Although commonly called "airplane ears", Edwina prefers calling these "water wings"!

Edwina, after all, it was a good idea with that water dispenser, wasn't it? Now you be careful you don't get your little ears wet. ;)

Do you let Eddie use it too? Be a sweetie and let him! :)

Sara, what brand is the water dish? Do you find Edwina and Eddie drink more water because of it?

I think Santa needs to know about this.

Yes, Water Wings is much more appropriate. :D Does she do this everytime she drinks? :D

Of course Lady E wouldn't drink in a way that could end up with wet ears:)

If she was human I know she would never have tomato sauce on her white shirt;)

So ladylike!! If she was human I just know she would sip tea with her little pinky finger sticking out!!

I've got the same one--it's a Petmate Fresh Flow. I got one mostly because my Kacey doesn't like his water standing still. It's been a big success here! :)

Miss Edwina:
Could you possibly be any sweeter than you already are??? Of course not, although I'm sure Mr Ed would have a few things to say. Those water wings are so cute but be careful not to keep them like that for any length of time otherwise they will stay like that. Then your Meowmie will have to redesign all of your hats.:D :D

Love those Water Wings, Edwina. :)

Edwina, you certainly drink like a lady.;) That is a great picture.:)

I have a fountain, but it is not the same brand I don't think this one was out when I got mine. Mine is call a Drinkwell Pet Fountain. I would go with the petmate, it is less expensive.

However, I would suggest getting one, both of my babies love it.

Thanks for the picture.:)

Are the "ears back during drinking" anything like holding your pinkie up when you sip tea?

A question for fountain owners -- Does this device plug in or use batteries? I think Briggs would like one as she follows me to the bathroom all the time  THis has nothing to do with her having a need for togetherness. She knows I'll wash my hands which gives her the opportunity to drink from the running faucet.

Edwina's sec'y -- I'm glad you also double as E's photographer. The picture of her daintily sipping is precious.

My DSL went down right after posting this...still down...

Yes, Gini...I think they drink more...except Eddie still likes the occasional drink from the big porcelain water bowl!

I believe that they both plug into the wall. I know that mine does, and I am pretty sure that the petmate one does also.

Gini, I think that mine drink more water because of the fountain also. I also keep 2 other water bowls for them to use.

That is a real bummer, I hope you get your DSL back soon.:(

I have the Fresh Flow Deluxe. I decided on the deluxe for a specific reason, but I can't remember what that was now :o The motor is very quiet, unless it gets low on water (that's happened a couple times, when the cats drink a lot or the water evaporates faster because of weather, etc). My cats probably drink twice as much water with that than when they just had their water bowls. I still have the bowls around the house, and they do use those too, but they just love their fountain.

Awwww Edwina sweetie-pie - just how cute are you? Such a lady - drinking properly!!
I had to give up with the water fountain (same make as yours Sara) - only Dan got the idea how it was to be used - Bagel decided to drink from Tricky's (Elizabeth's dog) water bowl and Ketchum stood and looked perplexed with a look on his face of 'Meowmie - water - now - bowl - gone'!!! Although he wasn't averse to washing his paws in the 'dish'!!

I'm also curious to know whether these fountains make any noise. Also, do they come in different sizes?

I'm sure Fister would love one, he comes running into the bathroom almost every time we go there, but we don't have that much space for it. At least not if it needs to be plugged in. :(

I have been thinking about the water fountain some more too.

Randi brings up a good point.......do they make noise? Also, if they need to be plugged in - do you leave them on when you are away from the house? And is the cord a problem? In my kitchen, it would need to be plugged into a counter outlet.

I sure like the idea of filtered water for the kids though.

There....back online...

The fountain uses the same motor as a fish tank. It has an adjustment for the flow. It makes noise if it gets too low on water and the occasional gurgle as it releases water from the tank. I leave it run all the time and sometimes find I am checking to see if it is still running as it is so quiet. It holds quite a bit of water in the tank. I only fill it once or twice a week.

I only had Edwina when I bought it. It took taking away her other water dish to get her to use it. Now she loves it. And of course, since Edwina drinks out of it, Eddie took to it right away... ;)
