I'm starting school on Tuesday night!!

I've been wrestling with the idea of getting my EMT certification for the State of Michigan for the last month or so.

I e-mailed Henry Ford Community College to get info on it but got no response. I finally called today and talked with an advisor who told me classes start Tuesday night. :eek:

I applied online. The advisor told me to do that and then just show up for class so I don't miss anything important. She said I can apply for financial assistance next week.

I told her that I was an EMT in CT for over 20 years. She said that I could've challenged the exam if I still had my certification, but I don't so I have to take the classes all over again. That's fine with me. She also said to speak to the instructor and find out if I can just take the exams. I'd rather participate in the classes because protocol changes so much.

So, looks like I'll be a studying fool for the next 9 months. At least then I'll have a job that pays good. Plus I enjoy the work and I know I'm good at it. *pats self on back*

:( Well, I quit. I DO plan on going back in the fall. The problem is I've been under an extreme amount of stress worrying about how I'm going to support myself with no unemployment benefits coming in, and only having a part-time job, that I wasn't sleeping. To add insult to injury, I couldn't concentrate on my studies. Nothing was sinking in. So I thought rather than waste my time and energy and not getting anywhere, I've decided to put the whole thing on the back burner till the fall. By then I'll be on my feet again and can put my best foot forward. It took alot of soul searching, but right now I have to concentrate on what is best for my overall survival. :( :( I hope you guys aren't disappointed in me. :( :(

I personally would rather see you put this off and maintain your mentally health, then drive yourself crazy. I also think that it is a good idea to take the class when you can get something out of it.

You are doing what is right for you, how can that be wrong?

I know that you will find something soon.:) Then when the class comes up again you will be in a better postion to take it.

I will be keeping you in my prayers and also holding good thoughts that you find something soon.:)
