Could you give us some more information about the dog?
How old?
Male or female?
Neutered?
Do the trees have mulch around them--the reason I ask, is that we just had our yard done this year, and they loved the mulch--there's something in it they can't resist!!
What kind of dog is it?
Is he bored? Does he have other toys to play with in the yard instead of digging up trees?

Drive three or four posts into the ground around the tree, and stretch chicken wire around them. Leave this up until the tree gets bigger and dog-proof.

Blue Belle is an Austrailian Shepherd, she just turned one. I don't think she is bored because i am always playing with her, and she has plenty of toys. momoblue

sorry about that momo
Blue Belle is still in her puppy stage at age one,
I had to do what Twisterdog suggested after Rocky
destroyed 2 trees. It works and it's not expensive. :)

Yep, we had to put up chicken wire in our yard too--a chipmunk dug a hole near a tree, and my 2 hunters couldn't handle it. I would fill it up, they would dig it up-no fun!!!
We ended up putting the chicken wire up and replanting some of the yard--they all stayed out of there!!
Good luck!!

i would burry chicken wire where she is most digging and then when she does go to dig in her fav spot she wont like the feeling of her nails against the chicken wire ;). also you could get bitter apple spray and spray it all overt the plants.
