I don't think whoever did this is human, I think he is a monster.

I wish there was a fast way to keep updated on what happens with these type of stories. The legal system takes so long to prosecute or not....
Many details missing- I'm sure animal rights activists, rescue groups, etc, must be outraged.
Lots of people will want to adopt that one survivor.. Lots of people will want to duct tape this persons hands and feet together, set them on fire, and walk away....
Others will "argue" it's just an animal. On the "positive" side (if one can use that word), if it were a cat, the media attention and community sympathy would be a lot less than what I suspect the attention this story will get.
Keep us updated with news reports and anything else pertaining!

also, have you posted this on other threads? There are others in pet talk that would probably like to know about this but don't go to this particular thread....

This sorry excuse for a human should be taken off the streets. I can't see why the video footage from Walgreens where he bought the accelerant can't be examined. I sure hope they can identify this monster and then throw the book at him. It's sad that it takes something newsworthy to bring out people in droves wanting to adopt the surviving pups. Why can't these people just adopt any animal on death row? With still millions being euthanized in shelters throughout the country, people should rethink their "logic" and just adopt! GEESH!

WTF?!
Who knows where people like that come from...and until someone asks (and a streight answer is given) no one will know for sure...

Although it was really tough and I cried the whole time, I read the entire story.
*sigh*
Humanity (and I use that term loosely) disgusts me sometimes.
The person in the story is right, tho. People who do this to animals eventually do this to people and we can stop them sooner if we can catch them early.

They've arrested a 19-year-old guy who has reportedly confessed--although nobody's said why he did such a horrible thing:

Thanks to "Westy's law," which was named after a cat who was set on fire (and amazingly survived), animal cruelty penalties in Colorado have more teeth. Also, they're charging him with arson. So hopefully this scum will do time.

Thank you so very much for sending this and if you ever find out the final verdict- please send us here! Do you think it will take several months to resolve? I would think not where he is confessing though he might take back his confession once in court. That happens a lot- "I was pressured into confessing because..."
Hopefully the shelter he broke into has a better security system or I wonder if he was an employee or ex-employee or someone with access to the building without setting off alarms?

I'm guessing there'll be a plea bargain, but I can't believe they'd let him off without some prison time, given the attention this case is getting.

In my opinion: the punishment should fit the crime......he needs to have a harsher sentencing I think!!!!
A slap on the hand and $25,000 is not enough for this inhumane creep!!!!!!!
Don't they have harsher punishments in other countries? (Like maybe a hand or 2 cut off)
