I think this subject might have come up before but it was before I got Ripley. He is such a character that I wondered if there were any others out there like him. At night both he and Bella sleep in my bed, as well as Trevor occasionally. :) Well Bella just finds a spot and flops down. Ripley likes to be under the covers and that is fine, but he goes around and around and around before settling down. He also sometimes digs at the sheet. Wonder what he is hoping to dig up? LOL! I find myself laughing out loud at this lump under the covers going around and around and around and digging. Anyone else have a dog who does this?

Malone does this too!! :D He usually turns about 3-4 times, and lately has gotten into the habit of pulling the corner of his bed up to make it thicker on one side. Sometimes he will turn 3 times and then settle down; only to get up again and turn 3 more times; and again.....

Guess they are looking to find the most comfortable spot possible! ;)

Guess which one of my weirdos is a turner?????

KITO!!!

He circles around many times, only to end up in the exact same spot as he started:rolleyes: I just laugh at him! He only does it in bed though, not anywhere else he lays down.

Abbey is my interior decorator. There are 3 dog beds in the bedroom. Every night, she's usually the first to go to bed. When she goes up, she must rearrange ALL of them before she settles in one. Sometimes they are just a little moved around, but other times they are all the way around the room, flipped over, and just generally a mess--she moves around and makes herself a pillow on her bed too, when she decides which one that will be.
I call her Paige Davis;)

Why, oh why does this not surprise me? LOL. Maybe cause Chester's my turner & digger? :D

Sheba does that a little, but Pepper does that all the time.
She is always messing up the rugs. :)

Daphne does that too! When she hops up on my bed, she'll turn around and around making a 'nest.' She'll dig in the blankets too, and they end up in a mess underneith her - with none left for me! Sometimes she even ends up pushing the blankets off the bed! Dogs are weird little humans. ;)

I'm manager of a pet boarding facility, we use to have a little dachshund named "Gus" come stay with us. We have 2 size rooms there, the standard suite for dogs up to 35lbs. and the king suite for 35-50lbs. When Gus was in our standard suite he would circle forever without stopping. When we put him in the king suite he would settle down. The standard suite has pleanty of room for a dog of that size and larger, but Gus felt too confined. Gus was a rescue dog, before his owners had rescued him he lived every hour of every day confined in a small crate, which all he could do is circle. Although about 10 crates could fit on the floor of our standard suite he still felt too confined. He did do well in our king suite and came to stay with us many many times.

Katie is a big time turner and makes me think of a cat. Once in awhile she does sleep with me and when she does she has to go round and round and then dig and paw at the covers and make sure everything is perfect before she lays down. I've actually seen her pick the covers up with her mouth to smooth them out. Its too funny!

Pam,

My AnnaBelle is a wild one too! She buries her nose and scoots and kicks and acts like she's gone nuts! It's so funny to watch! :D

All five of mine do it!

Max and Muffin are under the cover sleepers and they will circle and "wretch" up the blankets and/or bedspread to make a little tent they tuck under them to keep them warm.

Molly and Kirby have a "nest" of blankets they will dig and "wretch" at until they have it just the way they want it.

Carly just walks around and around until you'd think she'd be dizzy. Then I've seen her get back up and go the other way.

Silly creatures!! :D
