Does anyone else have dogs that sleeps A LOT? Rosie's known to sleep all day if she felt like it.. right now, she's sleeping.. all curled up on my bed.. under the blankets!
Rocky and Sheba both sleep a lot.
Their more frisky in the morning, but sleep during the day.
Even in the evening, when I watch T.V they come inside the house and sleep some more.

lol That's almost all mine do. They sleep all day and play for 10 minutes, then it's back to sleep!

My grandma's shi tzu sleeps all the time. She used to play for a few minutes at a time, but now she just sleeps.

Mine can be wild or sleepers.
Today it's rainy and cold, and they are all curled up asleep, and have been all afternoon, besides going out a few times to potty--then it's out and right back in.
I had a beagle growing up who was a champion sleeper, lol.

Dogs are predators - predators have to conserve as much energy as possible to survive - they conserve energy in order to hunt for food - we feed our dogs so that takes away the need to hunt but the basic genetics are still apparent. If you are well fed then you should make the most of that energy source and conserve it by resting as much as possible. Wild canids spend as much time as possible sleeping and this is true of all predatory mammals, birds, reptiles and even insects. As long as your dog is willing to get up when you pick up the lead and is happy and excited to go out it is a very good sign that your dog is content to let you protect it and make the right choices for it's wellbeing - your dog trusts you - that is a happy dog - a dog that is constantly on the go is a dog under stress.
