Dear Rio
You are indeed a beautiful and deserving Cat of the Day! Your markings are very striking and elegant and it is a particularly good photograph. How fortunate that you were able to adopt such a loving family & you obviously demonstrate your love for them in many ways. I like the way you are sitting on a white towel: my Tebaldi loves curling up on white towels too (maybe because she is an all-white cat). Best wishes for your special day!

Oh sweet Rio, I too am struck by your markings! You are such a beautiful girl and I am so happy that you have been adopted into a family that loves you so much! :) You look like a very dignified girl and you are so deserving of the special honor of Cat of the Day!

AWWWWWWWW....! So sweet! What an adorable photo, Rio! You look like such a sweet baby. Your face just begs for kisses! I love your markings, too. Especially that little black button nose! All of the "Cat of the Day" photos feature cute kitties, but you are definitely one of the cutest! And meeting you made my day, Rio. :) Congratulations on being our "Cat" today! :D :D Yay for Rio!
"Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand / Just like that river twisting through the dusty land..." (great song!)

Dear Rio - such a lovely look you have. Your markings are so unusual and it seems as though you have a costume on and not the usual cat fur! It sounds as though you have a wonderful existance and are one lucky kitty to be selected from the shelter by your new owners. Were you a kitten when they found you? Have a wonderful day Rio - and take it easy on the furniture at night!!!
Congrats on being C.O.T.D. :D :D

Once more, I feel like breaking into song:
Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand
Just like that river twisting through a dusty land
And when she shines she really shows you all she can
Oh Rio, Rio dance across the Rio Grande
~Duran Duran
Hey Rio, had I known about you I would've looked you up when my hubby and I visited British Columbia this April for our honeymoon! It's a lovely place indeed, and you're a lucky cat to be living in a city of gardens! Congrats on your special day, and kisses on your lovely forehead!

Hey Rio,
You brought me right back to my teenage years as a die-hard "Duranette". I had the posters, the clothes, the hats and most importantly, the HAIR!!!
These days, I'm just a closet Duran fan, LOL!
If ever there was a kitty worthy of being named for a D2 song, it's you!
You're such a pretty little kitty, a tuxedo just like my sweet Charlie (now at the Rainbow Bridge, but never forgotten).
Lovely Rio, I wish you a wonderful, special day today and many, many years of happiness with your loving humans! :) :) :)

Rio, would you believe when I opened up Cat of the Day, "New Moon on Monday" was playing on the radio?
I have a little kitty/D2 story, too. Buster, my very first kitty after I left home, used to go outside, and when he was ready to come back in, he would sit by the patio door and "yeow". I began to notice, though, sometimes I would hear him, but I'd go to the door and he wouldn't be there! This started happening more and more frequently. Then I noticed it always happened when that new Duran song, "Hungry Like the Wolf" was coming on! I wasn't hearing Buster at the door, I was hearing the crying wolf at the end of the song! He he!
Anyway, you are beautiful little girl, named after a good song. Have fun on your day!

Looks like we've got a few Durannies among us! :D Although I have never gone as far as adopt their hairstyle, I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Simon, Andy, John, Roger, and Nick (I'm really partial to the original lineup!). Having Rio featured as COTD has certainly brought a big smile on my face--all the more special because I live one floor down from a lady who plays the keyboards in a Duran Duran tribute band!
Please forgive me for humming the following line--I simply couldn't resist!
Her name is Rio, she don't need to understand
That I might find her if I'm looking like I can
Oh Rio, Rio hear them shout across the land
From mountains in the north down to the Rio Grande

Just had to chime in since I live near the river that inspired the Duran Duran song and the name of our deserving Canadian girl, Rio :D :D :D
