Sandy left his room !!!
No photos to record the happy event but I'll be faster next time.
To explain....Sandy has a fully fitted spare room with food, litter tray, toys and running servants !!
Which he wants to leave... until he actually sees the upstairs hall, then he turns and runs to hid in the spare room.
As he doesn't seem to mind the other cats (having briefly met, Bramble, Tigs & Milly) we shut his door when we are out or when we go to bed.
The rest of the time the door is open so he can leave if he wants too. But to date he hasn't left his room.
So this morning (day off) I am having a cup of tea on our sofa, as Sandy slowly walks into the living room !!!
He looks around as Bramble made a sound on the cat tree. He run with cartoon legs spinning on the wood floor, in order to get up the stairs as fast as he can.
Wonder how long it will be before we see him downstairs again :D

It took weeks for Calvin and months for Willow, but watching progress is so much fun. :)
Way to go Sandy :D

Having gotten that brave, I'll bet it will quite soon that he'll try another adventure. Cats are too social to be isolated for long.

I'm just so surprised to see him downstairs. :)
It doesn't matter now long he stays upstairs, it was just nice to see him out and about. :D

I am so happy to hear that Sandy made it out of his room to another part of the house.
It took Joey a little while to be comfotable enough to wander around when we where home.
Congratulations on Sandy's foray into the house and keep us updated.

Dont worry! When Sandy realizes that there is noything to fear , then hewill start exploring the house more. It took Diane , the better part of a year to come out in the open.

Very slow progress, he has been in his room 24/7 since the last sighting. :D
Though I should point out, we go and give him regular cuddles in his room and his room is 3 times the size of his cage for the last year.
We'll just keep giving his cuddles until he feels secure enough to wander :D

I guess one can only wonder about how a cat feels after being confined to a cage in a shelter for such a long time...
But he gradually learns to trust open doors and open space again and that there are people who love him and give him time to forget and learn to be a happy cat again...
I know he will...I've read that Orangies are very sensible and I guess he's overwhelmed by all these new impressions, soon he will learn that his home is safe, that every step he further takes is safe...and that he is safe!!!
Go, Sandy!!!
