Ok guys....here's what we need!! If anyone can help please email Carol Kearney and give her your information. You guys are the best.
James Bond is going to Martin, MI. No, they are not shooting his latest
movie. He is a Black and Tan Coonhound moving to a longer term foster home
there. He is a very sweet dog who just needs to learn some manners before
heading to a forever home. Everyone who meest him falls in love with him,
but then, even in the movies, all the ladies do fall for James Bond. Oh,
and he prefers his kibble shaken, not stirred. (heehee)
There is a slight possibility that another dog will be added to this
transport. This information will be updated and confirmed as it is
received.
Permission to crosspost.
If you can help with any part of this transport, please contact Carol Keany
at carolk @ lablinkstransport.org (remove spaces). Please do not reply to
the lists as I may overlook your offer of help. All legs of this transport
are flexible and can be adjusted to suit whatever you are able to help with.

I "think" we have dance rehearsal on Sunday. I 'mnot doing the Christmas show, except for one number with Cincy, so wouldn't it figure it is the first rehearsal I have to be at. I'll check with ralph for sure what time it is...

Just waiting on a time. Should I contact Carol to get on the list? Or was that already corrected?

Kimmy, like I told you last night on the phone, and for everyone else paying attention to this transport, I am going to be talking to Carol, the coordinator, tonight after I get back from my transport and see what's going on. Now the woman is unreachable so we don't know if she has had the dogs vetted or not so they can travel. It sounds like she's being a royal pain. So, we don't know if this is a go or not. If it is, there is someone to drive them all the way to IN where Mike and I are going to overnight them and then Kimmy, you and I and Kim can coordinate times for Saturday because at that point it really doesn't matter. Mike and I just have Weight Watchers at 10 and the meeting goes for about a half an hour. I will keep everyone updated. Thanks for everyone's good thoughts on this one....we need it!

OMG!! THIS HAS TURNED INTO A SOAP OPERA NIGHTMARE!!!
Well, the woman has refused to turn the dogs over to Carol who is coordinating this transport. I got an email from Carol and Kim today and I guess the stupid wench wants the dogs gone now and Carol has to figure out what to do with them until the transport can go. She is going to take them because the woman is unstable and she's afraid that the woman will go back on her word again. I guess the guy that was going to drive them back got delayed because of the storm in the east and now won't be leaving until Sunday and possibly Monday, so she didn't TOTALLY screw it up, thanks to Mother Nature. Oiy! This has been a real rollercoaster and I'm not even in the middle of it.
Hey Kim are you feeling well enough to help if this goes? If you're not, I totally understand and I'll drive them however far I have to to get them to Kim where they need to be.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able too. :( I have a bunch of follow up appointments for this cat bite and I can't miss anymore work.
I'm off the IV though! *yes!* But he said to take good care of it and watch it carefully.

James Bond and Timber are 2 Black and Tan Coonhounds heading to their foster

enthusiasm. They were going to travel this weekend, but with the nasty
weather coming the opposite direction of their trip, we postponed for a
week. They both travel well and get along great with each other.

Darn it!!
Right through here, and I know to get to Clarion all I have to do is jump on 80!!
Unfortunatley, I have to work tomorrow, and I am supposed to go to a wedding--I was trying to find someone to work for me so my husband doesn't have to take another woman, lol, but everyone I work with is so useless when it comes to helping out.
My husband will kill me, but if for some reason it is changed to Sunday, or the overnight is in this area, I would love to.
I'm so upset--I've been waiting for a transport near me, so I could help.

Oh good!! Phred called me and asked if he could help. I hope you don't mind that I gave him your number, but figured that you guys would appreciate the shortened run. Roger and Beth are the heroes of this transport too. If they hadn't stepped up it would have been cancelled and then Phred came up and took a bunch off the run. All I can say is "THANK YOU" to all who offered to help. This has been one of the more rewarding transports that I've been involved in. Kim was in tears she was so happy. Carol was yelling in the phone....such a happy day. :)

This is Steno in congnito.
Well, the hounds are here. I have to say for being in rescue for two months, Moses and James Bond certainly didn't gain much weight. I think Moses might have actually lost some. Moses is taller but he still hasn't grown into those ears yet. :D James Bond does look a little better. His coat is shinier. And Timber is pretty vocal, especially when he sees a cat. He definitely does not like them. We have a stray here who was sitting on the porch and Timber was going nuts. He barked for 30 minutes straight. I finally went out, got the cat and put him out of Timber's sight. All three are very friendly. It is a joy having them here again.
Like Cinder and Smokey, my dogs are not too thrilled either, especially when they tried to go in their cages and the cages were gone.
Well, I'll try to get some pictures for you guys before it gets too dark. If not, I'll have Roger take some tomorrow.
mugsy

hehehe they think the threat of snow is gonna stop me!!!!!!where do they think the postman got their motto from. i'll tell ya from us silly a$$ed country bumpkins. we'll just leave a lil earlier than we planned on thats all..i think they are calling for like 10 to 12 inches here by sunday nite!!!!!!!we'll see Phred in youngstown bout 9:30 or so!!!!!!!
mountain maniac
12-14-2003, 09:01 AM
Well, I just talked to Roger and I can guarantee you that the boys will not be in Elyria by 11:30. Roger is about 60 miles away from where he's supposed to meet Phred at. He said the roads are horrible. He's traveling the interstate at a top speed of 45 miles per hour. He said it was snowing so hard at some points that he could barely see. Phred and Mugsy, be careful.
While typing this I just happened to glance over and see my camera sitting here. I guess we're not going to get pictures for you. :(
mugsy
12-14-2003, 10:11 AM
I'm more concerned with Roger. We have hardly any snow. Phred called and said that Roger was at least an hour and a ahalf to 2 hours behind. We have tried to adjust, but I can't get a hold of anyone. Beth, tell Roger to be careful and I'm sorry you got into this. :(
mountain maniac
12-14-2003, 11:16 AM
Yep, Roger is two hours behind. He dropped the dogs off to Phred around 11:30. Roger was happy he was able to speed all the way up to around 55 during last 10 miles. Mugsy, don't be sorry. It is for a good cause.
mountain maniac
12-14-2003, 02:48 PM
first off let me apologize for running everyone late....roads and idiots were more than i expected...good news the dogs made it to phred in youngstown at 11:30..... if anyone likes fruit salad there is alot of it scattered along I80 about mile 68..lol...musta ben at least 50 accidents on the way out and back..including the fruit mixer. i gave up on 80 coming home and run the back roads for about 80 miles just to get away from the bumpfest with the truckers........now i gotta go out and plow my 8 inches plus

12-14-2003, 09:10 PM
We made it!!!
We ended up only being 45 minutes late. Kim was THRILLED to get the dogs, although, she was NOT happy at the condition of them. Beth, you were right, James didn't look any better than he did on the way out and Moses looks A LOT worse. He only weighs 44 pounds and should weigh 55 to 60 by now. He is losing hair too. They are all too sweet. Timber just whined the whole way...but, it turns out he had to go potty. James gave me kisses goodbye as did Moses. Timber was too busy checking out the smells. He did give Mike one though. The other 3 dogs that we transported were fine too and all should be at their destinations by now. Kim had a problem on the way home. She got off of 131 and lost her right rear tire and probably broke an axle. This was a cursed transport from the beginning it sounds like! I want to thank Beth and Roger and Phred for giving their time and energy to get these guys home. Also if you guys could email Kim your addresses, she has a Coonhound magazine that she would like to send you. Roger, I'm glad you made it home safe and sound. I'm sorry it was such a headache. Phred, I'm glad you made it too. Thanks for calling to check on us, it's nice to know that people care.
THANK YOU ALL AGAIN, THERE IS A SPECIAL PLACE IN HEAVEN FOR YOU AND AN EXTRA GIFT UNDER THE TREE.

Mugsy left me the URL to this forum in a voice mail. I just HAD to join so I could thank all of you!
I'm Carol - the transport coordinator who chewed her nails down to the second knuckle, chain smoked constantly for 3 weeks, and drank coffee like it was nectar of the doGs, all while trying to get these dogs to Kim.
What can I say? There are not sufficient words. Thank you all for the WONDERFUL help you gave us in getting James, Moses and Timber to Kim. If not for some really great people on this forum, they would still be here in NJ, probably living in my truck until I could get them on the road, since kennel space was simply not available during the holidays (don't think I didn't try!). And after the little "present" Timber deposited in my truck on Saturday morning, I am quite grateful that they did not live in my truck. LOL!
You guys are the best. Mugsy was my moral support through it all. And hearing from the other members here who called to offer their fantastic help, I was almost reduced to tears. Thanks again!!

You bet, Mugsy! (it sounds really funny for me to call you that - I'm not used to it!)
Oh, and BTW, Phred, you are in big trouble, mister!!! I told you to drive carefully! I do NOT recall asking you to take pictures while driving by yourself in a blizzard on the interstate! <grin>
But I'm glad I did get to see these. I brought my camera along but only got one or two decent shots - we were in such a rush to make the exchange, and it was so darned cold out that my fingers quickly grew too numb to be able to work the little buttons on the camera.

Oh, okay. I wasn't sure if you use real names here or screen names.
Yep - I made a bee-line for the pictures. That Phred! He did not listen to his transport coordinator's instructions! LOL!
I haven't heard from anyone yet on paperwork. I'll be able to start making calls tonight. At least I think you and I narrowed it down to 2 possibilities on the phone yesterday. It's probably under somebody's seat and they don't even know it. LOL!

Well if you and Nicole would get your butts up here to the northern hemisphere in the next 3 months we could probably arrange snow and if you insist, we could find a blizzard somewhere for you! lol

Thanks for the welcome!! I think I'm going to like it here. I may not post a lot, but I'll stick my nose in from time to time.
Now, who was it who's never driven in snow? I can take care of that! Just sign up for one of my transports and you're pretty much guaranteed to drive in snow! LOL! Three transports on the road this weekend, all in different areas and every single one of them got stuck in snowstorms at some point. The way our luck was running this weekend, I think I could have made it snow in Hawaii.
Skiing anyone?!
Roger was a trooper!! And Phred was right on top of the situation! He handled notifying everyone of the bad weather and slow roads. Give us time - we'll have him coordinating rescue transports sooner or later!

Well, I'm sure that if I did, it would snow there. Maybe I'd better stick with this country.

Since Roger can't post until this weekend, I just wanted to say it was definitely our pleasure having the houdies overnight. As far as driving in blizzard conditions, he didn't have a choice. We could not handle five dogs all week long!!!!! We ended up getting about 12 inches (for the second weekend in a row).
I have not been able to look in Roger's vehicle to see if he has the paperwork, but I think phred's post says that he handed the paperwork over so I don't think he has it. I hope you can find it. I am glad the boys made it and hopefully will now receive the care they deserve. Now Moses and James Bond can get some weight on those bones!!!!!

Oh so true Beth. James is at the vet as we speak getting neutered (which he was supposed to have had done in September when he got to NJ). Moses has a skin infection, but has had his nails clipped and is currently being spoiled. Timber is doing well too. Kim is very pleased to have them back. I can't wait for pictures.
Did you guys send your snail mail address to Kim? She has a Coon hound magazine for you.....it's very cool. She gave us ours the night we met up with her in K-zoo. I have decided that our George may be mostly Redbone.

Hey, Molly, Phred and Roger & Beth!
Paperwork was found. It was in Pamm's car. She put it in the trunk because it was starting to get a little messed up from the pooches and she wanted to try and keep it from getting worse. She kept on reminding herself all the way to Fremont that she needed to remember it. So, as I would have done, she forgot about it.
She's sticking it in the mail today. I let Kim know already.
There's a copy of it in NJ that I could get if needed, but it shouldn't be necessary now.
A foot of snow?!?!?! Oh, Man! At my house we got nothing but rain, but up near where I work there was about 6" of snow. Then the rain washed it away and froze everything. It's gonna be a loooooong winter... Roger is a real trooper - driving through that!

Yes, I think I remember reading that in Martha Stewart Living magazine. <grin>
Here's another... don't forget to bring one of those cheap plastic tarps next time. I was kicking myself - I normally have extras in the truck so I can send one along with the dogs, but didn't have any with me this time around. Thankfully, there was a comforter back there though. Timber decided to poop all over the back of my truck - if not for the comforter, there'd be a for sale sign in the window right now.
