One year ago today, a goofy little husky cross joined our family. Pingo came from a Quest musher down the road. He was quite attached to her (still comes to visit her occasionally), but Pingo was no longer on his A-team and she wasn't getting much use in his yard. Rather than let her spend her life on a chain doing nothing, he gave her to me.

Just after she arrived--the day she was spayed.
Pingo is six years old, a sweet, tiny black and white ball of muscle! She weighs less than 40 pounds but she can turn an entire team when she decides to. Pingo is one of my leaders, but she's not a command kind of dog. Pingo likes to pick her own trail and I've learned it's easier and less frustrating for both of us to just let her do so! Pingo remembers every trail she's ever run in her life and sometimes she decides to go on her old training routes. I've seen some amazing places I never would have gone on my own and we always end up back home safe and sound. On more than a couple of occasions listening to Pingo has saved me from getting lost.

In harness this fall, raring to go.
Pingo was born in a dog yard and until she came to our place she had never been inside. A year later, she has overcome her fear of the door and claimed a place on the couch.

She's a tireless, happy little dog who never fails to make me giggle.
Happy gotcha day, my goofy girl.
