View Full Version : New Rescue .... Special "Angel"!!!

Last night late, I received a phone call from a young college student (male) who had witnessed someone throwing a kitten from a moving car! Luckily this young man saw that it was a kitten, and stopped to pick it up. He was frantic to find someplace to take it in, as he is a young full-time student. I gave him directions to my house, and he came right over. When I laid eye on this baby I knew she was an ANGEL! It was obvious that her back left leg was broken ... it was dangling. Well, I took her to my vet today, to find out that BOTH of her back legs are broken!!! :( :( :(
I was there nearly two hours while she was sedated (which made her vomit about 4 times ) and while the Doctor made two special splints for her tiny little legs. When she came back up from the sedative, she went WILD!!! The vet suggested she stay overnight to calm down before coming home. She had her belly, tail and bottom shaved, as she will be unable to use her litter box or clean herself. I will have to do all of this for her for two full weeks, provided she doesn't have complications from the splints. (ie: blood circulation cut off, or sores developing).....
My vet called me later this evening and said that baby Angel had settled down and she was even able to hold her, and she was purring! She also had eaten, so that was great news! I will be picking up my new precious Angel Baby in the morning. (As well as finding out what my bill will be)
Please say a prayer for my new Angel .... she will not be leaving my home EVER .... no way I would entrust her care to someone else!

Kim you are an angel for taking her in. I was very happy to read that the doctor was able to help her, but 2 broken legs, OMG. I was also excited to read that she had calmed down and ate something. I hope that she will have a speedy recover. Also she is just so cute in that picture. She looks kind of sad in that first photo, that broke my heart. She looks much happier in the next ones.
She and you will both be in my prayers. Please keep us up dated wen you can.
I just have to vent for a second:

Kim, YOU are the angel, along with that young college student who saw the whole thing and had enough heart to stop and help. Poor little kitty. :(
She is an absolute doll and I can't wait for more pics and more good reports on how she's doing. I'm so glad to hear she calmed down and even purred for the vet. Now hopefully everything will heal properly and hopefully she has no internal injuries that will hinder her recovery.
I just love that sweet little face already! :D
Oh, and CatDad, we all understand exactly how you feel. :)

Kim, bless you for taking angel in and giving her a wonderful forever home. She could not have ended up in a better place. Sending prayers for a quick recovery. And to the guy who threw her from the car - what goes around comes around - so watch out!!!!!
Those pics just brought tears to my eyes, although when I look carefully at the second one she almost looks like she is smiling.

When I read Angel's story I got so angry!http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/mad.gif I still can't believe the cruelty in this world!! I was picturing myself doing all sorts of horrible and cruel things to the #$*$!&@! who did that to her!!!  http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/mad.gif
When I saw her face my heart melted! What a beautiful little baby she is!! I've given up on trying to understand why people do what they do and I try to focus on all the good there is. Her little face just proves that angels come in all shapes and forms!
Prayers are on the way for the quick healing of that beautiful baby! Included in my prayers is a great big thank you to God for people like you!!

I have not had a good cry in ages but I had one reading this. I just do not understand it. Not at all. I mean, I understand maybe finding a kitten and not being able to afford to help it (like the young college student) - but tossing it out of a moving car?? What could these people have been thinking? I just do not understand it at all. Oh I feel so sad. Thank you for taking your time and energy and money to help a little kitten like you have. Yes, I think you are the angel here.

Kim,
YOU are the Guardian Angel to this precious little girl. And I do not blame you one bit for never letting her go. I'd do the same thing.
Kudos to the college student who stopped and helped little baby Angel. And %$^#*@!!+_* to the scum sucking b@#%$&*! who did this to her.
You are in the BEST hands baby Angel. Have a wonderful life, baby girl.
God works in such strange ways. In this case He has put three Angels together - even under such strange circumstances.
The college student is an Angel for having stopped to pick up another Angel and deliver her to you - an Angel filled with love and compassion.
Bless you for taking care of this tiny baby. Please keep us posted on her progress. You will develop a bond with her that can never be broken.
Regarding the people that threw her out of the car - I do believe that God will continue to work in strange ways............He just won't show us what He has planned.........

I am so happy to hear that Angel is home and that the test were negative.:) She is adorable in that picture, but I feel so bad seeing her in those two leg casts.
Kim I still think that you are the real angel in this story.:) I also failed to mention the college student, he's ok in my book too.
Still sending prayers for a speedy recover and comfort for you both.
I missed the movie earlier, I just looked at it. She is a darling. She also looks fisty and ready to be well. I think you will have a time with her when she gets just a little better.:)

Thank you for saving that little angel, what a horrible story of how she came to be with you. I don't understand how anyone can look at a kitten and not want to protect and love it. I hope she is able to return the love that you gave to her. Do you have any intentions of keeping her?

I finally used quick time and it had to update and get a new codex to play it. I actually ended up downloaded the Mpeg. It may be that RP and WM don't have the codex to render this particular format.
Ok after all of that download the file, it is about 3 meg, and then use quicktime. Does this mean that the other 2 can't play it, no. It just means that I took the easiest route for me.;)
Hope this helps.:)
On yea, I would go through the trouble, she is adorable.

I am officially in love with this little sweetie pie!!! She is soooo adorable, and just doesn't want you to stop petting her, Kim! (notice how she only meows when the petting stops?)
Can she move at all with those big splints on her or is she confined to that basket for the next few days/weeks? So sad to see her like that, but I try to focus on the good news that she is now with you and will have the best life any kitty could have.
Sorry, gotta go watch the video again. ;) :D

She is so adorable and is a spunky, feisty little girl as well. Listen to those mews saying 'Please pet me mommy" How long will she have to wear the splints? I know she can look forward to a happpy life with you.
I was able to play the movie in QuickTime too.

I'm glad everyone has seen the move ok! The vet would like for her to keep the splints on for two weeks. However, we have to really watch closely so that sores don't develop, or worse yet, that her blood flow isn't cut off in her legs! That would be very bad. Dr. Lavalley said that even if we had done nothing for her, her legs would heal but she would of course be very disabled. So... as long as we can manage to keep the splints on her, the better healed and formed her little legs will be. However, Dr. L. says one leg will be shorter than the other though, because she was only able to stretch it so far. :(
But no matter how long / short / mis-shaped her legs are, she is my ANGEL Baby and she is at home with me and CatDaddy for keeps!
In answer to the other question ... no, she isn't totally imobile... she was flip-floppin all over the floor trying to get to me .... so I have to keep her in a basket with me while I'm at my desk, or put her in a small pet taxi with a blankie when I can't be with her. I'm so afraid she would hurt herself trying to get around. SPUNKY, she definitely IS!!!
Thanks for all the concern, and yes I will definitely keep everyone up to date! ;)

WELCOME darling little Angel, we here at PT, are keeping you in our thoughts every day, and wishing you a speedy recovery.
Kim an angel for an angel is all I can say, she is beautiful, and it sickens me and distresses me so, that Angel has to go through this suffering because of an inadequate moron, how anyone can do such a thing is beyond me, and makes me very angry.
Anger aside, I wish you well with your new precious baby, looking forward to frequent reports on her well-being, she is in our hearts now, and we wish and hope for ONLY THE BEST for Angel from now on, BLESS YOU KIM AND ANGEL TOO.:)

BUT, it is so refreshing to see such spirit in such a little soul!! Kim, you have to keep us updated on Angel. A positive story like hers helps everyone realize that good does triumph over evil.
I'm pulling my hair out because I can't see the video! I'll try again tomorrow.

What a lucky Little Kitten , that you were close by , and with your kind heart , were there to take her in. Someone threw Munchkin at me , and she was a delightful Cat! sadly she had health issues and passed on at 6, but I had a special feeling about her. as my friends said , if a kitten was thrown out of a car , the best place that she could land would be at the feet of a cat lover!

Poor Angel was awake and crying all night long .... today, I just couldn't take it anymore .... her little bottom was being poked and rubbed by the big metal splints .... I had to take them off of her!!!! The vet special made them and they weren't cheap... LOL... but the tiny girl was miserable with them on. For one, they were still way too big for her tiny legs. Dr. Lavalley had said that her legs would heal on their own, whether or not they were splinted .... she was just trying to straighten them out some. But you know what? Angel can walk on them, so they are a bit misformed, I DON'T MIND!!!! You all just would NOT have believed how appreciative this baby was as soon as those old things were off of her! She immediately climbed up to my shoulder, layed her little chin down and PURRRRRRED her heart out! I bathed her little booty to clean all the poop that had gotten stuck all over the place, and she slept ALL DAY on the living room chair. Now she is snuggled down in Mommy's bed for the night! Of course, I have a picture to share! ;)
