I know I showed some pics of Petey a looong time ago. He is the pet of my brother and his wife. A while ago they got another parakeet, Chip. I went over to their apartment the other night so I finally got some new pics.

We weren't there very long and they didn't get them out of the cage, so the pics aren't the best. They are in separate cages right now. Apparently they get along ok, but when they put them in one cage Petey the brat wouldn't let Chip eat.

They're ADORABLE! Look *exactly* like my friend's pair. Are the friendly/hand-tame, or do they just stay in the cage all the time?

They are pretty friendly. Usually when we go over there they get them out, they just didn't this time. They like to sit on people's shoulders...I've had them each perch on my finger a few times. :)

Petey's the loud, bossy one...Chip is rather quiet and not quite as snotty as Petey.

Oh yeah, D'oh. :o I don't know anything about birds, but I remember Britney (my brother's wife) saying she thought "he" was. So I guess "her" real name is Petunia or something lol. I'm so used to saying "he" though I totally forgot about that.

OMG!! Petey looks JUST like our Izzie! Aren't parakeet's the best? I love them. But Izzie growls at you, when you even lay a finger on him. :rolleyes: Brat! And in the last pic, of the both of them, in the cage on the left, the toy with all the rings that hangs down, Izzie has that one. Great pics! What beautiful birdies!:)

Petey is a girl. Male parakeets have either a blue or purple "nose", like Chip. Females have a peach color "nose", like Petey. Also be careful with those cottlebone holders. I know of many birds that have been cut or even died due to those metal holders. They do make plastic holders that are much more safe. I'm glad you love your birds, they are beautiful.

Petey and Chip are both so cute!
Our parakeet T-bird did the same thing that Petey did, we thought she was a boy when she was a baby but then her beak color changed to brown and we figured out that she was a girl.;)
