Tequila shortage hits Los Angeles
Liquor distibutors in the Los Angeles areas have reported a
shortage of tequila in the outlying areas. Although the exact causes of such shortage are still unknown, bottles began to fly off the shelf on Wednesday of last week.
Authorities also have seen a rise in the sales of green slushie mix.
Alcohol Beverage Control agent, Al Havanother told Reuters that there was no significant rise in drunk driving arrests, violence or crime in the area, but he did note, "There was a hell of alot of carrying on in the area between Sunset and Wilshire Boulevard.
It happened the same time last year in the same area......I really don't know what is going on."
City officials are still investigating and tequila processing plants have stepped up production to make up for the shortage.
HELP!! :o
There was a knock on my door this morning after I got back from the airport and it was the POLICE.
I am allowed just one internet post, so I plead with any of you out there to please come get me out of jail.

Laurie, Slick and Tonya for making the trip.
Rascal, Annie and Emma for being entertainment.
To all the people who took and made the calls.
To Wolflady, KAK, NM and ES.. You guys rock!!
The hubbies who put up with you :D
To everyone that checked in on us while we were carrying on..
You were ALL there in spirit.....
Thanks to Karen and Paul for making PT possible-and giving us a chance to meet each other.
To Gini's neighbor's---They did not call the police.
I tried to count all the times we laughed, but Gini said it best....
She put her thumb and forefinger on her chin and said, "I have been laughing so much my jaw hurts...."
Thank you Mario!!!
And last but not least.....................................
Gini's blender.
There has never been a vessel that has dispensed so much laughter, mirth, giggles and green and red slushies!!
I'll remember who I missed when the alcohol wears off!!!

Hey everyone: I've been back home for about an hour and can't seem to muster up the energy to unpack. Unpacking is so final and is really a sign that my trip is over.
I've always taken pride in the fact that I don't cry in public, but today is an exception. I cried when the plane took off, I cried when the plane landed (thank God there was no one sitting beside me), and I'm crying as I write this. After 4 full days of intense fun and frolic, I feel like I have a big void to fill. My heart aches because I've left some good friends behind.
To Tracey, Laurie, Tonya, Kelly, Karen and Sara: I enjoyed meeting you all and as Gini has so kindly mentioned, Kelly made me wet my pants! :D Tracey, you are a gem and I'll treasure that Pet Talk hat and make sure the kitties know the gifts are from you. Laurie, I never thought I would meet someone with the same sick sense of humour. Hugs to you. Tonya, well, what can I say. If I could live life all over again, I would want you as a little sister. Kelly and Karen, it was so nice to share a laugh with you and I sure hope we can keep in touch outside of Pet Talk. Kelly, thanks again for the kitty presents and for you time to show us around Dizzyland. Sara: I had absolutely no idea you were the mystery guest until you showed up. Hugs to you and tell the E's that I know how lucky they are.
Richard: It was really really scary how our minds thought alike. Thanks goodness there are only two of us in the world. :D You make a great slushie and don't forget to open up the bar again tomorrow. I'm already parched!!!! Big bear hug to you.
Last but not least, Gini: You have a heart of gold and I will be forever grateful for the kindness that you showed me. Thank you for taking on this rowdy crowd and please tell Rusty and Ginger that I enjoyed scratching their butts. :D
To all of the people I spoke to over the phone: it was good to speak to you and put a voice to the name. Phred, I apologize if I sounded nervous, I was. It was like I was talking to Gawd himself.
I hope I did not leave out any Pet Talkers; if I did I'm sorry. I guess I'd better go bring my life into some sort of normality now.
Love to all of you.
Slick

Slick, I just have to say you make the BEST crab dip and Bailey's Irish Cream EVER!!! I have to have those recipes!
BAILEY'S IRISH CREAM
In a big bowl, whiz up all the following ingredients until it gets nice and foamy. Then taste, then bottle. Does not have to age. Can be consumed right away.
1 mickey Rye (OK, your Americans call it a "fifth")
1 large whipping cream
1 small 1/2 & 1/2 or creamo
2 eggs
4 tblsp. chocolate syrup
1 1/2 tsp. coconut extract
2 tblsp. instant coffee
1 can sweetened condensed milk
This recipe may be doubled or tripled depending on the size of the bowl and the amount of consumption.......And of course, the amount of Rye may vary depending on taste......I always put a little extra in........
Makes three 26-oz bottles. Because it's made with dairy products, it only lasts about 3 weeks in the fridge. Unfortunately, it will have to be used up in that time........
______________________________________________
HOT CRAB DIP:
Take one very menopausal woman and dip her into a cool pool of water  :D
Seriously:
Mix all together
1 cup of crab meat
1 cup of mayo
1 cup of grated cheddar cheese
1 cup of finely chopped onion
Heat up in a pan and put into a hollowed out loaf of sourdough bread.

*bows at your feet*...I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy! LOL :p
Slick, what good news to read that you got home safely. I wish Zip would check in - but I betcha K'Cee and that Piper aren't leaving her alone for a minute.
I think I will echo Karen's chant "I am not worthy" "I am not worthy"..................you are one very dear lady and it was an absolute joy for me to meet you and now be able to call you friend.
And what was that you left on my bed? For shame.......you were my guest and it was an expensive trip for you to come to the BBQ.
I hope you, along with everyone will start your change jar and save up for next year. It was so much fun that I can hardly wait to do all of this again.

Oh brother, just as my eyes dried up here they come again. I think I'll look up my local chapter of "SAPS ANONYMOUS". Thanks for your kind words.
Things I've learned from going to Gini's BBQ:
1. When in doubt, look in every kitchen cupboard and you'll find it.
2. Before pressing the flash button on the camera, take note of where it is pointing first.
3. Take more diapers than you think you need.
4. Just when you've thought you've laughed enough, along comes Mario.
5. When trying to avoid a moving chair, check to make sure there are no planters in the way of your fall.
6. When rubbing a dog's butt, be prepared for a committment of at least 1 hour.
7. When walking into the LA airport, no one cares if you have tail or not.
and the most important thing I learned:
Drink slushies SLOW!!
I challenge all other BBQ participants to post things they've learned from this experience.:)

After a delayed, turbulent(!) flight, I am home but NOT awake...
Let me tell you, K'Cee is NOT a vocal cat; RARELY purrs. After walking in with my suitcases, I sat down (on the bed) and got to hear my little sweety purr for the 4th or 5th time since I've had her.
Once my butt hit the bed, it was over; I fell asleep and just did wake up. I am utterly exhausted and have yet to eat lunch/supper. Unpack? Pfft, I'll do it tomorrow.
I have sooooo much to share about my trip and the WONDERFUL people I met, but right now I feel I can't do them justice. I will wait until tomorrow after work (work? what's that?) to tell stories/post pictures.
{{luv ya'll}}
PS Down here, I don't have an accent. ;)
Thank you God, everyone is home safely!

I think we should all unite and protest this thing called "work." It just really interferes with all our fun! Now I can't even think of seeing more pics of the party until tomorrow since Zippy has to w*rk today. :(
When we went to the airport to pick up Slick, at the international terminal we couldn't find her. I turned around and saw this woman walking along with these huge black glasses and big nose. The best part was that she had a very long, thick tail she was flicking around.
I turned to Richard and said OMG, she wouldn't do that to us would she? Richard held up the sign that said SLICK...........and this lady with the big nose and tail starts waving at us.
She came over and slapped Richard with her tail and said HI RICHARD!!
This is Los Angeles - she didn't even get a funny stare from anyone...........:D :D http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid130/p588c4150a0cff6341dfb0896b90c2a3c/f7b7fc00.jpg.thumb

I was trying to piece together the whole weekend and I found my self having a problem not remembering what I did...It wasn't drinking that made me forget. It was the incredible amount of excitement in the air..
Being the only guy in the mix was fun...either I was an honorary woman or the group became honorary men...;)
I do remember having a blast helping make potato salad in Gini's kitchen!
And our Sunday jaunt was rather fun too!!!
Another thing I wanted to point out was there were 5282 views on the thread last wednesday before the BBQ, now the count is 8,000 some odd..

There was a roll of film on the end table of the room I was sleeping in.... I had no clue who it belonged to! Might double check with Ginster. :)

Captain's right. Drinking is NOT a prerequisite. I'm sure I speak for Gini when I say that all are welcome and there was plenty of alcohol-free beverages to be had. As for Dizzyland, I'm going again next year. Want to join me Wolf_Q?

It looks like you guys had so much fun. I'm really enjoying seeing the pictures and hearing the tales.
I want to go next year!!!! I've never been to CA.
Immediately several people come to mind who did not have a drop of alcohol. AND we had margarita slushies that Richard makes to perfection. They taste just great - but you don't get silly drunk on them.
It bothers me a lot when people think all we did was get drunk - and that just isn't true.
Why do you think it took four of us to make lemonade????
We wanted to have enough on hand along with all of the soft drinks for everyone. There were a lot of soda cans at the end of the day to recycle...........so somebody was NOT drinking a drop of alcohol!!:D :D
Night night...........talk to you tomorrow.

Great pics everyone! Looks like you all had a great time.
I hope you guys don't take offense to people thinking there was a lot of drinking. It does sort of look that way from our outside point of view since it was mentioned a lot. But I'm sure most of them were just inside jokes that we don't understand since we weren't there. Its hard to infer things over the internet without hearing peoples' tones, etc. :)
My boyfriend has a conference in LA next August and he wants me to go so it looks like I will get to meet some of you Cali people afterall!

Yeah, finally some more pics! Which makes me all sort so jealous all over again. :D
Yes, Slick, I'll go to Disneyland with you next year! But you have to promise to go on Spash Mountain again! :D
I can see how to those who don't actually drink in real life it might see that this party is all about the alcohol, but for those of us who do have a drink on occassion, we know there is no way everybody could start drinking early in the morning and still be standing at midnight. Well.....maybe Richard can do that, but not most of the rest of us. ;)
It's just like any other social gathering where some people drink and others don't. It's just that the drinks make for better jokes. Mind you I said the "drinks" make for better jokes, not the "drinkers." ;) :D
And I forgot who asked, but yes, hubbies are welcome. I know Sara had Don there and Karen's hubby Aaron was there and I'm not sure about Kelly's David, but I'm sure Richard appreciates all the male companionship he can get. Being an honorary woman can only go so far I'm sure. ;) :D I'm going to try and talk Terry into coming next year, but this time I'm coming with or without him! :D

Ok, here's a tale for ya... (Hope Kelly doesn't read this! lol)
Kelly and I were shopping in a jewelry store and I was eye-ing the wonderful case of rings. (Not sure where Slick was during this episode.) At any rate, I noted that there was only one ring in my size, and it was UGLY! Kelly and I used the little turn-table thing and looked for my size. Nope! None to be found except the ugly one!!
Then Kelly points to a pretty ring and says something to the effect of, "Holy crap! Who wears a size 39?!" I happened to look up at that time and saw a size 2; "Who wears a size 2?!" We turn the display some more and Kelly states, "OMG Tonya. Look at this! One, two, three....." The rings were numbered from 1 to 39.  :o LOL!
Thats what happens when you have 2 blondes in a jewelry store! Cute story :)

A funny story about the BBQ.
I am not really into superstition, But I do have a thing about numbers. I ended up with a 666 on a gas pump and almost had a heart attack..
On the way to Gini's house Thursday to pick up Slick I noticed that the first three numbers, '711' on the odometer of my car. I took this as an omen....I mentioned it to Gini and told her that we were going to have good luck for the whole weekend.
Guess what???:D
I plan on playing the lotto at least once a week for the next 51..
I'll buy the plane tickets....
PS Zippy, I still have your $2.00 lotto scratcher..Double or nothing???

I just checked faithful Yahoo maps and it tells me that Orange is approximately a 49 minute drive to my home.
Tell your sister it is a direct route - the #5 freeway to the #101 freeway - and you are there (here).
You would BE MORE THAN WELCOME!!! And of course, your sister would be welcome as well.

OK so I won't quite my day job either
OMG! I just had the best time reading through this thread. I'm very glad Slick was able to attend and be a Canadian representative at the BBQ (love the tail)! You rock chikk!
If you guys were not so far from Toronto, I would have been there in a flash. I'm so jealous!

Connie: Me and Laurie make the purrrfect Cuzin Itts! :D
Ah, but you would be the only one with a tail! (Yes, I SAW the picture) That would be a way to tell you apart, I guess! :D
I'd love to see the house where the Adams family was filmed. Do you know that Lurch is buried in a back yard somewhere in California? His ashes were buried in the yard of the home he was living in at the time of his death. When his widow moved, she couldn't remember where exactly he was buried. Someday, someone who now owns that house may get a BIG surprise!
Richard and Slick you are SO funny. My side hurts from your rendition of the Adams family theme song.:D My cats are giving me the "oh, oh, Mawmee's finally lost what little was left of her mind", look!:D

Kelly, I am afraid that we resemble that remark! Heck, who needs slushies - look what we can do sober!
And by the way, I did wonder why there are not one - but TWO For Sale signs in my neighborhood. And there are people who stand and point at my home...........hmmmm......is there a connection?

I wonder if it had anything to do with me standing on your lawn while I was scratching and staring at the people going into see the house?
If you hadn 't borrowed Slick's tail, no one would have ever noticed!!
And you were scratching your right ear with your right foot............that probably got their attention too.

"Bum Shots", oh my... at least we didn't REALLY moon anyone (did we?) Slick, the Itt Sisters will never live THAT one down now  Yes everyone, I'm at the office but not officially back until tomorrow. It will take me that long to sift through my email probably. Gini, you definately are the greatest for putting up with all our shinanigans and I thank you for being my friend
