Please, anyone within cooee of Fort Worth, Texas, consider giving this lovely boy a home....or passing on his details to people who might be interested.
This message has been put out by the US Tibetan Spaniel Rescue.
(I help out with Tibetan Spaniel Rescue in Australia)
"There is an 8 yr old male in a shelter in Ft. Worth TX. He's a beautiful dog who is pretty much deaf and can't see well (special needs) but because of that and his age, he's been tagged as unadoptable. His time is extremely limited.
If you can give this old boy a home for the next 8 or so years, please email me asap
[email protected] for photos and contact information. Please act quickly if interested!!"

Just so you can see how beautiful Tibetan Spaniels are, here's a pic of Mingki a rescue Tibbie that we just placed in a good home here in Australia.
I am only a couple hours from Ft. Worth! Is there anything I can do to help?? I will go pick him up and foster him until I can find a rescue group for him. I have several contacts here.
I'll send an email to that addy!

Angels3,
I'm so glad that Aly saw this thread. She's the first person
I thought of when you said he's at a Ft.Worth Shelter. I sure
hope she can help this older guy. Sounds like he really needs
a friend now. It would be wonderful for him to be able to live
out his life in love & dignity.
I emailed that addy but haven't heard anything back yet :(
I'm really anxious to hear from them because his time is limited :(

Aly & Lizbud, thank you so very much for your responses. Tibetan Spaniels are rather rare dogs which means that the breed rescue help has to try to stretch across a whole country...We have this challenge in Australia, too.
I agree with you...time would be quickly running out for this fella.
So sad because the special needs Grandpa or Grandma Dogs make wonderful gentle pets as they happily live out their lives. We adopted an 8 yr old rescue Grandma Tibbie..& friends adopted another 10 yr old rescue Tib..
I'll email the Tib Rescue person, too...to say that someone is trying to contact her re this fella. Thank you once again.

Aly & Lizbud, I got an update from Deb from US Tib Spaniel Rescue about Patrick...the senior citizen Tibbie. She said quite a few people responded to help him.
It now stands that a lass & her daughter are driving up from Houston to collect Patrick & then foster him. So Patrick has the Luck of the Irish & is saved from the green needle.
Apparently this lass has experience with special needs dogs & will assess Patrick & then he'll be available for adoption.
It's known so far that Patrick is well behaved, in good health, UTD on shots, neutered &, housebroken. It'd be great to see Patrick's Irish (oops, Tibetan) Eyes smiling in a new home. I wish I was not across the Pacific...I'd happily adopt him. We already have a senior Sheltie & 2 senior Tibbies whom we love dearly.
So would you & other kind people on the board spread the word that Patrick needs a forever home? Anyone interested can contact Deb at
[email protected]
She can send photos of Patrick. (I'll see if I can get a pic to post.)
Thank you & bless you,
Marie
Thank you Marie :) I got that email also and will definately spread the word that a special little guy needs a home!

Thanks, Aly. I'm waiting for a pic of Patrick to post.
In the meantime, here's a pic of a 10 yr old Tibbie that we've been rehoming here. His name is PJ (wonder if the 'P' stands for Patrick? That'd be a coincidence!!!). PJ shows how Tibbies tend to keep a 'puppy' look throughout their lives. People always think our two 8 yr old Tibbie girls are puppies.

Marie,
So good to hear this update on Patrick.:) I'm glad he might be
considered for adoption. He sounds like that's all he needs is a
home to call his own. I believe Aly has many contacts in Texas as
she does many fosters for a Shelter there. Thanks to you folks
maybe Patrick will find his forever home. Older dogs are special
souls & humans owe them dignity & kindness.:) I'd love to see
a picture of Patrick if you get one. Thanks. Bless you both. Liz.

I got another update from Deb....& she thought she'd attached pics of Patrick, but hadn't. So I emailed back asking her to resend them.
Deb said Patrick enjoyed his car trip to Houston. And surprised his foster-carer in that he CAN hear. Also didn't seem to be having any great problems with vision...happily sat on her knee & enjoyed looking out the window.
I agree with you, Liz, the senior dogs bring joy & delight to their owners. In our Australian rescue network, we call them Grandma & Grandpa Dogs. But Patrick seems to be shaping up as a sharp fella with a mighty lot of life & personality in him.
And thank you, Aly, if you would spread word about Patrick.
As soon as Deb resends me the pics, I'll post them. Seems Paddy Boy is good looking, too!
I bet he was so depressed in the shelter that he seemed to be blind and deaf :( A little love goes a long way though and I am so glad he is perking up. I can't wait to see a picture :)
PJ is ADORABLE!

You're so right, Aly. The dogs get so depressed or highly anxious in shelters (no matter how good the shelters are). Then the dogs don't show to good advantage so can get passed over or thought to have a poor termperament.
I've found, in rescue work, we need to have faith in what a dog CAN become with love & care.
I'll email Deb again asking her to resend Patrick's pics.

HERE'S PATRICK...THE TEXAS TIBBIE!
Deb says he's adorable...& he is!
In this pic, Patrick has his ears pricked & his tail curled over his back...which is how tibetan spaniels usually look.

ANOTHER PIC OF PATRICK.
This time he has his ears down & his tail down & uncurled...tibetan spaniels do this when they're worried or anxious.
He's golden...like our 2 tibbie girls. And that beautiful coat is wash 'n wear, needs brushing but not clipping. Only place to clip a Tibbie is the hair under its feet.
See Patrick's hare-feet in the pic? Tibbies have feet shaped like a rabbit's or a mountain goat....not rounded like other dogs.

He is a handsome boy!!!!!!! I would have loved to meet him :)

Thanks for the picture of Patrick. He is a very beautiful dog.:)
He looks much younger than 8 yrs old. I also liked reading about
this breed's history. Seems like the Tibetan Spaniels were the
alarm clocks(watch dogs) who woke up the Tibetan Mastiffs(guard
dogs) long, long ago. Very intelligent & good looking breed. I hope
Patrick is happy & gets to settle in with folks to love him.:)

Thanks, Aly, for the kind offer to spread the word about Patrick.
The Tibbie breed does have a 'puppy' look even when older. Our 2 tib girls are 7 & 8 yrs old...& gold like Patrick. Strangers always refer to them as 'puppies'.
One person asked if they were 'Miniature Golden Retriever puppies'! (Have a look at Patrick's pics & you'll see why someone might think that.)
Bless you all for caring about Patrick.:)
