I saw a thread on people who where trying to stop bitting there nails and all the remedys they had come up with. This reminded me of a thread I wanted to start.

My 'little' Bob boy has a confession to make, he bites his nails. Yes, it's true, oh the shame.;)

For a long time I thought that he was just cleaning his back feet really well, and I then realized that he wasn't cleaning he was bitting. I first made sure that there wasn't anything wrong, and his back feet are just fine. He did damage a nail once that had just been cut, because he chewed it to the quick, but that nail is fine now.:) When they trim his nails that just leave them a little long in the back. I am pretty sure it is not because they are too long because I do have them trimmed regularly.

After all that story, what I really wanted to know was if anybody else had a kitty that does anything simillar, or maybe any idea on why he may be doing that.

Thanks

Kitties bite their back nails to remove the dead outer layer. The front ones are removed by scratching, but this is the only way to remove the back ones. Whenever mine do that it is always a sign that it is time for a nail trim. ;)
