Last night I was just about to go to bed, and I smelled something.. "offensive".. Bassett had peed ON my bed! Bassett has always had this problem. I have had her checked out before, and it's strictly a behaviour issue (although I am going to talk to the vet about having it checked anyway). I'm SURE it was her, because she had been laying on my bed, and I got up to brush my teeth (Tilly and Nutmeg were in another room) and when I came back she was gone and the spot was there. I just got a BRAND NEW mattress, so thank god it didn't soak through.. it was just on the scrunched up part of the blankets (maybe she's telling me I have to make my bed  ). I am so upset by this. I've always known Bassett had this issue, and she was on amitriptyline two years ago for it (I gave her one last night, too), but she's NEVER peed on my bed :( The only thing I can think of is yesterday I worked a full shift, and I was gone most of my day off, and I've been working a lot so maybe she's telling me not to work so much. She is very sensitive if she doens't get "her" time. I've read through the threads here for advice, and I'm going to use a lot of it. I guess I just needed a place to gripe about it.

Naomi, I'm sorry to hear that Bassett is starting to pee on your bed again.:( I don't have any advice except to try to give her more attention. I know that animals get used to a routine and if you get out of your routine then sometimes behavioral problems will occur. Hopefully she won't have to start taking medicine again. Good luck and please keep us updated.

I feel for you.

Katie peed right by my head while I was in bed two days ago! We had just bought a new mattress, too - a really nice expensive one. Thank God I had used a mattress pad and nothing soaked through to the mattress.

I just ordered some B'Have (a spray cat deterrent) and some Nature's Miracle just for cats (to get the smell out). I hope it works.

Sorry to hear the bad news Naomie - maybe and hopefully it was just a complaint from a special furlady'Stop leaving me alone so much Mum!'

Fingers crossed that it was just a one off.
