You can have him after tonight! ;)

I was downstairs doing laundry and folded a whole new set of towels and pulled out a freshly cleaned bath mat. I carried my load upstairs, dropped the towels into their cabinet and carried the mat into the bathroom...

What do I see when I turn the light on? Allen in the middle of pooping on the other bathmat! He knew he was wrong, so he flew out of the bathroom and I rolled the evidence into the toilet and swapped the mats. Back to the laundry again!

Well, you could look at it this way. At least he was in the right room;all you have to do now is to train him to perch himself over the toilet instead of on the bathmat :D
Sorry, don't mean to make light of the subject; you must have been quite miffed. If there aren't any takers, I'd like to apply.

He is probably mad that the camera is not working right and now he won't get posted.;)

Sorry Allen did that, I wonder why? I don't remember you saying that he has ever done that.

Well I hope he is OK. I am very tempted to apply, I don't have an orange tabby.;)

I think I'll give him another chance! He has ALWAYS done that... don't know why. If there is a carpet down he uses it instead of the box. No carpet = he uses box. Even if we put towels down instead of the mat, he will use the box. Its frustrating because he somehow knows when a new mat is down. I have put one down and no more than 5 mintues later, there a fresh pile of poo. And it has absolutely nothing to do with how clean the box is. He's just a weird cat.

And tonight was not the night to do that... We had a flood in our basement, right where he laundry is. Whenever the laundry piles up, I'll just throw blankets and towels on the floor and catch up when I can... only with the flood, everything is soaked and rather stinky. I wasn't home much yesterday or today, so things have been fermenting since Friday's heavy rain & flooding.:( So here I am with fresh, clean, smell-free towels and mat... only to have him create another load of laundry! :(

PS: no sooner did I hit POST when he came in a bullied the dog out of the bed! She was highly upset about that! Sigh, my big guy has a big personality!:D

Oh Allen you nawtee kitty. You're not suppose to do poopie doos on meowmies nice clean mat.
Just curious, but if you hang the mat on the edge of the tub, will Allen pull it down to do his business on it?

I'm sorry to hear about the flood in your basement.
(Glad I live on the second floor)

Oh no! Allen, you naughty boy!

At a dinner party, a girl told me that her cat would always pee on her bed when she changed the bedlinen. Perhaps they want to mark it. Annoying anyway!

Fister uses our bathmat to lay and sleep on sometimes - much more civilised. ;)

I hope Allen will stop this behaviour soon. :)

Well, Doogie does that. The only GOOD thing about it (if there IS a good thing) is that he keeps it in the kittybox room on the mat. I think that's his way of telling me that the box needs scooping because it's always in front of a different box.

Perhaps to you the laundry is fresh and clean smelling but to him it may not smell right and he feels compelled to fix it. Have you tried a different detergent, softener or dryer anti-static? Maybe a different scent or lack of scent may make the difference.

Its not the smell of the box or the mat. I've talked to others and have determined its the rubber backing. Since we've tried the other types of mat mats and found they don't work as well in our bathroom, I went back to them... and Allen went back to using it instead of his box. I wash everytthing in the same soap and he will never ever poo on a towel when its down (sometimes he goes through mats faster than I can wash them and we put down towels as a mat.) For some reason, the non-rubber backed mats don't hold up as well as the rubber and they don't protect the floor as well either. So when he's a knuckle-head (as my husband calls him) I just roll everything in the toilet and toss the mat into the hamper.

And for the record, I do intend to keep him for the long haul! He just was really bad last night! He's back to sweet Allen today. I'll post some pictures of him that I took right before my camera got sick--sometime soon.
