Now this foster will probably remain in foster care for her entire life. There is no one who would willingly take a cat into their family whom cannot be touched. I have been told that she WILL eventually come around to trust you, but I can't even guess how much time it would take. Also in the same boat of not liking other cats, she will have a rough time of it in a shelter situation. Her fomer foster mommy and I will probably shuffle her back anbd forth with the seasons. (she can't foster in the winter due to a lack of heat in her foster house).

I was thinking the same thing Kirsten. Poor baby.

She is gorgeous.

Poor Bailey, I also wonder why that is?

Well, dhe is at least with the two of you and will be watched out for. Who knows maybe one of you will make a break through with her and then can adopt her out. OK, not really a possibility but it is still a hope.

Bless you both for watching out for her.:)

I, too, am curious about her background. Was she abused??? I'm sorry, but I think she's beautiful just the way she is and she's very lucky to have you two to look after her. In life, we just have to accept others as they are.

Awwww....tortie girl!!!

I do believe she's found an excellent winter home out of it though. ;)

What a cute face! Such a pity that she is a grouch, but I am sure she has good reason!! At least she is now in good hands!

Poor Bailey - a little too much tortietude maybe?

I tell you there are people around to whom you can trust:)

I always think of Gabe when I think of unhappy cats. He found a friend here, and no one would have guessed that he could change. Sometimes a little medication and a change of environment does wonders. Sometimes NOT!

What a pretty kitty.

At this point I would not even be able to administer the type that goes into the ear canal. :(

Poor Bailey! It is such a shame that we can't make them understand how much they are missing. All the snuggles and love we could give them.
Is she feral or was her background with people really bad? Does anyone know how old she is?
I'm sure there is a reason for her attitude but I would say the fact that she is Tortie only takes it to the extreme!! Good Luck!

As far as Bailey's background goes, this is what we know:

she was taken in at 3 WEEKS and bottle fed>>>this worries me, what would make a bottle baby turn so sour???>>>

She lived with a family that seemed to take her to the vet a LOT (hypochondriacs??)

She was HEAVILY drugged at the time of surrender.....could hardly walk straight.

the people said...and I quote..."it is DRY food that is making her crazy"
Deb, Bailey's rescuer, said it did not take Bailey to make these people crazy ;)

She is about 6 1/2 years old

Poor darling. Stories like that make me so sad.

You and the other foster mum are angels for helping her :)

What a cutie pie. So... if dry food makes cats crazy, I'm in some serious trouble!

She couldn't walk straight? I want to go up to these people and give them a serious shake. At least my babies and all of my friends babies are loved and cared for properly. Sometimes I wonder why people can't accept the duties of pet parenthood.

As for all of the lost kitties, I myself would love to foster, but I think my husband would start divorce proceedings. When we were looking at One By One to get Pouncer, my girls and I fell in love with Skittles, but since she's a shy scardy-cat who also doesn't like other cats, we couldn't get her... what with Alllen and a 100 pound happy mutt., Poor thing would have jumped out of her own skin. I just wish I could rescue every little baby out there and give them the love they deserve.

She's a real beauty and it's so sad that someone in her past has made her into the cat she is today.

I wish her and you Jen., all the Luck in the world.

Your so dedicated in your care for these very needy furkids - may your God care for you in turn. xxx

Well, Bailey, Ice Queen, walked up to me today and gave me head bumpies and let me give her some scritchies on her head. WOW!!! She'll never be a social butterfly, but she does melt a little. Now all we need is a home for her where they don't care how long it takes for her to trust. And she may NEVER want to be held. But she most definitely looks at me with softer eyes these days (not the death looks I got in the begining)

Sounds like she is thawing :D

Welcome Bailey, you have landed on your feet with a foster place with Jen.

I honestly think, some cats only settle with some people.

Take Sandy, he is certainly not the violent monster we were lead to believe. Fair enough he still gives us baby bites and no claw slaps and mainly lives upstairs but he will come around in time and even if he doesn't he is 10,000 times better than we were lead to believe.

I know Bailey is currently more problematic but if you can look into her eyes and see her, you'll know if she can come around given time.

Oh Jen, thank you for updating us on Bailey. Coming up to you to give you headbumpies and actually allowing you to give her head scritchies is a good start.
Do you think though that when it comes time for the other foster mother to take her back, that she will revert back into her shell? Oh gosh I hope not.
Oh Bailey, you are so deserving of love and happiness, please allow Jen and the other foster mom into your heart.

Jen,
Bailey is a beauty! As most torties are. I don't think I would worry too much...there will be a home for Bailey. After all, I have Minnie! I would fall over if she walked up and gave me headbumpies. Fall flat on my face.

I am so happy to hear that Bailey may be warming up, a little at least. That does give her a chance at being adopted.

There are people out there willing to take a stand offish cat. Take me for instance.:) When we first got Joey she would run when we approached her, and now look at her, She will come sit in my lap. I still can't pick her up or hold her, but hey we have years to work on that.;)

Anyway, I am happy about Bailey. There is always hope for the future.

She is beautiful and maybe beginning to have little break through with you Jen. I think it is wonderful she approached you like that. If anyone can help her I think it is you!!

Somehow I've missed this thread before...I am glad that Bailey is thawing!!!:)
She looks awesome like most of the tortie cats...I am really fond of the coloring and most times it looks like as if an orangie lies dormant under a black cover or vice versa...she's beautiful!!!

As I strongly believe that there's the true owner for every cat and that cats always find a way to the "one" heart I am sure Bailey will find that special someone, too...or maybe that has already happened, Jen?!

Bailey will be in my thoughts...keep up thawing, little girl!!!

I think cats who have been mistreated come to know when they can trust people. Buddy was a basket case and could not be handled at all. It took nine months, but he transformed into a sweet gentle cat who's in with young kids. So there's hope for Bailey!

Well Jen, Bailey is in the right house. Maybe all she needed was someone who could understand!

Wonderful news about Bailey!! She is melting!! She is going to quit the challenge but WOW when they give you something!! Really great news!!
I wonder Jen how it will be when she goes back to her original foster mother. It seems that maybe just when she gets comfortable and starts to melt she has to move again. Maybe she should just stay with you forever!!:D :D http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/biggrin.gif
Sorry, I just had to say it!!

She may be confused, but her other foster mom loves her. She'd keep her but Bailey does NOT like other cats and would not be happy with so many siblings.
