Some of you wanted to meet a few of the kitties from the shelter so I got a few pictures last night. Some I don't know to much about other than they are adorable and I love each and every one of them!!http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/biggrin.gif

This is Treat. He is the adorable guy that is leash trained. He was brought to the shelter after a divorce.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid102/pe63d929eb5c2708fce54a6c1060da23e/f9b3a40b.jpg

This is the precious baby Mike that was so sick. I'm soooo happy to report that he was well enough to be moved into a cage with his brothers!! He seems much happier but has lots more healing to do. Now you can se why he had me by the heartstrings!!!
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid102/pdba70aec337be62d24ef4263455243ad/f9b3a403.jpg

This is the sweet Bastet. I did find out more about her. She was dropped at the shelter pregnant and in labor!!! A woman who fosters got her immediately and headed for home. She said the poor little thing screamed in labor all the way. She said she tried to avoid any bumps and talk to her. Later she delivered 5 healthy kittens that have now gone to their forever homes.

Can you imagine what all that must have been like for her. Hurting with labor, dropped in a strange place, picked up by a stranger, taken to an unknown place to give birth to her precious babies! It makes me sick to think about it.

I don't understand why the names and I don't know their story yet. I'm going to guess it has something to do with the holidays!!
The little tabby is Merry and the big orangie is Christmas!
Christmas is always pinning down little Merry and giving him/her (I don't know the sex of the little one. EEK embarassed) a good bath. Christmas is a very large cat and he plays with the little one so gently.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid102/p2ce3331670f1856904400a5feb966fb8/f9b3a3fb.jpg

I have a few more pics that I will post later. It is a little complicated at work to do anymore right now.
I also apologize for most of the shots being taken through the cage. I didn't want to do that but everytime I opened the doors they wanted to come out and be loved. They just wouldn't hold still otherwise. The one that I did get was of Bastet and you can see she is on her way out to get some lovin!! (yes, I stopped taking pictures and held her for a long time)

How adrorable! :) Baby Mike is such a cutie, I can understand why you're in love with him!

Poor poor Bastet! It's good news that at least her kittens have a home now, but who can be so cruel to bring a cat in labor to a shelter!? I will never understand these people!

Treat, Bastet and Merry are beautiful tabbies, Merry resembles Lily a lot! And Christmas... what a sweet orange boy! :)

Thanks for sharing! :)

It does my heart good to hear about the success stories! I love Merry and Christmas... they remind me of my Allen and Pouncer.

Keep up the good work and post more pictures!

Ok, I got a few extra minutes to post the rest of the pictures.

This is Rocky. He is a major arm grabber when you go by and very loving.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid102/pc470e3794050426f53e53060d9ea0ecf/f9b3a420.jpg

I ashamed to say that I don't remember the names of these two. The little black kitten is really young. He is very sleek and just adorable! I don't know to much about the other kitty. She is beautiful and I am not going to be sure that I find out more about the two of them.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid102/p2b7758a05845bed23382b27ef512b57f/f9b3a424.jpg

This is the BEAUTIFUL Evita. She is very friendly but easily over stimulated. Small doses work best with her. It may just be because she is so love deprived. The only thing I know for sure is that she is gorgeous cat.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid102/p8639ccdee1ccfc3a784a8881b1116955/f9b3a421.jpg

This is Sunkist and again I'm not sure if it's he or she!! I'm so bad! Which ever it is I do know that he is small framed and very regal sitting in the cage. A beautiful buff that reminds some of my Sammy.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid102/p182d72ba1bdeabf5609c387ee8be4f30/f9b3a41d.jpg

These are two adorable tuxies. I'm in trouble again because I only remember ones name. Her name is Debbie and they are siblings. Look like twins to me!!
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid102/pb9a4436810399756b2f81834b4a1fa85/f9b3a419.jpg

This is an unassuming little guy. He just sits on the floor in his cage and never makes a sound. He just watches feet go by.

It's so sad to see all these lovely kitties in cages. :( I just can't understand anyone could leave them!

You're doing such a great job there!! I can tell you've got a little more used to it by now. It's so rewarding, isn't it! :) I hope they'll all find loving forever homes soon!!

I'm in love with Treats, Bastet, Merry, Christmas, Nate, Sunkist and the two tuxies.

Please keep us updated on how they're doing when you have time. Thanks for posting the pics. :)

Catnapper: The only way I can leave there without taking them home is because I can't choose! I walk around thinking if I could take even two ot three home who would I take. I don't know!!! I feel sad for the older kitties and think they deserve a home so bad. Then I see the babies and think that just once in my life I deserve a baby that isn't feral. Just one baby that I can have fun with and wants to be snuggled. Then I realize that those babies will get homes so fast and I feel guilty and sad for the older ones again!! Even if I were to decide to take an older one home which one would it be??? The tuxies are gorgeous! Sunkist has the sweetest face of any adult cat that I have seen. River is black and short haired and they don't get adopted very fast. Should I take him because he is going to be hard to place? The biggest problem is that right now there are about 50 more just like them!!! I want them all!!!
A new baby came in yesterday and I hope she went to a foster home because if she didn't then she will be the one I can't say no to. I saw her last night and she hooked me with one look. I hope I don't see her anymore because she will be my downfall.
Another issue that I have to consider is who will get along with the current crew!!!

They are all so cute, it is sad to see them all in cages. If I worked there I would really want to take them all home and I would be sad all the time because I couldn't. This is why I don't think that I could ever work at a shelter. I am just not wired right.

You and all others who do this have my thanks for taking care of them.

I really like Merry and Christmas, I am so glad that they have each other.:)

I actually loved all of them. Thanks

Now I am NOT trying to influence you, HONESTLY - but I did want to comment on the above statement. In all my life, I have also never had a kitten. When looking to once again fill our empty nest when our last geriatric died, you know we ended up with TWO kittens and i would never trade that experience! I never knew what fun, love and laughter that kittens could bring to our home. Always before we had older cats, troubled cats or fosters. Having these two babies was pure delight. I know i will never again have a kitten and find so much joy in my plush Dylan that others did not find appealing but that is another story. If you have never raised a friendly, sweet and cuddly kitten, I would wish that you would experience it, just once. I would say foster - but fostering a kitten and giving it up - I have a feeling you would not be able to do that. My two cents. Life is short.

PS You do NOT have a white, black or jellicle in your sig block.....

PPS THANK YOU for all the wonderful shelter pictures:D I loved them all and I love all the stories and commentary - please keep it coming - I hang on every word!!

I hope and pray that they all find forever, loving homes.
It also breaks my heart to see them in such confined cages.

This is exactly why I had to stop volunteering at the shelter. Just seeing this cats in your pictures makes me want to take them ALL home!! :( Before we volunteered at the shelter and with TNR, we only had Noah, Noel and Basie...now I have eight cat in just two years!

If you are able to, I would go with a kitten. They are the most easy to introduce into a multiple cat home. My vote would be on those two tuxy twins. ;) Its fun to have kittens, but precious to have two sibling kittens. :D I love having my two babies...they are great friends.

Keep up your fabulous work at the shelter. Those cats need your love and the effect will be forever for them. :) Bless you!

Yup, that's why I'm not allowed, because I would bring them all home. And I just can't fit anymore in this appartment. Consequentily, I am glad that where I adopted mine, there were only ever a few at a time, so that I didn't take them all home!

It is so sad to see all those poor , unhappy little faces , all of whom , would make someone a lovely companion animal. I cant stand to go in , as I am way over the limit , by 11 , and have some stryas otside , that I would take in , first. The Found Cats and I are praying that those Cats all get a Furrever Home , and damn the irresponsible Idiots that put them there , in the First Place!

Lisa, you are the cat's "meow", for sure (that's a compliment, by the way). Thank you for taking time to love these precious ones every time you walk in, plus taking pictures for all of us. :)

Me either Gary ..so thankful for people like Lisa, though!!! Easy for me to sit and sew....when she is out doing the dirty and heartwrenching work:( I am VERY proud of her!!! And, I know that those kitties she takes time to snuggle have a much better day because of her.

You guys are so sweet but believe me I don't do nearly what a lot of PT people do!! I really enjoy it even though it breaks my heart to not bring them all home. It's nasty work sometimes but the snuggle time makes it all worth it. After I fed, watered, cleaned cages, swept, mopped, and walked a couple of dogs, I took about ten different kitties out of their cages and sat on the floor with each one for a few minutes. I try to spend time with the ones that are alone in their cages before going to the ones that have buddies. It makes you feel so guilty when you can't let them loose to move around and when you have to put them back in the cage but you know so many more are waiting.
Oh! I got the story on Merry and Christmas. Like we were thinking they were dumped on the doorstep of the shelter Christmas eve. Merry was very young and Christmas has always taken care of her. She suckled HIM and he would snuggle her and wrap his paws around her. HE still takes care of her today. This BIG BURLY ORANGIE plays constantly with her, holds her down and grooms her, and always lets her eat her fill before he eats! I pray that they get adopted together! That worries me to death. They are sooooo attached. Don't think it hasn't crossed my mind to bring these two home!!

OMG! I love the story about Merry and Christmas!! That is sooooo sweeet. Surely they HAVE to stay together???? Oh please tell me yes:eek: They would make sure a perfect cat-family for somebody!! Hours of fun watching the interaction and loving. This is just so SWEET!!!!! I, too, want to come snuggle them all and then bring them home!!! Do you know I checked the map and you are about two hours away - we drove an hour for Dylan - do you know how tempting it is to show up at the shelter after I see these pictures??? Now, tell me it is strictly against the rules to adopt out of state RIGHT?? ;) :D :p OK, OK, I'll keep SEWING! I know, when we are crazy old widow ladies, we can live our eccentric lives and take in any cat we see. I have this cat lady on SIMS and her name in Ginia.....*crazed laughter and meows *

well it IS 4 in the morning..... :D :D

Sirrahbed I hate to break it to you but NO it is NOT against the rules to adopt from out of state!!http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/smile.gif Even if it was I would make sure their was an exception in your case!!!http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/biggrin.gif Is there room for another orangie in your life that comes with a little gray tabbie tag along??http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/wink.gif
Lets see...you drove one hour for Dylan and I'm two hours away. You could drive one hour and I could drive one hour and meet in the middle!! The cool thing about these two is you get another Dylan/Peanut Butter and an adorable silly little kitten! The big guy has all the big orangie traits. I have yet to see him extend his claws. He is a SWEETIE!!!!
I know I'm playing on your exhausted senses since you were still up at 4:00 am! Why? That game again??? You will probably be well rested by the time you read this and will have come to your senses but just in case you haven't I will even drive the two hours and deliver them personally!!!http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/biggrin.gif You only have three my dear, you have a lot of catching up with me to do!!!http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/biggrin.gif

YES I have been sleeping!!
Geez, did I write that? It must have been someone else....I DID mean it at the time.
BTW...YOU did not fuss about all the reasons why you need a KITTEN. I thought I made a very good plea, too...earlier on this thread!!:D

What time is it?? What DAY is this? My clock is messed up. Yes, OK, I have been playing the GAME!! I think I also have the flu. I am going back to BED. Everything hurts. WAAAAAAA.
Need sympathy. Where the heck are all my kitty nurses???...going to look for them NOW.

Oh my look at all those kitties! I want another kitty soooo bad! I like Evita the best, looks like my mom's cat Mickey. Mom loved that cat sooo much, she was so friendly. I wish she was still here too.
