My Friends 12 year old setter just died and she is looking for an Irish Setter pup as a pet, not fo breeding. She is not good on the computer so I told her I would give it a go. Any ideas?
Thank You,
Robin

Hi, welcome to PT! :)

This (http://my.en.com/~isco/rescue.htm) is an Irish setter rescue located in Ohio. Here (http://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi) are a couple of irish setter mixes in Ohio. Here (http://www.dogpage.us/mythodicals.htm) is a breeder located in Ohio.

Good luck! :)

Also try calling your local shelters - you never know who might turn up - or who she might fall in love with. Those silky setter ears are just too sweet! ;)

I am so sorry to hear about your friends loss.

If you do not have any luck with the local rescues and shelters,
Go to the AKC (american kennel club) web site and look under Irish Setters.
Their should be a listing for rescues and also
the official Home breed club for your area so you can contact
and get a list of reputable breeders.

Good luck. : )

I'm sorry to hear of your friend's loss :(

Like most people here, my first recomendations are to check shelters/rescue organization in your area. However, if your friend really does what a purebred puppy from a good breeder, I may be able to get you a few names. I am involved with a Therapy dog group i n Toledo, OH and several of our members have Irish Setters. I could ask who their breeders are and if they may know of any with upcoming litters.

I can not thank all of you enough. I have sent Sheila all the info and she was on the computer and phone most of the day. She and her family are very excited. Now I think she is thinking of two pups!! Know any good Irish names?? Thank You Again, Robin
