The giant Black & White kitty is back.

He first entered our house when we fitted the catflap for Georgie. One night Georgie was crying on the landing and Stevie ran out to the landing to see the biggest butt ever vanish downstairs.

When we trapped Fleur & kits (Bramble mummy) the idiot people who owned the garden pointed our big Black & White cat as daddy cat.

He turned up again in our garden this afternoon. Bramble (his daughter ?!?) ran past him with aeroplane ears.

I suppose the question is ...what do we do now ?

He turns up rarely and is skittish. So he is very unlikely to be trapped.

What if he is sick ? What if he is feral ? I starting to wonder if we do right when we pick up stray cats ? But it is getting cold again....

Oh Jenny, that sounds all to familiar to me...a big black and white male?!

Wishing you the best of luck on whatever you'll decide...:)

Are there trap neuter release programs local to you? run by a shelter? That might be the way to go. They would have the trapping experience and also the resources to get him neutered. And while he's having that done they can judge his temperament for re-homing. Or simple releasing if feral. At least he'd not be DADDY any more.

I agree with Jen a TNR, if that is possible. They would at least have the experience to tell if it could be done.

They could also check him out to make sure that he isn't sick at the point too.

I would LOVE to get professional help and I'll ring around again but I won't be holding my breath.

With Mr Stray even though he needed medical care, I was told leave him outside we have no places for any cats not even from our own inspectors.

Only one Thornberry 50 miles away offered us a place for Mr Stray if we sorted out his eye infection & neuter him first. Which we tried to do :(

When I rang around about Fleur and kits, I got the offer of a humane trap from the CPL but they told me upfront that they would neither help with trapping nor take the cats if I caught them. Again Thornberry took them in, god bless Thornberry.

So if I am lucky I MIGHT be offered the loan of a trap but he isn't around enough to catch him in a week period I would have before the trap will have to be returned.

I am debating about buying a little wooden cat hutch. Small box on legs with roof and place the shelter at the bottom of the garden so he would have shelter.

Steve thinks I'm asking for every stray for miles to descend. Well they do anyway, they might as well have shelter ;)

I'll just have to see how things go, Black & White Daddy is only around for a couple of weeks and then he goes walkabout.
