Hello
You guys might remember me. I have Shadow and adopted Topper who attacked Shadow in the very beginning. We are doing SO much better and they have even sniffed noses! However, SHadow still hisses at him. THe only thing is that Topper likes to stalk Shadow. He will follow him and sneak up and try to sneak up n him. Last night he kind of pushed him into a corner and was just looking at him. IS there any thing we can do about this sort of behavior to get him to quit it? I think he just wants Shadow to be his friend or play with him. But it makes us very nervous when he stalks him. This happens a lot of the time when Shadow is eating. He tries to eat out of the bowl at the same time with Shadow, and of course Shadow doesn't like it. Shadow just keeps hiding under the table from him b/c I think he is afraid of getting attacked again. Topper is doing SO much better though and when Shadow hisses he just purrs and purrs and purrs and just kind of looks at him. He doesn't always stalk. Sometimes he will come down the stairs, see Shadow, and then keep on walking.
Any thoughts on how to correct this behavior?

Do you have separate feeding bowls/places for them? I still have to keep my two's food separated as they are on different diets. However they do sometimes eat out of each other's bowls - Mitzi is the bully when it comes to food. Sometimes she bites at Mishi's head while eating out of HIS bowl - she's never actually bit him, but she does make the move. That's when I separate them (gentlY0 and they get over it. He's such a gentleman - when he catches her eating at his bowl, he stands patiently by, waiting for her to finish eating HIS food. It's taken my two many MONTHS to get along together in a friendly manner - initially they just tolerated each other. Thankfully, I never went through a period of really bad hissing and swatting with them.

Yup - sometimes Mishi "stalks" Mitzi - he LOVES her. He has now earned her good graces and she will let him lick her. I even caught her giving him a head-bump the other day -- a first after 7 months! Yes, Mitzi sometimes hides from him - she jumps up to higher places to get away from his attention (he doesn't jump at all). Give them time - they will figure it out. As long as no blood is being shed, they are making progress.
