. He's a very quick little dog, so we think he will stand a good chance of winning. :D :p

That's how I know about them too!
Last year they came right to Sandusky, Ohio. That is only about 45min. from me. I wanted to go and at least watch, but we had something else to do that day (though I can't remember what).
This year I definatly plan to go. Hopefully to get Drake into the race, but if not I'd like to just go and watch. Oh and hopefully it is close by again!!

LEAN MEAN WIENER MACHINES WADDLE BACK TO LOS ALAMITOS RACE COURSE FOR ANNUAL WIENERSCHNITZEL WIENER NATIONALS
All Proceeds of Event Benefit the Seal Beach Animal Care Center
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – It is time once again for the race to the wiener’s circle. Wienerschnitzel, the world’s largest hot dog chain, is sponsoring the 8th Annual Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals, a 50-yard dachshund sprint to the finish line. The event will be held at Los Alamitos Race Course on Saturday, May 31. Post time is 6 p.m. with the first horse race immediately following. All proceeds of the race will benefit the Seal Beach Animal Care Center, a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to finding homes for lost and abandoned animals.
After an extensive and thorough selection process including hundreds of eager applicants, 64 wiener dogs (dachshunds) will compete in this year’s heated Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals. This is no “small” feat – the Wiener Nationals typically draw the largest crowd of the season at Los Alamitos Race Course.
The race itself consists of eight heats with the finalist from each trial advancing to the final race. The victor of the final race will be crowned the “2003 Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals Top Dog,” and earn his or her owner a $500 prize. For added incentive, Wienerschnitzel will award the winning pooch an official Wienerschnitzel doghouse, a replica of the original A-frame restaurant.
Total purse for the Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals is $1,000; $500 for first including Wienerschnitzel doghouse, $200 for second and $50 for third through eighth place.
“The Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals is one of Orange County’s most popular events,” says Tom Amberger, director of marketing for Wienerschnitzel. “Race fans and wiener dog fanatics alike look forward to this highly-entertaining and very competitive night at the races.”
Tickets for the Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals can be purchased at the Seal Beach Animal Care Center for $5, with proceeds going directly to the Care Center. Tickets can also be purchased at Los Alamitos Race Course. Children under 18 and parking are free. Los Alamitos Race Course is located on Katella Avenue, two miles east of the 605 Freeway at 4961 Katella Avenue, Los Alamitos, Calif. For More Information, call (714) 820-2800
Founded by John Galardi in 1961 with a single hot dog stand in Wilmington, Calif., Wienerschnitzel (www.wienerschnitzel.com) is one of the real pioneers of the quick-service food industry. Having successfully carved out a niche with hot dogs, the world’s largest hot dog chain served more than 106 million hot dogs annually. Based in Newport Beach, Calif., Wienerschnitzel has approximately 358 stores in ten states.

I don'tkow where in Ohio you are, but they also have one every year in Jenera, Ohio. ( near Findlay) I have never gone, but I hear it is quite the festival!
I remember seeing a show about weiner dog races. It looks like a fun hobby. It would be a fun way to get together with people, and just have fun! :)
